Pittston, ME I never wanted to be what a co-worker termed "...us chubby guys...". But, by the time my 50th birthday rolled around on June 4, 2010 I had gotten up to 208 pounds. My waist was at 42 inches, and my hips were straining the 36 inch waistbands on my jeans. I had become a fat couch potato! I realized that if I stayed on this course, my chances of hitting 60 years were less than stellar. I never wanted to be what a co-worker termed "...us chubby guys...". But, by the time my 50th birthday rolled around on June 4, 2010 I had gotten up to 208 pounds. My waist was at 42 inches, and my hips were straining the 36 inch waistbands on my jeans. I had become a fat couch potato! I realized that if I stayed on this course, my chances of hitting 60 years were less than stellar.
Two friends of mine, Shanna and Aaron, are Beachbody coaches. Shanna recommended I try Shakeology. The stuff is crazy healthy! And it tastes good, too! I started having a Shakeology shake for breakfast and stopped eating junk food and fast food on June 7, 2010.
In the meantime, I decided it was well past time for me to get off my over-sized butt again. Unfortunately, I have osteoarthritis in my knees, so most of these exercise videos that involve a lot of jumping around or use of heavy weights were just not happening for me. While browsing Shanna’s web site, I saw Body Gospel. So I got a copy, and started using Body Gospel on June 22. Then, on August 31, I began using Rev Abs in the evenings and Body Gospel before work.
I've now done P90X and P90X Plus, and I'm well into my second round of P90X, looking forward to P90X2. I have to say, P90X is tough, but the results are nothing short of amazing! I now have more muscle definition that I have my entire adult life!
To date I've gone from 208 pounds to 172 pounds, and from from a 42 inch waist to 33 inches (one inch away form my high school size!). My blood pressure's down to 118/66. Best of all, I no longer need cholesterol medicines (plural) because my total has gone from 220 to 189! I feel great!

10/11/11 Update: I'm now down to 172 pounds! I'm also within one inch of my high school waist size of 32 inches. I can tell because my 33 inch pants are getting loose around the waist! -------------------------------- I started drinking Shakeology and doing Body Gospel on June 22, 2010, when I weighed 208 pounds. I remember my first workout when I thought “Aerobics? Ha! How hard can that be?” Well, let me just say that a half hour and three breaks later, I knew just how hard aerobics can be! I’ve gotten into the habit of doing a 15 minute stretch routine and a 30 minute aerobic routine before work, and alternating between the other workouts in the evening. Between June 7 and August 28, I’ve dropped 36 pounds, lost 5 inches off my waist, and got my total cholesterol to 189 without statins. Even better, I feel GREAT!
