Welcome to Power 90

6/30/14 9:11 AM
Power 90 is one of my favorite workout programs. It was the first Beachbody workout I ever did, and the first time I saw result from a workout program. I set up the message board for encouragement and accountability for anyone using Power 90. If you stick with the program...you will see results!

Please feel free to post questions, comments on your workouts and progress as this is meant to be a tool to help you achieve your goals. Logging into WOWY everyday and recording your workout as well as telling others what you did, will help keep you motivated and on track. I do not schedule my workouts in WOWY but record each one live or shortly after I completed it, it's great to look at a calendar full of green boxes for completed workouts!

I will make a post almost every day and I hope to hear from you!

Steve

Just Announced! They are finally going to remake Power 90 (P90), which I think is one of the best program to start with or do at any point along the way. I am planning on doing the new program when it is released in the Fall. So I hope you will join me!

I hope you have made it your goal to complete Power 90! You will find that if you stick with it you will develop good habits of working out and eating health. I hope you are recording your result so you can see on paper your progress throughout the program.

Do your best, forget the rest is a great motto for starting out. If you need a break, pause the DVD, know your limits but stick with it and keep pushing yourself to do a little better each day.

I'm rooting for your success!

I hope you are striving to do your best and be your bests! Power 90 is a great workout for anyone and you can challenge yourself by using heavier weights and/or doing more reps. Working out burns calories but you also have to pay attention to your nutrition in order to get the most out of any workout program. Simple changes in your diet can make a big difference. Drinking water instead of pop is one of the changes I made that helped me lose weight with Power 90. Instead of having two Coke a day, I now drink water. I used to hate water, now I love it and find it easy to drink 10-12 glasses a day.

Have a great weekend and keep pushing play!

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing. -Abraham Lincoln

I read an article the other day by a champion tri-athlete who said that if you want to succeed in sports, you have to be a little selfish because it takes personal sacrifice. I have found that to be the same with committing to a workout program; you have to be a little selfish to do this for yourself. Life is busy and it is too easy to let the business of everyday distract you from working out. You have to set it in your mind that you are going to work out every day and guard you scheduled workout time. Sometimes you have to be flexible, which is why I usually have two time slots each day to work out (primary at lunch, fall back in the evening). Most programs are 5-6 days each week, so some times I have to float my off day and on a rare occasion miss a day.

This personal time will improve your health both physically and mentally as you see progress and know you have the wherewithal to complete your workout and stick with a plan. Plus it's a great stress reliever!

The rest of the world lives to eat, while I eat to live. –Socrates

I love reading articles and lists of best foods to eat for losing fat. I read some the other day and wanted to pass along some of the information.

Eggs – This is one item that I’ve seen on numerous lists, including the nutrition guides provided by Beachbody. The importance of a good breakfast is stressed in about every article and guide that I’ve read on losing weight as it gets your metabolism up and running and eggs provide protein and essential nutrients plus they are quick to make in the morning. I like to put them on a wheat bagel, English muffin or an Arnold Wheat Slim. That and a cup of coffee gets me off to a great start. When I’m running short on time, I stop by Subway for a breakfast melt, with eggs, turkey, provolone, spinach, green peppers, a tomato and jalapenos!

Apples – We have an orchard close to our house and I’ve been buying lots of apples lately and I have found that when I eat an apple, I am full for hours. I try to maintain an eating schedule of every 2.5-3 hours but I have found that when I eat an apple, I’m really not hungry when it is time to eat again. The fiber in apples is very filling and they are fat free and cholesterol free. I don’t like to eat an apple on an empty stomach, but they are a great mid-morning or afternoon snack.

Whey Protein – Whey protein is a byproduct of creating cheese and has been around even before Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet! I have been trying to gain muscle and so I generally drink whey protein (Beachbody Chocolate) to try to get more protein in my diet. An article I read said that research showed consuming whey protein showed a loss in weight, body fat and most importantly inches off the waist.

Several other items on these lists include: Almonds, Greek Yogurt, Tuna/Salmon, Milk, Whole Grains, Oats, Spicy Peppers (Jalapenos, Cayennes) and Lean Meats (Turkey, Chicken, Lean Beef).

I also like Shakeology, which contains 3 grams of fiber and 18 grams of protein along with antioxidants, prebiotics, essential vitamins and minerals.

Hope this helps you on your journey!

Are you struggling with getting started or staying on track? Sometimes a 90 day plan seeks like a long journey but once you get started and see progress (more reps, more endurance, weight loss, pants fitting looser...etc) it becomes easier to push play! Sometimes you need to be accountable to a buddy or group. Working out is hard but you feel so much better when you are done, you feel a sense of accomplishment.

So push play, let me know how you are doing on this tread, and I will check in to make sure you are staying on track...that is the whole point of these message boards and WOWY, so see you are not alone and we are all routing for your success!

I hope you read this and find that determination and will power to stick with your workout program. I own quite a number of Beachbody workouts, but the one I recommend the most as the best workout to start is Power 90. The great thing about Power 90 is that it 30-45 minutes and anyone at any level can get a great workout. You can always increase your intensity, add more weight and/or reps to challenge yourself. I find myself coming back to Power 90 in between different workout programs and always feel like I got in a good workout.

Keep pushing play,

Steve

Crash diets & pills may make a temporary difference but to really gain a lifelong lasting fitness, you need daily exercise and to eat healthy. The programs offered by Beachbody all include nutrition guides along with the fitness program. You really do need both to get results.

I had great results with Power 90 and know others who also got great results...but you have to do the work.

Stick with it!

I like this quote because it compells you to take action and do what you can. With any fitness program, the key is showing up everyday and doing the work. You might not be able to do all the moves and the whole workout but do what you can and keep pushing yourself every day to do just a little bit more. You will be suprised at your progress over 30, 60 and 90 days!

I've been working out to Insanity but today I forgot my DVDs so I did Power 90 Sculpt 3-4 at lunch time. What a great workout! Power 90 is my fall back workout because, it's a very timely, efficient total body workout.

Stick with it and you will get results!

Like many things in life, success comes via hard work. The same is true to see results from a fitness program; it takes dedication, challenging yourself to push harder with each workout, and eating healthy. These are not difficult plans or programs and there are many great success stories with Beachbody but it does require you to be an active participant.

Are you giving it your best?

Have a healthy day!

How often should I do Power 90? Daily? I started P90 a couple years ago, then got away from it doing other routines mixing cardio with weights. I completed Insanity two months recently then went back and mixed it up doing a program from Month One on one day or two, then doing something from Month Two the next day or two.

Tonight I started P90 again with Sculpt 3-4 and had a great workout. Should I do P90 5 days a week or less days?

Hi Propsdir,

The format of the P90 program is 6 days a week alternating between strength training (Sculpt + Ab Ripper) and cardio (Sweat). I like the program because it is quick and efficient. I see you have done Insanity, which I think is one of the toughest cardio workouts (I'm in week 6!), so you might want to do a hybrid of P90 (Sculpt+Abs) and Insanity (cardio). I see you are starting with Sculpt 3-4, which is a great workout. When I'm in between workout programs, I always go back to P90 Sculpt 3-4 + Ab Ripper 200 for a good total body workout.

You also might consider the P90 Master Series, Sculpt 5-6 takes it up another notch but it is still pretty timly and does not require pull-ups.

Feel free to contact me or send me an e-mail.

Hi Tammy,

With P90 you should see both weight loss and muscle tone improvement. I had a friend who lost 48 lbs with P90 and I lost 20 lbs with P90. The key to get your best results is to eat healthy and follow the program 6 days a week. The nutrition guide that comes with P90 will give you some good ideas on how to change your diet and the workout will burn calories as well as reshape your body.

Another way to stay on track is to be connected to others through this message board, it creates accountability as well as motivation and encouragement.

Have a healthy day!

I recently read an article on the benefits of strength training. Not only does it improve your strength and tone, it burns more fat that cardio training. A total body weight training session can continue to burn fat for up to 2 days, as your body works to repair your muscle fibers. P90 is a great total body workout and if you only have time to work out 3 days a week, I would stick with the Sculpt workouts.

I'm nine workouts away from completing Insanity, however, today was a recovery day so I did Power 90 Sculpt 3-4 with a friend at lunch. What a great workout, Power 90 continues to be my fall back workout when I'm in between programs or just looking for a quick total body workout. In only 30-40 minutes, you are done and have had a great workout. It really is all you need; P90X, Insanity, the Asylum are personal challenges to see how far you can push yourself but all you really need is a 30-45 minute workout like Power 90.

Stick with it an you will see results!

Have a healthy day,
Steve

I just had to pop in and say Hi!. I am so glad to see a recent thread that wasn't resurrected from years ago with people talking about P90 and not P90X or X2. I am just getting started on P90 and I was hearing people say to just get p90X and modify it. But I just didn't want to do that because I knew I had not done any regular exercise in over a decade. I am on week two and so far so good. I enjoy the circuit more than the cardio. The Ab Ripper is just what it says, however I can't do all of the moves even though I attempt them.

Anyway like I said I just wanted to pop in and say hello and that I'm doing P90 and enjoying it emoticon
