Why does Shakeology has to be so expensive?
Showing 18 results.
I'm new to the Beach body products and fitness... I would love to try this Shakeology stuff but I can't afford to pay out $119.00 for it. So why can't you cut the cost at least in half for half the amount? Instead of having to buy the whole 30 day container package or 24 individual packages, How about koffer a box of 1 sample the individual flavors to try...for either $39.00 or $59.00 plus shipping. and if I /others like it? it then we can order the full amount or just keep ordering the smaller orders of the varieties? I mean I would love to try all, the but I'm not going pay out $119 for every indivual order of the 24 packets, just to try each flavor. I simplly can't afford it. Thanks

You can ask your coach if they offer samples, many coaches will do that for free. If they don't I can help you out with that. It is expensive, but when you look at the ingredient list and compare it to other meals you buy $4 a shake really isn't bad. I cut out buying lunch and actually save a bunch of money using it. Everyone's situation is different though.

yes, it can seem pricy, but try to not look at the "big" picture. Sure, it is an initial investment, but you literally have 30 days of meals ready to go. For me, every day, it replaces breakfast where it used to be fast food and a multivitamin... My mindset has changed completely! No I can't afford to be off of shakeology. It fills the nutritional void most diets have. Try speaking with your coach. They are usually more than happy to assist in sending you some samples. Also keep in mind, there is a bottom of the bag guarantee... I think you can order the packets split... 12 chocolate, 12 greenberry which would be a good option if you are wanting to try both flavors. Good luck!

It really depends what you need. I find that Shakeology isn't all that expensive because I've replaced other things with it. I used to spend money on digestive enzymes, pro biotics, multivitamins, and then other specific vitamins too- oh and I don't use cold fx anymore either. In addition, it replaces a protein shake. All in all, for me it's a good value. I can understand if maybe your digestive system is perfect and your diet is perfectly balanced not seeing the value in it, but for me it's worth the investment. It sucks to pay, but now that I've had it I can not go without it. It's my everyday breakfast. Yeah, and some coaches will send samples, depends who you have. If you think there's any chance you can squeeze a trial into your budget, order the Shakeology as it is 30 day money back guaranteed and all that. I am not a TBB coach or anything - I just use A LOT of their products.

Okay, here is where I'm calling BS and it is what I keep hearing people say/seeing people type but I'm calling BS.

Shakeology itself is NOT a meal replacement. What do we keep hearing (and it is true) on here? We keep hearing that one of the biggest problems that people face when trying to lose weight is UNDEREATING. Well, the lowest realistic daily calorie intake that I've seen so far is around 1300 calories per day (AT A 500 CALORIE DEFICIT). That equates out to about 275 calories per meal (assuming 5 meals per day as the Insanity nutrition guide suggests). Shakeology is only 160 calories per serving. That still leaves 100 calories. Okay, so you supplement with yogurt, or a little filler or whatever. The fact of the matter is, you are STILL supplementing it to make a full meal and THEREFORE Shakeology is NOT a meal replacement and you are therefore NOT getting a meal for about $4/meal because you are adding other things to the meal as well.

That is not to say that some of your other points are not valid, the definitely are. This is also not to say that Shakeology isn't a good product, I do not doubt that it is incredible. I just grow tired of the false statement that it is a meal replacement; it, in and of itself, is NOT. It does not meet caloric needs (according to the equation in the Insanity guide, I need to take in 650 to 700 calories per meal and that is at a 500 calorie deficit... Shakeology would not be even close to a meal replacement for me).

I will ask my coach and see if she will give me sample's. Thanks to everyone elses replies, I can see by everyone's review, that it's a very healthy shake, but my even looking at it as a "Big Picture" my personal Budget still does not cover the expense of paying out over $119.00 Bucks plus shipping and handling! I know I can get some compairable shakes at my local GNC that only cost between $29-$39 and I bet cha that if I compaired the ingrediets and nutritional values the are close so for me I have to go with Cost first over anything else... Again, Thanks!

Pegstar1,

I have to admit that the cost was what took me a long time to order Shakeology. After trying it and noticing a difference in my energy level and overall health, I understood why it is priced the way it is. I have yet to find something with comparable ingredients. I looked at local nutrition stores and online sources and didn't have any luck. If you find something, I am sure we would all like to know so please post an update.

If cost is an issue, than you may want to consider becoming a coach because then it is only $89.96 and the shipping is free if you do Home Direct. Then you find at least three regular Shakeology customers and your cost is covered.

I will tell you this peg, is that all around I have found nothing that TRULY compares to shakeology. Now I want to make perfectly clear here, I have never tried Shakeology and I do not use it right now. No matter what "logic" people try to use to make it sound like it is totally affordable, for me it isn't. No, it is not a "replacement meal for $4 a meal", not even for someone who needs less calories. Not when you really look at it and do the math. In order to meet the calorie needs of even a lower calorie person you need to add a few things on top of it so now it is not just $4 for the meal at all.

HOWEVER: I have compared ingredients to a quite a few different "green shakes" and other mixes (including some at GNC). I have found some with a quite a few natural ingredients and I have found a quite a few with high nutritional value. However if you look at some of the basic health stats (I mean aside from what percentage of vitamin B273 and B274) they are still not the same. Shakeology has like, 160 calories per serving (if memory serves me). Most of the other green shakes have only like, 40. The others lack the protein content (and I mean by several grams too... not just by a little), they lack calorie content, carbs, etc. They many times do not have the same vitamin content. For the most part, they really are not "comparable".

Now, on the other side of that: I do get EXTREMELY tired of the typical answer to "is there something comparable to Shakeology" question. The stereotypical answer is, "well there just is simply nothing that compares." Horse crap. Are there any products that are AS HIGH of quality? No, not to my knowledge and if we find some I really want to know. HOWEVER, there are products that ARE comparable.

These are what I've found that are "comparable" (but again, they are not as high quality). They will do if you simply cannot afford Shakeology or are in a pinch.

Vitacost: biochem whey and green
body factory: body fuel
puritan's pride: life's green, protein and green, greens and whey
Nature's plus frutein.

Hope this helps!!

The way I c it is, if the stuff didn't do great stuff they would not be able to keep selling it at that price and giving a legit money back garrantee. The great thing about it is u can buy it or not. It is expensive so I will buy it until I can't. Then I will buy it again when I can.

Started using it a week ago. I like it. Curbs my appetite wonderfully. I think it is giving me more energy but since I started p90X 2 weeks ago I've been going to bed earlier to get up at 5 am to work out. Maybe that's giving me more energy...can't be sure yet. Love the taste (chocolate). It's a chocolate shake for breakfast! Yes, I do use it as a meal replacement, and I only add water and ice. Nothing more. Pretty sure it is because of shakeology that I finally broke my weight plateau of several months. But again I can't be sure yet, it's only been a week.

There r a few other positive things I think it is doing...but I don't want to voice them just yet. Overall, it's all good...except the price. Yes, ouch but so far it looks like I am going to be rearranging my finances because I can only think of one thing more important than my health...

Hi Peg,
Due to other issues regarding the new "superfoods formula" (please see the side effects thread started by Wendybird7),I WILL NEVER PUT SHAKEOLOGY IN MY BODY AGAIN!.
So, while searching for alternatives, I found this on a thread AND THERE ARE NO PROPRIETARY INGREDIENTS. I hope you enjoy it! Amazon has the best prices, too!

Here's the recipe:
You could also add Rainbow Superfruit to the shake but it would increase the price a bit, not too much!

"It is very easy to recreate shakeology. A lot of companies have made these shakes even before shakeology even became "a thing". Neutrabolics Athletes Food is a complete meal replacement with all the benefits of shakeology at a higher calorie count at a smaller cost. There are also more ways you can do this with even more benefits than shakeology has and I've even counted up the costs of doing all of these. I'll put a recipe below for an example.

1 Tablespoon of Vibrant Health Green Vibrance
1/2 a scoop of hydrowhey by Optimum nutrition
8 oz simply orange juice

All at 170 calories at $2.31 per serving. Same amount of calories and more nutrients than Shakeology. at about half the cost.
Hope all this information is useful. I can't post links to the above products but a quick google search you can find them"

Enjoy!

I will say this... Shakeology though I have been wary of its cost, does have many ingredients that are very expensive. Look closely at what is in it. It is a VERY good and unique shake. Though that one above is really good too. Its all what youre looking for.

shakeology bb bodybuilding casein protein sticker shock
1/5/13 6:33 PM as a reply to Pegstar1.
Peg,

I am new to the coach family as well and am surprised at the sticker shock. I am still waiting on my kit to try it so I can't really say if it is good or not. And while I can't give you a clear answer to your liking probably I have been in bodybuilding before joining BB and often rather than a meal we would take a couple of scoops of whey protein and mix it up. Some mix it with Casein Protein as well to get a fast and slow digest combo. That being said it can be difficult to swallow from the aftertaste and sometimes the smell. A lot of that though has to do with quality and flavor. I certainly agree though that if the company could develop a sample pack at half the cost so people could try it and maybe if they would be willing give the coaches a deeper discount on shakeology as a full product. Certainly those higher up in the ladder could afford it at cost now, but those of us just starting out find it hard to pay for and would really benefit from it.

Shakeology contains a ton of stuff and is a complete wellness shake. I actually think it offers a great value for the dollar once you understand and research what's in it. I made a video just on the price comparison alone, but I'll be making more to explain this powerful product.

Not only does Shakeology replace meals, but it contributes to your overall wellness, lessening doctor visits, frequency of sickness (I haven't had a virus in 3 years), which in turn reduces downtime at work and with your family. If it works, it's worth it, right?

It never ceases to amaze that people will happily fork over $4.50 for a Starbucks coffee any day of the week or $5 bucks for a fast food meal or $6 for a sugar-loaded Jamba Juice shake and yet balk at $4 Shakeology. The ONLY reason it LOOKS expensive is because you buy in BULK - a whole month up front. If you bought any other groceries, or even your coffee or fast food for a month up front, it would look expensive too.

Here's my video if it helps at all:

They do offer a sample pack for $19.95. It contains a packet of each of 4 flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, greenberry. But that's actually $1 more per shake.

At first I balked at the price. $5 a serving seemed excessive (I include tax & shipping). Until I realized I was spending on average $9/day for lunch. Since starting shakeology I have decided to clean up my eating habits by cooking more at home and bringing my own lunch & snacks. Plus, even though I am cooking more at home, my grocery bill has not dramatically increased because I have cut out a lot of crap. More whole foods, and fewer processed foods. I'm just starting on my second bag of chocolate and am looking forward to vanilla next month.
