Spending most of your life overweight is a way of life. You get used to no one really taking much notice of you, and staying in the shadows. You close yourself up, and stay inside as much as possible. For the longest time, I just thought I would never amount to much of anything. I believed that I was destined to be overweight for the rest of my life, I'd have a decent job that paid the bills,

I began my weight loss journey back in December of 2005. I made a decision the day before Christmas that I really needed to change my life. I also figured that if I could avoid all the unhealthy food my family makes on holidays, that I could probably handle just about anything. So that was the beginning of my new life. I started slow by changing a few habits, eating after 7:30, eating fast food and eliminating sweet iced tea. It was really hard to make these changes, but it really worked. Pounds quickly came off as I worked to improve the habits that I've had for years. I also began an exercise routine. I started with walking outside, using a gazelle, and creating a strength routine with some basic equipment (a body ball, medicine ball and free weights). This set the wheels in motion for my transformation. As time grew I wanted to do more and learn more. So I began reading books about diets, nutrition and fitness. I wanted to educate myself on the right way to do this. I've never dieted in my life, this was my one time shot to change my life and I did not intend to fail.
As I became more educated and determined I wanted to find new ways to exercise. So after about 7 months of working to improve my health, I ordered Turbo Jam. I have to say that Chalene Johnson truly helped to change my life. I loved the program and became a total Turbo Addict. I now have all the videos and just can't stay away. Turbo Jam actually made me realize that exercise can be fun and not feel like torture. Within 8 pounds of learning how to rethink the way I eat, move and think I had lost a whopping 154 pounds and 181 inches total. I was and am now I totally different person, not just outside but on the inside. I have regained my confidence and self esteem. I know now that I'm not limited and I can do anything I set my mind too. I have an easier time making friends and meeting new people. I'm more comfortable in my own skin.
Right now I own just about every program offered by Team Beach Body. :) I have quite the collection. I do a combination rotation of Turbo Jam, P90X, P90, Slim in 6, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty Ballet and Rockin Abs. I enjoy them all for very different reasons. So if you want some information on a program, definitley drop me a line!! I just recently got certified as a Turbo Kick instructor this past March and I'm thrilled to be able to share Turbo with my community. I plan to instruct at local community centers and possibly a few churches to get the word out. I want people to know that their weight loss dreams can be achieved and it doesn't need to feel overwhelming. Currently I am studying to be a personal trainer through the International Sports Science Association and I plan to get Certifications in Group Fitness Instruction as well as Nutrition and Wellness Consultation. I also hope to attend a Hip Hop Hustle workshop this May. My life has changed as you can tell!! I love to help people realize their potential for a happy, healthy life.
