Alternatives to pushups for obese people w/ weak knees
Alternatives to pushups for obese people w/ weak knees
weak knees v push up insanity pushups p90x push ups push up alternatives

I currently have a weak left knee due to a difference in length between my left and right legs. (left one is 2 cms longer).

I am truly eager to perform the pushups in P90X and Insanity but I cannot seem to be able to do them as they are done in the videos.

For example, plank position, V push ups, diamond push ups, moving push ups... And so on. Are there any alternatives to them? Or any certain forms I Can maintain to avoid adding so much pressure on my knees?

Thanks you guys!

The first thing I suggest is to try to do the positions on your knees instead of on your toes. You are still working without the pressure of locking the knees out to do your push-ups. I got sore knees as well, especially early on when I was really overweight, so what i did was took a small firm pad or pillow, and put them under my knees and did knee push-ups. Still get the form and strength without the excess stress on the joint of doing full plank. Once I became stronger, then I moved back to the full plank push-ups. P90X this modification works out awesome, INSANITY, not so much. You are moving around like crazy in INSANITY that it can be sometimes hard to get into the modified form, and also maybe more detrimental as you are adding extra steps to prepare yourself for the move. With INSANITY in mind, I would just move slower through those movements, work on strengthening the knee, and work on form. Try it and see what happens. Hope this helps...

Absolutely! I love your response and it makes a lot of sense. I will use a pillow on top of my yoga mat. Will truly make some changes to the whole thing now. Thanks a million!
