Leander, TX I am a 34 year old dad. I am an IT guy by trade and a huge people person by nature. I am well read in the fitness arena while I do not possess any kind of cert. I decided to take on the P90X program because I need a challenge to focus on and felt that because I tend to show fast improvement even with small efforts in working out, I figured I could really accomplish something awesome with P90X. Little did I know I would get way more than what I bargained for. I decided to become a Coach so here I am. I am 100% on board with Beachbody and intend to be for a very very long time. If you want to know more about my decision to become a coach, check out my blog.

First of all I have to be frank about myself. I am not really known for completing too much of what I start. Sure, the important things like being a dad and getting a job done at work I always get done. Its the 'extra projects' that I have trouble finishing. Historically I have been GREAT at visualizing and starting a project and being in love with the idea of completing them. I have gone to the gym and got results but stopped as soon as I felt good or thought I looked better. I would go on health kicks and stop when I got bored. Sure, I had excuses ready and they 'made sense' of course. The fact is I have been horrible at keeping myself accountable while easily keeping others accountable.
I have always been great at educating myself on topics such as health and fitness. The principles taught by the Beachbody programs and diets aren't magic or secret by any stretch of the imagination. I came in KNOWING pretty much what I had to do but pretty low on the skills of making it happen. I needed something different that I could really latch on to and keep my attention and not get bored with.
I had borrowed a friend's P90X dvds a while before and stuck with it for a month and got good results, but what happened next was pretty typical. I looked and felt better. My gym area in the garage got taken over by my dad and I didn't really try hard to resolve the issue. I stopped working out and returned to my usual eating frozen pizzas, drinking several cokes per day and sometimes skipping meals and over eating later. I got fatter than I was before I started and weighed as much as 225lbs. At 5'10" and 20+% body fat, I wasn't looked exactly stellar. (see pics)
Here is what I did wrong. A lot of people, in my opinion, make this same mistake. I didn't look deep enough into Beachbody to find that this company was a lot more than selling 60 and 90 day physical transformations. I did not really tap into the Coach community (because I already knew it all) for accountability or advice. I didn't engage in any other way except for 30 days of the workout and diet program. Beachbody is really about lifestyle changes and support groups and challenges and changing the horrible trend of obesity in our country. They have set up a POWERFUL network of Coaches which are the engine to our country's health lifeboat. They have successfully privatized the health care industry's solution.
This round was different. I knew I had to make a lot of changes on the INSIDE in order to create the changes I wanted on the outside. I knew I needed to put myself into a position where others would see me, my progress and my level of dedication. I needed others I could rely on to keep me accountable. It was soon after that my good friend from highschool, Coach Christi Endres, and I reconnected via Facebook. We had not been in contact for about 14 years. We ran track together and worked at the same small town store together. Her older brother was also a good track buddy also. I quickly realized she was a Beachbody coach and I saw my opportunity. I told her I wanted to become a Coach and be a part of her team. By doing this, I had people that I knew and trusted to hold me accountable. I was very serious about being a successful Coach and I knew in order for me to accomplish this, I had to put my money where my mouth was. By being a Coach, I put myself out there to be seen by the world and I had to show that I believed in what I wanted others to do as well. Talk about accountability! I told all these people, directly and indirectly, that I was going to do it and I absolutely FEAR failure due to quitting while in plain view of others. Before when I quit, I did it privately in my own home. No pain in that!
It was absolutely the right thing for me to do. My friends and support team where there to give me the praise I needed, the push that I required and their presence kept me motivated. The whole point of starting anything is to finish it. When it is something around health and fitness, you do what you have to. I set myself up for success by going where I was scared the most.
Not only did this decision help me lose 20 lbs and 20 inches in 90 days, it gave me a win I have rarely had in my life and has made me that much more hungrier for more just like it. I actually finished something I started. This has done more for my personal development than it has for my physical development. Positive personal development breeds more success. I just successfully turned a downward spiral of poor health and fitness and self worth inside out into a forward moving personal improvement plan based on changes on the inside that are driving my external successes.
In short, I am a changed man! My kids will grow into better men because of this. My family will be happier because of this. My Coaching business will be more successful which just means more people are changing also as a result of MY OWN personal change.
This is what Beachbody sells; changed lives. I HIGHLY recommend them at any level.
Good luck in your endeavors and I am always happy to help and lend my time to those who seek it out.
