I started out my career as a Physical Education teacher then got into the medical field sterilizing surgical equipment. Through the stress of my job and life in general, I lost track of taking care of myself and "blossomed" up to 297 pounds. I then lost 110 pounds by going on a high protein diet with no carbohydrates through a weight loss doctor. I had to take 3 medications to make sure the diet didn't put me in the hospital and had to get a blood test and see the MD every two weeks. The diet worked, but let's face it, I put my body through a lot of internal stress to be successful. After about a year I gained 50 pounds back because I got back into the same old habits. I now follow a healthy diet and exercise to keep myself healthy and looking good. As a P.E. teacher, I always knew that this is the way that I should have lost my weight the first time. Even more important is the support of other people to encourage me and hold me accountable to my personal goals, and I feel great because I'm fit and I know how hard I worked to achieve my success. My coaches are Coach Couch, the first Coach of BeachBody, Transformation winner 2001, Top Coach 07, 08, 2009 and a Founding Coach for Team BeachBody, and $260,300.00 winner Kim Barnett. I started out at 251 pounds and am now doing the Insanity program. I've gotten to the point now where if I don't exercise, then I feel like I'm missing something in my day. I've learned that I need to put 100% into it when I exercise, and also take a break if my body is telling me to rest. The biggest lesson for me has been that without a proper nutritional program, I will have trouble reaching my weight loss goals. Notice that I didn't say diet program. It is important to eat healthy foods and get the calories we need. I Drink Shakeology because it is made from whole foods and this is an important part of me getting all the nutrients I need each day.
Put both your exercise program and good nutrition together and you will not only reach your goals, but you will create a lifestyle that will be healthier and happier!
