Second month of Insanity seems "too hard"?
I know "too hard" just sounds like an excuse, but I promise I'm not making excuses not to do it. The first month was hard at the beginning, but always seemed doable if I pushed hard enough, and of course I made it through just fine or I wouldn't be on month two. However, the second month doesn't seem like I can even keep up if I try. An entire hour of sweating to intense cardio with even harder exercises, and it doesn't even seem possible to me. I've never worked out until this, like I know lots of people have. I've been pretty good with my diet, though not perfect. I've used a protein drink for a couple weeks. I've been pushing myself in the first month. I can't figure out why this doesn't even seem possible! There is the fact that I smoke cigarettes, but it didn't stop me in the first month. I know I should've quit before even starting, but anyone who has ever smoked knows its a lot harder than just saying "I don't smoke any more" and being done. Sure, some people can, but for most its very difficult. I just don't know what to do. I'm determined to finish the whole program, and I'm not going to stop doing Insanity because the second month is "too hard". There just doesn't seem to be a point in putting in the dvd if I spend more time gasping for breath than actually exercising. Please give me some advice on what to do! I really, really, need to finish Insanity, if not for the health and appearance benefits, just to know that I can do it. I just don't know what to do to actually complete the workout instead of just putting in the dvd and calling it done.

Yeah smoking is not gonna help. Glad you quit! That is pretty good if you can get through the first 30 days and were smoking lol. You just make sure you finish each session even if you have to take breaks. When I would get tired I would just stop count to 5 then get back into it! DIG DEEP!!!!!! JOSH!!! lol

Insanity is the most appropraitely named program simply due to the fact that month 2 exists.

And yes, it probably isn't possible to 'complete' the DVD. don't worry about it. Even Shaun T is pausing and grabbing his knees during the workouts. NO ONE in the videos finishes every single sequence so-don't beat yourself up about it.

It is very challenging. Smoking, yeah you know the drill on that one.

One thing that I would recommend is the Recovery and Results formula. It will really make you feel better post workout.

With the diet, one thing i found is that I ate a ton of food during month two. And yes you'll still lose fat. NOT eating enough is the worst thing. So make sure you're taking in enough calories especially with month 2. (you can burn over 1000 calories)

So my advice is to just go at your own pace. These always feel hard. Even in week 4 when you know you're doing more than you did week 1, it feels just as hard. Stay in your own skill level with them. It's almost impossible to not push yourself with this workout, so don't think what I just said means taking it easy!

Drink a ton of water, track what you eat making sure it's enough. Try the recovery drink. Shakeology is amazing as well.

Good luck! let me know if i can help you

Month 2 IS hard...it makes Month 1 feel like a warm up. It is dramatically more difficult that Month 1. I am a few days into my third week of Month 2 and I can speak from experience....you will be able to do a little more and push a little more every time you do the workouts. Don't beat yourself up because you have to rest. Take that rest and get back into it and just keep pushing yourself. Only you know what you can do and only you can push yourself to dig deep. Insanity Month 2 IS insane....but this is my second round of Insanity so I can tell you that you will make it....and you might even surprise yourself at how much better you are at the Month 2 workouts by the last week. Smoking probably is not helping you...but completing Insanity should still be possible.

Month 2 is hard. I agree. Max Plyo is my version of hell. I finished Insanity a couple of weeks ago and still could not finish a single workout by the last week, BUT I certainly finished much more of it than I did the first week. The first week of month one I found myself just standing there asking Shaun T aloud if this was a joke. I kept telling my husband that they made month 1 to avoid lawsuits because if the whole program was month 2 people would be having heart attacks and injuries right and left. It should get easier, but not easy. I still can't do a single full body drill let alone 6 of them. My goal was always to not turn it off and get more than I did the last time. Just keep pushing play. You can do it.

Anyone looking for a coach who actively works with people? Look no further. I am here to help you in ANY WAY THAT I CAN. I have done one round of P90X, and am finishing up my second round of Insanity. They are all hard workouts. However, they do still say "modify," and "rest when needed." I know...it is Insanity - "rest is irrelevant...persistance is better"! Well, persistence is success, but rest contributes to that persistent mindset.
So, you all have my "number" if you need to "call a friend." I'll be there! - COUNT ON IT!

I have just started month 2 and just finished day 2, I am a smoker as well and have been smoking through the entire workout. I have cut back a lot, but what I found to help me is if i workout in the morning before I do anyhting. If I wait to get off work to start the Insanity I have definetly smoked all day. This has helped me cut back a lot and I plan on keeping my routine and finally quiting for good. Also I know what you mean about it getting really tough in the second month, but just remember this dvd was made to push you and everybody no matter their current build or physical shape so just give it your best at your own comfort level but definetly try to find ways to cut back on the smoking.emoticon

Hang in there and take breaks when needed! There is alot of great advice on this thread from other coaches. I really do not have that much to add. I have completed INSANITY and must say the second month is a killer but a challange. If you look even the cast members are breathing hard and quit at times! Just don't press pause, let the program continue and jump back in when you are ready. It is going to take time for your body to adjust to such an extreme workout. Listen to your body and push it. It is amazing if you let yourself push through hard times. I am currently completing my second round of INSANITY and I am blogging everyday I complete a workout. Check it out, I state in my blog this is a tough workout but it can be done! We all are here for you! Accomplish your mission!!
