When did you start losing weight on Insanity?
Showing 18 results.
Hello; I am on Day 10 of Insanity and love it, but I'm not losing any weight yet. In fact, I gained three pounds. ?!?!

The day I began Insanity, I also stopped nursing my baby and began the Master Cleanse. After getting pretty sick and gaining a lot of water weight over night, I cut out the cleanse and am doing a lot better. HOWEVER. Thought I'd be seeing some results by now...

I am 5'1" and weight 143 (EW, can't believe I admitted that!), but wear a size 6.

So when did you start seeing changes in your weight using this program?

If you log onto the Beachbody site, not teambeachbody, you can search for the P90x newsletter. There is 1 called something like "how to make your own hybrid". In about the 3-4th paragraph it says Insanity is based on "progressive overload". With this type of exercise you can expect to see results by weeks 6-8, month 2. It goes on to say not to try and Hybridize the program for faster, more dramatic results. The programs are designed to function "as is". You will compromise the results by trying even harder when your body isn't up to the level a hybrid is for.

It sounds like your metabolism is going several different directions at once. Just had a pregnancy, stopped nursing and now trying to get to pre-baby weight. WOW. Nutrition is your biggest challenge, in my opinion. I don't know what to say there. Follow the nutrition guide and adjust for an adequate energy level?

I am also on day 10. I did notice 2 lb lost as of this morning. I have heard alot about this. The progress really starts in the second month from what I am hearing. The weight gain your seeing could be your muscles retaining some water. this will go away. I was told very recently to throw the scale away. Do not weigh yourself until day 30. Did you take pics at day 1. if not take them now. use the pics to notice the results. I am in the same boat as you. we are at the same spot in this program. You will see resuls just give it some time and keep pushing play. Hit me up if you need anything. the motivation for me the better.

Don't be discouraged! My youngest is 15 mo old (I stopped nursing 3 mo ago) and I am almost done with week 5 (recovery week). I have 40-45 pounds to lose total. I weighed myself last week (at 30 days, but I am week off schedule due to being sick/out of town for a week) and had lost 7 pounds. I have seen some definite toning and shaping/shrinking in all my trouble areas, so I know my body is on the right track. I also calculated my daily calories using the formula in the nutrition guide and I eat according to the nutrition guide. I don't use shakeology, but I use whey protein as a supplement. I have also heard that most people see the biggest results in month 2, so I am looking forward to that!

Don't know if I've helped, but wanted to encourage you and let you know you aren't alone. (=

It Depends

It sounds like with the other things your doing that Could mess you up

Personally I am gaining weight, but I didnt have any really to lose

For most people it seems like week 2,

Just remember Month 1 is nothing close to the workouts in month 2, so if you dont see the changes you want in month one just wait for month 2.

First of, congrats on starting Insanity, great program! I loved it.

I would worry less about your weight than I would about the inches lost and therefore how your clothes fit. Also, you will notice more changes in Month 2 than Month 1. It kicks up a notch, quite a bit actually, in Month 2.

I suggest you do not weigh yourself, the scale is evil and won't do you good when tracking your progress. Instead, like I said, you should track your measurements and see how your clothes fit. Read Muscle Weighs More Than Fat on my website and also Do Your Measurements Right It may help give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Also, make sure you are taking in enough calories. You have to eat more to lose more, you don't want to get yourself into starvation mode because then your body will actually fuel itself from your muscle instead of fat and that is clearly bad. Have you calculated your caloric intake properly? I have a spreadsheet I can email you designed for Insanity if you are interested. Pop me a message.

Take care,
Jo

Hi Jo,

I'm getting ready to start Insanity following a period of dieting to prep for insanity. I'm interested in your spreadsheet to help with the calorie intake.

Jo is totally right! Throw away the scale until the very end. Weight is such a small part of the big picture. Chalene Johnson has a great article, I think called "Why the Scale Goes Up When Starting a New Workout Program" (I couldn't find it on beachbody, though I am sure it is here, but you could search on a search engine and it pops up). It really put into perspective weight loss/gain. I personally only weighed myself once during Insanity and am glad I did as I only lost 3 lbs. However, I also lost 17 inches! I was pleased with my results and just finished my first week of my second round. There is no truly healthy way to lose a ton of weight quickly. However, by exercising regularly and eating clean, you should be pleased with your results. Those are the truly life changing ways to lose weight. Good luck!

I concur with the others.

I have done Insanity four times and just finished Asylum for the third time. This stuff isn't voodoo. It takes time (much more than ten days). I gained three pounds the first time I did Insanity but dropped two pant sizes. The scale number does not measure fitness level or body fat percentage.

Just keep pushing play throughout and see where you land.

i understand exactly how u feel i am on my second day of month 2 of insanity and so far i have not lost any weight i actually gained 1 pound since starting, it was very discouraging knowing that i try 2 so hard and no results so i decided to forget about the scale and monitor my inches so far ive lost 4 inches on my waist and i feel stronger and toned all around.so i would say try your hardest and u will see results put away the scale and get a measuring tape and take pictures so u can see the changes.
most of all go by how u feel

I didnt start losing weight until the 5th week and then only when I adjusted my cal intake beginning the recovery week. Although I have taken like 5 doses of Oxi pro elite in the last week.

but I did put on approx 4.5# of lean body mass during the first 4 weeks with no increase in weight. if you are into weight training you know that is a pretty appreciable gain considering I only used body weight and even more so when you take into account the lack of aerobic conditioning I had done prior. that came on the heels of a 6# LBM gain during the pervious 43 days of weight training. I mean 10.5 # of LBM gain and 11# of BF loss in 72 days is really pretty impressive.

I doubt I would have got the last 4.5 w/o insanity.

Ive lost at least 3# of tissue weight during recovery week and Im pretty sure that isnt LBM loss but fat.

Hi Jo!

Added you on here and was wondering if you still had the spreadsheet? Figured it might be a long shot since his thread is pretty old.

Thanks!

I have the same question; I was wondering if I did Insanity would I lose any weight in the first four weeks and would it be noticeable? If I did Zumba as well would it help? I'm also following the diet as well.

Its hard not to compare our results with what others have gotten. Your body is unique, there is no exact copy of you anywhere. Trust yourself and keep going. Also we hear big numbers when it comes to weight lost after insanity and its logical that a 200+ pound person will lose more pounds than you. So look at your BMI as well. Also keep looking in the mirror because first you will see your problem areas shrink and tone and then weight will just fall off. ;)
