Shakeology and crohn's Disease
Hi everyone.... I have a customer who wants to try Shakeology but she has Crohn's. Does anyone know anyone who has Crohn's that drinks Shakeology? How does your stomach handle it?? Let me know! Thanks. Kristin

I have ulcertive colitis and have been using Shakeology for a little over one month and am doing well, though I did pretty well with a good diet before taking it. I realize Chron's is different from Ulcerative Colitis, and may have different results. I would talk to your Doctor or start with half a scoop to begin.

My husband has Crohn's and fistula's to accompany it. I asked him to try shakeology with me and we've been doing it for 3 weeks. In his words his fistula basically disappeared and he's never felt better. He also said he doesn't know if it's shakeology or a coincidence. WELL I think it's 100% shakeology because nothing ever help him before (medication/surgery) so why all of a sudden would it disappear?!?! Yup it's the wonders of shakeology. Good luck!

My sister has UC and I would love to be able to offer her Shakeology. Has it helped your symptoms?

Hello! I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 1981 at 13 years old. After years (over 2 decades actually) of trying not to let it run my life I have been able to establish a balance of health, diet and fitness. I started Insanity in April 2011 and just started P90X last week, and today marks 5 weeks using Chocolate Shakeology. I have found that eliminating sugars, dairy, animal fat, too much bread (whole grain wraps are my choice now), and too much caffeine has GREATLY improved my health (as it would anyone’s, I suppose). I don’t drink or smoke either. NOTE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE: Smoking & Alcohol could annihilate the digestive tract of a Crohn’s sufferer. My beverages include water (filtered or bottled), and green tea with local honey. Boring but necessary. They also now include chocolate Shakeology!!!

The long and the short of it: in replacing one, sometimes two, meals a day with Shakeology, and a steady dose of Insanity or P90X (I think the exercise is extremely important by the way) my Crohn’s has been virtually non-existent in my daily life. I think it is VERY important to note that over the past 30 years I have learned that ANY changes to a diet of a Crohn’s sufferer needs to be gradual, so if you experience side effects that you can attribute to the Shakeology consider trying less while analyzing your diet for any non-desirable foods. Eating clean (Michi’s Ladder top tiers) has been easy for me, as I jumped in with both feet, but I already had a pretty non-toxic diet.

I’m not a doctor, nor do I consider myself an expert, but I’ve been dealing with Crohn’s for 30 years, so I have some pretty good research under my belt, pun-intended, so for me the Shakeology and eating clean works. You just have to decide what you want, and how badly do you want it. Hope this helps.

I have UC and I've just ordered shakeology for my first time. I currently take 6 pills a day to keep my symptoms under control. Reading this thread has given me some hope that it will have another benefit! Thanks guys!
