Hey all, My name is Robert and I have decided to start this thread where I would love for everyone to come and visit and tell us about yourself and what workouts you are doing and have done. I would like this to be a place where we all can come to visit as much as we can and post how our workouts are going, if you missed a day or two and most importantly... Motivate others that need our help. You too can be giving your tips to others here!

Though I am still on my journey, I have help many others succeed by simply motivating them and providing with what I have learned over the last few years and I am very glad that I can share this with you if you need help.
Please feel free to reach out to me or anyone on this thread! Together we are building a "Determined for Success" team that will not settle for less!

If you have not started yet, the new you can start today!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My story:
Never had proper guidance, never got the results I have always wanted even after working out at a gym for many years. As you can read on my profile, I got sucked into the infomercial and that is where it all started! I have done P90X 3 time in the last few years without following the nutrition plan and always wondered why I was not getting the results I see on other people... It was the nutrition! I have since committed and am following the P90X nutrition guide and would like to mention that I am official the lowest in weight I have been in 2 years! I have done P90X back to back and went straight into Insanity then followed it with Asylum (which I am doing now)....
Much of my failures have been lack of knowledge and lack of support! Once I found my coach and he really guided me to realize that it was about showing up daily and having a good nutrition plan in place! So I caved and decided to dust off the P90X nutrition book after many years of telling myself that it was complicated after glancing at it several times... I never really gave it a chance! So I pick it up and have to say that.... It's not that hard to understand.. It was actually pretty easy! So, please don't waste many years like I did on not reading the guide... I promise you that it was an eye opener and has been working for me once I committed!
This is how "YOU" will start noticing a new you! This is when you will look in the mirror and smile cause you see it happening!!!!
We are on this thread to be able to share our stories with many others that will read your story and get inspired. We are here to learn from others, we are here cause we need to be here to change our lives!!!
Robert, thanks for the invite!
So my story is basically in my profile but I will elaborate here a bit. Pretty much my entire life I was extraordinarily lazy. It's weird but in elementary school I would sleep during recess and in high school my laziness just got worse, but towards the end I realized I wanted to lose some weight and I did. I ended high school about 160 lbs but had no idea how to eat so it probably wasn't healthy, as I was still in pretty bad physical shape. Worse, after this, in my freshman year of college, I suffered an injury and was bedridden for a while. Eventually weight just kept piling on and at the end of that year I was shocked that I had gained 30 lbs! So I was 190 and miserable about it, however still eating junk and drinking a lot of beer and alcohol. Over the last two years (I am a junior now) I slowly lost weight, but it wasn't until P90X about 6 months ago where I really learned how to eat and workout. No more junk food, beer or anything. I lost 21 lbs my first round and about 3 inches off my waist. There are still many things I am learning about fitness and nutrition, but there is no such thing as results, only progress. It's a lifelong journey that I am glad I took on. I now rarely cheat (although I live at home so it's hard to avoid even though I grocery shop a lot) and do my best to never miss a workout.
For now just doing a mix of my own thing, a hybrid from many different programs. Hopefully starting a round of insanity August 23 2011.
Bring it!
Jeremy
When I was in high school I use to run about 5 miles a day to keep in shape for softball practice. Which I played all 4 years of highschool. In college, I couldn't at first find someone to workout with so it went down the hill. Then a couple of semester later I did and stayed in shape. After getting married (this summer it was 15 years) and trying to have kids, I have went from a size 5-6 to a size 18W. I teach 4th grade. I saw myself in one of my kids pictures this past year and oh my goodness. I was so embarressed that I had gotten so huge. I have lost some weight I am down to a 16W. I have attempted to do Insanity once but I don't think I was motivated enough to get through month two. It was hard. I am trying insanity again. Actually I started today. I did so much better than the first time. The first time it took me a week before I could complete an entire workout. So, this time, I completed it. My goal: I don't know about getting back into a 5-6 pants, maybe 9-10's and staying healthy. I live in Tenn. and am 37 years old. Looking forward to posting everyday and reading everyone's success story. My short term goal. School starts back up Aug. 8th. I really want to buy new school clothes that are one size smaller than what I am.
Guys - Thanks for posting your story!!! Cannot wait to hear more stories from others.
JBONES9590 - 21 pounds is a nice number! Trust me, keep pressing that play button and don't think about the timeframe! One day at a time!!!
Watch out for the junk food! Having 3 kids, It was pretty hard for me no to sneak in a snack here in there in the past.
Getnshape111 - I hear ya on seeing yourself in the picture! Reality sucked for me!! Great job on getting back into Insanity! I had to do X a few times before doing Insanity!!!! So I have to say that you are braver than me!!! If you commit, you will get the results and will be shopping soon enough. We can work on the nutrition thing if you like!
Before I went on vacation 2 weeks ago, I was at 204.5 lbs., came back from vacation (did not eat too bad… Ok, maybe I could have eaten cleaner) weighing at 209 (talk about depressing)… I knew I was going to start Asylum the following Monday along with Shakeology and recovery drinks along with the P90X fat shredder phase…. This morning I am down to 203 lbs.! This is officially the lowest I have been in, in 2 years!!!! Something is working!!!! Though I know it’s a combination of everything, I am leaning towards the shakeology because of how I am not having my cravings. Also need to mention that I gave up my coffee for the shakeology and it is working for me.
My workout update: Today I did Asylum’s strength workout and though I loved it (cause I’m crazy), I found myself feeling drained towards the end of some moves… I definitely need to work on my stamina!!! Or maybe a bit lighter weight!!! Not sure… But as you can see in the picture below.
I held myself accountable for my workout today!!! Did you??
Did Day 2. Cardio Power and Resistance. CPR!! What appropriate abbrev. emoticon I was thinking about shakology when I started back to school, cause that would be a great breakfast. However, I am right now drinking a shake protein from GNC and it leaves a jucky after taste. Does shakeology do that to or not??? My nutrition is my focus this time around. Last easter for lent I gave up candy, sugar, cookies,all that stuff. Boy it was a withdrawal. I would like to focus more on portion control and eating healthy. Which I live in the country and have a garden, we are currently canning and freezing everything from the garden. Hope everyone has a great day and a good workout. See ya tomorrow.
Hi All--I am close enough to say 30 years old. I started p90x in september of 09 and completed 53 straight days losing 26 lbs before falling off track during my wife's 1st pregnancy and just never got back into working out consistently since then. Tired of excuses about why I can't get back at it so I'm trying to find the motivation and drive again that I felt during my p90x workouts. I've actually lost about 5-7 more lbs in the past 20 months or so since then but feel soft and am looking to drop another 20 and firm/tone. I'm 6'3". I was 270 at my largest and am currently 235 with a goal of 210. My original reason for starting p90x was to improve my health. My blood pressure was 150/95 and my resting heart rate was well into the 80's. I vowed to get into shape so my kids can enjoy their father and since my Wife's mother passed away in december of a heart attack I've been struggling to get back on track. I eat fairly well and am an active person but just need some drive so I thought I'd get back on these message boards because they helped in the past. Thanks in advance for any motivation.
Premier (Jake) invited me to join up here with all the progress we are making. Therefore, Hello! I had replied to Jake's encouragement and how he's just coming back into the program.
This is my first time with P90X. I have about 5-7 lbs. to shed. I am older, 47 years to be exact and a business owner who sits and doesn't get any workout other than tae kwon do and hiking which I was recently taken up (which helps), but not enough tightening and toning throughout the body. My problem areas are the arms and tummy (what woman doesn't complain about this)?
I started Sunday, 7/17/2011 with the P90X and I'm opting to do the Lean program. So far, two workouts and my arms are SORE. Can't wait to start seeing results and tightening.
Glad to be part of a group that wants to stay connected. Would love to learn more about nutrition. I'd love to eat healthier.
Getnshape111 - "CPR"… LOL
Yes I agree that certain drinks can be a bit pretty gross!
What type of protein are you drinking? Whey or Soy (another kind)? Are you following a nutrition plan? I just sent you a buddy request. Let me know...
Rustywildcat74 - Awesome that you decided to get back on track! I was at 236 when I started (again) this time around and am now at 203. I am working my way down to hopefully 175-185 pounds. As you can see, I am still on my journey and will also need help from you guys to keep me going. Since you played football, I think we can get a good amount of size on you fairly quick. Remember, the more muscle... The more muscle burns fat.
csmom1964 - Welcome! 5-7 pounds of "fat" loss is pretty good. The soreness will take a few days and eventually ease up. Tae Kwon Do... WOW that is great cardio! I would like to know your nutrition plan also.
I would like to thank Jake first and foremost for blasting an email out!!! You are the man Jake!!! Remind me to send you a sample of Shakeology!!!
If any of you are interested in my help, please send me a buddy request if you have not done so already and we can work together to get you on the right track.
Again, welcome all to the thread and I hope that I will be reading your posts of your daily accountability posts!
Remember, we are not here to judge… We are here to make you physically and mentally stronger.
Well since we are going to try and put out progress here I will put in my two cents. I started day 1 yesterday and did ok at it but wnated to do better so I tried it again for today. I am doing the P90X classic and my goal is to loose at least 30lbs but strive for 50-60. I do not know if it is a combination of the heat (we have been averaging 108 a day) and poor eating habits here but I am just physically exausted. Lots more than I remember the first time around. So tomorrow I will shoot to finish Ab ripper and Plyo.
A few people have emailed me and asked about the nutrition that I am doing. On and off I had been doing weight watchers and if I stick to it the program works. My typical meal for a day may be:
Breakfast: Grapenuts, fat-free yogurt, english muffin, and a V8
Lunch: Turkey or chicken sandwich, or maybe a chicken salad
Dinner: Usually a healthy choice meal
I think this time around though I will work on the nutrition from the P90X plan. If anyone has done this one though do you know once you finish phase 3 is that what you stay in to eat or do you rotate things around a little bit?
Other than that I hope everyone is doing well starting off and I hope more people opt to post on here. I do have a facebook page if any of you do and are interested in buddying up there (I am not sure how to post the web address for it though).
Jake - 30-60 pounds is achievable! You have already did step 1. “You showed up”. Keep showing up and you will keep seeing results! One thing I like to say is to not rely on the scale so much when doing a weighted program like P90X! Since you will be adding muscle, the scale will reflect a not so nice number. I want you to go by the way your clothes are fitting!!!
A friend of mine told me to not buy more clothes because I will keep losing the weight... It's great that I am.. But I don't have money to keep buying new clothes so often.
It will happen!!!We will make this happen.
Phase 3 questions: Once you are finished you would tweak the diet depending on what program you are going to do next. If you do a program like Power 90 then you might want to lighten up on the carbs.. But is you do something like Insanity or Asylum. You might want to bump up the carbs.
Your nutrition was pretty clean... But I am concerned that you were not eating as much or as often and your body could have gone into starvation mode. At this point it would hold on to whatever you put in.
Did you read the P90X guide yet? There is a whole lot of info in that guide. I also remember sending out a link a while back that explained nutrition to a "T"... Let me see if I can find it and get it to you guys!!!! This article was so informative and has opened my eyes to understanding nutrition much more. "Keep an eye out for that"
Accountability: As you can see... 585 calories on Asylum's "back to core" workout.
Normally the calories burned are much higher on cardio days. Thought it was a great workout, it was nice not having to do cardio!
I want to know your accountability results!
Today I decided to save the Shakeology for later today! Since I am on the Fat shredder plan, I am finding myself yawning and pretty exhausted and very hungry today. This has not been the case for over a week.... I need my Shakeology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Robert, stumbled across your post and so a lot of similarities for the drive to get started. I too had my first shirt off no worries experience this summer. Funny how mentally damaging society is huh? Even now I still somewhat feel self concious while other times I have almost fortgotten!
Just wanted to chime in and say hey since I love using the motivation i get from the threads.
Hi Robert. I was really glad to read your post. I ordered P90X about six months ago and am just ready to start the program on 7/23. I waited until I was ready to COMMIT to the whole program, especially the nutrition plan. I have to say that I am still a little overwhelmed by the detail of it, but as I am putting my first shopping list together I am hoping it is as easy after awhile as it was for you! Would you agree the first weeks are the hardest?
Hi Jake. I am starting the P90X program Saturday - committing to the nutrition plan has been the hardest thing to prepare for. How are you doing?
Not going to lie.. Nutrition was my downfall in the beginning! As I told Jake, I had done P90X a few times and did not follow the nutrition plan and yes, I did lose weight and felt very strong… But never got the results I have been seeing on pictures and on the infomercial! Why, was that… It was nutrition!
So I committed this time to do whatever it takes and start with the nutrition guide have glanced at for about 2 years and skimmed though it and thought it was way too complicated…. Guess what…. IT WAS NOT HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so shocked on how easy it was to understand the nutrition guide that I re-read it!
In the last several month’s I have lost almost 40 pounds and 18% of body fat…. And I am still going!!!!
So what I am trying to get at is… PLEASE READ THE NUTRTION GUIDE… IT’S NOT THAT HARD!!! This is where many people fail! They give up cause they don’t give it a chance!
I am glad you committed! This is a big step...
Press that play button and follow the nutrition guide and you will start seeing the new you!
DOH!! Just killed my right elbow doing lying down try extensions! Something went pop and it felt like a hot needle went into the center of my elbow! Sux! Tri kickbacks didn't hurt much so I sub'd those in instead. Prob strained a tendon I guess. Time to get creative. Weird how others tri exercises like push ups didn't hurt at all but I can't even put on my elbow on the table without a ZING!
well... here's my story. i've been fat and lazy, and skinny and active. i go through cycles, and my life so far has been one fluctuation after another. i really slowed down after the 4 kids, so i am pickin up the pace again. i could elaborate, but its pretty easy to figure out. crappy childhood, depression, all the stuff that makes someone go and show sympathy. since i have the personality of a cactus, i call it like i see it. i felt sorry for myself, and i make excuses if i can to not do stuff because i simply dont feel like it. i am making myself be active, and not so... blah all the time. i want to run with my kids everywhere and not get winded by the time i hit the sidewalk. i like walking, i hate running. this is really to get my life on track... now if i wasnt so picky on what i eat... and even from the pictures thinking thats hard to believe, i really am picky. i just need to find stuff i will eat that is good for me. will post more as time allows.
