A little about me:

3 years ago I was 250 lbs, on high blood pressure medication, had obstructive sleep apnea and was not getting good reports at my doctors office. I had an EKG and got a fairly normal result. Fairly Normal...not good enough. My dad died at 50 of a heart attack and I was about to be 43.
So I dieted and watched the P90X infomercial for about 3 months then on April 9th 2009 I kick it into high gear and started my P90X and my beachbody journey. I completed P90X in July and became a coach. I did Insanity, then Rev Abs then more P90X. Turbo Fire came out and I did that and learned I love HIIT. Then Insanity the Asylum came out last spring. I took that challenge and loved it. All total I've done 4 or 5 rounds of P90X, 2 rounds or Insanity, 1 round of the Asylum, 1 round of Turbo Fire and Rev Abs and I've also done a lot of my own workouts that I've created to challenge me.
I've lost over 90 lbs total, lowered my bodyfat from 34-35% to 11 and I run a 6 1/2 minute mile. During my last physical my Dr. said I had a heart of a runner. I'm happy with that.

If I can do it you can do it too. Here is my before and after. Now I'm looking to add some size.

A little about me:

I was born fat (like most of my family). I was obese for most of my life. My heaviest was somewhere around 270 - 280 lbs. I tried dieting several times, and would lose some weight, but would gain all the weight back and then some.

Eventually I was able to get down to 230 lbs. It was better than 280 lbs, but I wasn't fit and didn't like the way my body looked. I also had hypertension despite being relatively young (early 30s).

When I started using Beachbody programs in 2009, I was really out of shape. I couldn't do P90X but ended up doing one round of Power 90. Later I was able to do P90X and an Insanity hybrid. The impact of exercise and proper diet in my health has been enormous. For example, my blood pressure became normal without any meds. I'm so grateful for that.

Everything was going well, until I had a back injury last year. It was really tough to recover from that and I didn't really exercise for several months. So I lost some of my fitness level, muscle mass and definition. But I'm now recovered and looking forward to this round of P90X2.

Here are some pics. Sorry for not showing my face, but I teach and I'd rather not.

Last day of Bootcamp360 for this year. It was a killer 700 calorie workout.

Dean called it the 12 days of bootcamp. Get this.

On the 1st day of bootcamp my true love made me do...1 minutes of plank. On the 2nd day of bootcamp my true love made me do 2 back fly and 1 minutes of plane. On the 3rd day of bootcamp my true love made me do 3 rows, 2 back flys and 1 minutes of plank. on the 4th day of bootcamp my true love made me do 4 jump lunges, 3 rows, 2 back flys and 1 minutes of plank. On and one to 12. Here are the exercises we did.

5 pushup jacks
6 power jumps
7 bicep curls
8 jack squats
9 lying down tricep extentions
10 speed skaters
11 shoulder presses
12 push up burpees

So all in all we did:
12 push up burpees
22 shoulders presses
30 speed skaters
36 tricep extensions
40 jump squats
42 biceps curls
40 power jumps
45 pushup jacks
40 jump lunges
33 rows
22 back flys
And
12 minutes of planks...all various kinds.

We burned 700 calories in this baby.
It was a tough but rewarding workout. Loved it.

Coachladdyboy, That's so badass..........My story is a little different though. I was just a skinny guy with a poor diet, until about 4 years ago when I randomly gave up soda and fast food. Few months after that I bought a padded mat and started doing situps at home.

At first I couldn't do 25, but then I could do 50, then 100, then 100 with weight on my chest. Then I started to buy some free-weights. Used them for a little before I started going to a gym. After about 1.5 years at the gym I was seriously starting to plateau. Probably because I hadn't changed my diet enough because I still ate pizza and fried food.

Then last year in December 2010 I started giving P90X some serious thought. I was already in good shape, owned my own house and lived alone, had the equipment, and wanted my upcoming baseball season to be better than ever.

So in preparation of P90X I did Power90 cardio 3-4 and ab ripper 200 for 6 weeks to improve my cardio. then I started P90X in February 2011, killed all 13 weeks, did 4 more weeks, then started my baseball season. Big diet change too. No pizza, no fried food, supplement regularly, the whole 9 yards.

During baseball season I didn't work out at all. I'd tried that before and got burned bad! Being sore for games is completely counter-productive, so I didn't even risk it and it paid off big. Best season I've ever had........faster, more power at the plate, more stolen bases, more everything.

So Baseball season ended in early November (yes we play that late into the cold) and I got right back on P90X and am currently in week 7 day 5 (Legs & Back).

Sorry so long, but this is only maybe my 3rd post so a little background is good.

I'm starting P90X2 as soon as I'm finished with my 2nd 90 days of P90X in about 6 weeks.

I don't have before pics uploaded, but I did take this Christmas day.

TONN, man I love that you didn't have to rely on medication to lower your blood pressure! Doctors need to prescribe exercise as some kind of prerequisite for medication. Could you imagine if there was a medium size gym attached to the pharmacy and you had to do a specific workout before you could get your medication?!

Of course that's just fantasy nonsense because we all know us American are lazy as hell right?!emoticon

My point is that you and thousands of others here prove that being overweight and unhealthy is not a condition or something you just have to live with.

Keep it up!

Rob, (can I call you Rob?)... Great story. I coach and play mens softball and losing the weight and my fitness has made me faster on the bases and running down those outfield flies. No problem with the long post...it's a great story and a great read. You are doing great with the P90X and look awesome. Keep up the good work.
What's your goal with this round of P90X?

Ok, so Sunday is January 1st and the official kick off of P90X<2. Some will be starting on Monday or Tuesday but just as long as you're working out.
Now just let me be clear that this is not just a P90X<2 thread although that's what some of us are doing 1st. It's whatever program you are doing currently or starting January. The main focus of this group is support and motivation.

So, what do you need?
1. Any Beachbody Program - Power 90, 10 minute trainer, P90X, P90X<2, Insanity, Turbo Fire, Chalean Extreme...anything you are doing and just want to plug in somewhere and get that kick in the pants we all need from time to time.

2. Nutrition - This is the biggie. 70%-80% of your success is going to be what you put into your body. Keep track of it and you'll be 40% more successful than those that don’t.
So what should you eat? Let's start with what you should get rid of right away.
ALL PROCESSED FOODS, WHITE SUGARS, WHITE FLOURS, WHITE BREADS, COOKIES, CANDIES, PASTRY, SODA; DIET DRINKS OF ALL KIND, FATTY FOODS, ALL THE JUNK YOU KNOW AND LOVE.

What does that leave?

Lean meats, low fat dairy, whole grain, water (lots), fruits, veggies, almonds, walnuts, pecans, cottage cheese 1% or 2%, and all the good clean foods you can find.

Find your calories range in the nutrition guide or I can help you with that.

3. Equipment - Dumbbells / Select Tech, Power Blocks, Bands, Medicine Balls (or basketballs), Stability Ball(s) Mat, Plyo box of Meter Box, Sturdy Chair, Chinup Bar, Pull Up Bar, Pull Up assist, Push Up Stands, Lifting Gloves or anything else you can think of. This is just a list, you don't need all of it, this is just some ideas.

4. Motivation and Dedication - You have to show up every day and press play. My 11 year old came to my bootcamp class to work out and said, "Dad, you make a lot of noise and sweat a lot". I said I'm here for an hour to workout. I'm giving is all I have for that hour. Sooo, give it 100% and you won't be disappointed.

5. Supplements - What do I need. Well, you don't need any and most are a waste of money. But some are worth it. Whey protein, Casein Protein (slow digesting before bed) Shakeology, Creatine is a big part of my routine. I also like the P90X results and recovery formula. Do some research. A lot of people take a N.O (nitric oxide) pre workout supplement too. I did for a while and need a break so I'm just using good ole fashioned coffee for now. It's good to cycle these things.
A FEW CAUTIONS - THE SUPPLEMENT INDUSTRY IS NOT REGULATED SO THEY CAN SAY AND DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE. BE CAREFUL!!! DO YOUR RESEARCH. READ THE JUNE/JULY 2010 CONSUMER REPORTS ON WHEY POWDERS.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER TO FLUSH OUT THE LIVER AND KIDNEYS. 100-125 OZ OR MORE A DAY.

6. Track Your Progress - Take the fit test, take your measurements, take your before photos and keep track. You look at yourself every day and every day you're making small changes that you won't see. Put that Day 1 up against the Day 30 and you'll see those changes. Get your Workout Sheets and use them. Always try to do better than the last time. 1/2 rep more is progress.

That's it for now...

Thanks man.

The funny thing is that, at the time, my doc didn't even want to give me a chance to lose the extra weight and exercise to lower my blood pressure without meds. He wanted to start me taking one or two blood pressure meds right away. I guess he thought I couldn't do it anyway, so why bother even trying. He was shocked when I lost the weight and my blood pressure became normal.

Great job, by the way. You have excellent muscle definition.
