Who's ready to crank it up another notch? Team Risanare is! We'd love for you to join us.

Staring January 2nd, we are going to be Bringing It even harder with P90x2. If you are starting earlier or later, no worries. You are welcome to post here.

We will use this thread to encourage each other, share our successes, and provide support when times are difficult. The goal is to create a tight-knit community of people dedicated to developing, reclaiming, and restoring our health and fitness with this program (Risanare).

Over the next month, I'll be reading the guides and watching the workouts and posting my comments/reviews on this thread.

If you have questions, post them. I'll do my best to answer them. Having all the information on one thread will be helpful.

Hope you will join us on the journey. Let's do it!

Finished reading the Fitness Guide today. This is a world-class program and I'm raring to go. I will write a review of the guide tonight or tomorrow with some thoughts.

Wanted to try the Recovery/Mobility disc on my rest day yesterday but didn't get the chance. Some of the team has tried Plyocide, X2 Core, and Total Body and all had positive reviews on the workouts.

So excited for this program. 3 more weeks!

meal plan
12/12/11 7:55 PM as a reply to TheNit.
I've started reading the material that came with the p90x2 kit. What is not entirely clear to me just yet is what is the best way to put together a meal plan. I might not know this because I have not finished reading, but I wanted to get perspective from others who have done the p90x thing and what was learned as far as being successful with food.

Hey Nick. Welcome aboard.

I haven't read the P90x2 nutrition plan yet but I will soon and write up some thoughts once I do. I'm not sure exactly how it compares to the P90x plan but I do know there's much more flexibility with it.

In my 2 rounds, I didn't follow the nutrition plan to the T. But I did do my best to keep with the general theory which is starting with high percentages of protein in the beginning and building in more carbs in phases 2 and 3. Your body just can't handle lower carb percentages for that long.

As for what to eat, always focus on eating clean, unprocessed foods as well as avoiding the white deaths like sugar, salt, and flours. My favorite tip is to try to do most of your grocery shopping on the outer edges of the store- produce, lean meats, light dairy, eggs. If it spoils quickly, it's generally good. And as for carbs - choose foods made with whole grains.

What I do know is that eating well is as important as the workouts. So the closer you follow the plan, the better the results. Hope that helps.

I couldn't wait. Decided to substitute in Plyocide instead of my scheduled PlyoX tonight.

2 words... Great. Workout.

What you need: Medicine ball, stability ball or towel, band or towel, foam roller, mat, and WATER. I also didn't realize I could use a plyo box so I quickly found an empty cooler which I'm fortunate didn't tip over. I may just find a sturdy chair to use next time.

Plyocide starts off with an extended stretch period using the foam roller. It's going to take a little time for me to get the hang of using it. But I can already start to notice the benefits and why it's used.

The workout is broken up into 5 rounds, each with 4 exercises. I won't cover the individual exercises but what I noticed was that each on seems to get progressively more difficult through the round, elevating your heart rate. And each round seemed to get a little more difficult as well.

I'd say it's as much like the leg exercises in P90x Legs/Back as it is to PlyoX. Meaning there are more 1 legged exercises and less leaving the ground than PlyoX. The exercises where you do leave the ground were more like Insanity than PlyoX. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's a hybrid of those 3 types of workouts.

My favorite exercises were the jack in the box knee tucks, frog burpee hops, and power 90 cross hops. Those 3 wear you out quickly.

Edit: One quick thought. Although I won't know until tomorrow, Plyocide seem to be easier on the knees than PlyoX. Plus it doesn't have Dom so we all know it's gotta be better ;)

At the end there is an extended 12 minute stretch period, which I wasn't expecting. I can tell that the P90x program is going to focus more on stretching and the self myofascial release. True athletic training.

I may give the Yoga workout a spin on Thursday instead of YogaX. As for the rest of them, I think I'm going to wait until we start on 1/2.

Welcome Pete!

Basically it's a group of people, who I currently work with but haven't yet posted on this thread, that are going to start P90x2 on the same day and post here about their workouts. We'll use this thread to keep each other motivated and answer each other's questions about the program.

I think it'll be especially helpful with P90x2 since it's just been released. If you've never done a program with a team like this, it's a more enjoyable experience as you'll be able to share your successes and issues with others who understand. Home workouts are great but there is often a sense of loneliness. The team environment on the message boards helps with that.

I'm excited you decided to join us and check back in often as I'll be posting more reviews and thoughts leading up to 1/2.

Allright Nick. The guide that comes with P90X, and P90X2 can be confusing as hell. My best advice is, don't over think it. What I did was figure out how many proteins, dairy, fruits, vegetables, carbs, etc, I needed daily. Then I said to hell with the pre configured meals, and I looked at the ingredients list. Use that list to come up with meals you and your family will enjoy. The sky's the limit. Most of all, and this is the most important part, you can't go into P90X, or P90X2 without dedicating yourself 100% ALL THE WAY. DON'T CHEAT! I committed 100%, and I lost 60 pounds, got off my medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar, in less than the 90 days in the program. It was a bitch, but I made it. But I didn't cheat one freaking time. No beer, eating out, fast food, etc. The absolute key is, dedicate yourself 100%. I'm here for you brother. Contact me anytime @ mattterrill@gmail.com. Bring it!

@TeamTerrill thx for the encouragement man. The last think I need to do is sabotage my success but over thinking - which I normally do. Thx for bringing me back doen into reality. I am looking forward to see what @TheNit has to say about it after he reads it.

I definitely appreciate the guidance fellas. I am all in, it's already been tough dumping the soft drink habit (https://twitter.com/nickfloyd/status/146779403236556800) - I know it's gonna be totally worth the work.

Welcome zivvion! Keep checking back before 1/2 as I will be posting more reviews.

One question that was brought up was the schedule. If you've read the fitness guide, the schedule is extremely flexible. When you feel you're ready to move onto the next phase, you move on.

Everyone can decide what's best for them but my plan is to do 3 5 week phases with a recovery week in between phases 1/2 and phases 2/3. What do you think?

Had planned on doing legs/back yesterday but didn't have access to my living room where I can easily attach my pullup bar. So I decided to do 1 on 1 on 1 leg. One of the dvds that come free w P90x2. Yikes!

The three killer moves. 1. 1 legged chair pose for a minute each side. 2. 2 minutes of 1 legged squats - 15 seconds rotation each side. 3. Sitting down then standing up from a chair on one leg for 10 reps each side. Try that once and you'll see.

Give it a shot if you're looking for a good leg workout.

Hello Team Risanare,

Just took out X2 Core for a test drive. After seeing the video on the weekend I realized I better test it out. The moves are tough b/c they are so different and they require lots of balance moves. At this point it would be unfair to compare CORESYN to X2 CORE but MY workout was not as intense b/c I was focusing on learning the moves. Do not underestimate the form and balance requirements. I could not complete some of the moves in the allotted time. Working with the balance ball is not easy if you're not accustomed to it.

I did think the warm up was a little much. I am hoping that once I get the moves down the intensity will come.

That said, OMG, the Foam Roller is awesome. I have a problem with my left hip/hip flexor. I let the form roller work on it and WOW. I am going to love using it, especially as I prepare for my races in the coming year.

I will be testing PLYOCIDE tomorrow evening.

Starting Jan 2! I have reviewed the first 4 workouts just to get a feel and make sure my equipment is dialed in. My med balls needed some adjustment as well as getting the right amount of air in the stability ball. All I can say is these workouts force you to use your mind as well as body. I like barbell lifting and think I will be able to do a 3-day per week Wendler 5-3-1 series along with P90X2, the workouts will serve as assistance work and conditioning. Really looking forward to getting started!

Welcome aboard Elmer, Mike, and Amy. Love to see the group growing. Less than 2 weeks!

Amy, I agree. It's going to take some getting used to these exercises. But I can see them being effective.

Good evening friends....

Just took the second P90X2 video out for a spin, "PLYOCIDE"; a more intense version than Plyometrics. Lots of stretch time in the beginning and I LOVE my Foam roller!

The 18 exercises that make up the routine are super intense and include elements of Yoga, medicine balls, and things you would see on the field during football training camp. If you had trouble with Warrior III and balancing moves in general, you will have a tougher time with this (I need to brush up on my Yoga before Jan 2nd). The moves are tough and fun at the same time.

The new stretching techniques at the end were just OK. I need more convincing in this area, but it was only the first time, so we'll see how they go in the future.

Overall very good workout. I'm looking forward to Jan 2nd.

Geoff, I have never worked out on the WOWY Gym. Is that how we're going to do it or will it just be everyone does their thing and then report in?
