I've been a fitness & sports performance trainer since 2000, doing it full-time until 2007, including a short stint with operating my own full-time training business for about 2 years. I've been a fitness & sports performance trainer since 2000, doing it full-time until 2007, including a short stint with operating my own full-time training business for about 2 years. I took a religious discernment period in 2007-2008, and gave up doing fitness training full-time during that period. I kept up with my training passion with a garage gym in my home, part-time, and later with helping get the Finley Community Wellness Center equipped and started in the Fall of 2009.
As a trainer, I walk-the-walk, as they say, or in my terms, 'Race-the-Race'. I'm an accomplished runner at the local level with high finishes in area 5K's, as well as being a 2-time age group state champion in the 800m & 1600m at the ND Prairie Rose State Games. As a coach, I ask my athletes to give their best, and I expect myself to give my best, too. I am always looking for the next thing to add to my arsenal in sharpening my competitive edge as an athlete (which benefits me as a coach, too).
Even though my full-time job at the school is being the custodian, I also work as a coach for various sports, so I have stayed on top of things in the fitness & sports training fields and kept up my training by doing programs in the winter & summer at the FCWC in Finley. I have coached volleyball, cross-country, and track teams in the past, so I have seen what it takes for teams and athletes to improve and be successful. What it really comes down to is having a Quality Training Strategy in place, whether its for sports improvement or for better fitness.
This is where Beachbody comes in.
I was 'on the fence' for quite some time with Beachbody's programs, as I took them for granted at first as 'Just another fitness infomercial made to rip people off'. Then, once I looked into their programs and seen a few workouts on DVD, such as some P90X workouts, these programs are solid choices that require more than just an investment of money to do. They require an investment of time and energy to devote to the mission in mind!
As a certified trainer and even a 2010 ASFA Trainer Challenge winner, I know a good program solution when I see one. So, a lot of time has went into this decision. Now is the time for me to make the choice and start helping more people out than I could before...
It is why I have chosen to join Team Beachbody as a Beachbody Coach. Not everyone can come and see me for long-term training programs as a trainer, and they need a solid strategy to follow. I believe Beachbody's programs can help deliver those long-term fitness strategies to people: from the workouts themselves to the nutritional products to assist you, and the online support systems in place to keep you on task even further!
I've tried selling my own fitness training and sports training programs online, such as e-books. What I really needed was an entire system to promote to people that's been proven to work and is wildly popular because of its proven methods...and Beachbody provides that to me. As a mid-distance and 5K runner, I'm looking to get the most out of my body. I completed P90X in mid-October of 2010.I put on 10 pounds of good weight and increased size in my arms, chest, & legs. Performances improved in my fitness tests, as well as staying steady in my running performances, which is great considering the boost in weight. Since then I have tried Insanity, making it through about 6 weeks of it in early 2011, then did a combo of my own workouts from P90X, Insanity, some Asylum, and my own running workouts during my summer racing season. Now that I'm coaching again in the fall of 2011, I have turned to 10-Minute Trainer to help me out with the limited times I have for workouts now. I may give Asylum a go in the month of November, then do mostly TMT in December. I have been enjoying TMT workouts lately and I may just stick with those.
