I started insanity 1/9/2012 weighting 198 lbs and it started working right off the bat and i was really liking the results (by 2 and half weeks i had lost 4 pounds of just straight fat). now today I started week 4 and i feel like im not really going any where. ya my cardio endurance has gone up considerably but my body has not changed much. i have been doing my best to follow the recommended calorie intake but its kind of hard when eating dorm food. what can i do???

3rdwood! Sounds like to me that you hit a plateau. It can happen. The nice thing is that if you are week 4 then Insanity is about to hit it's second phase were the workouts change and that should help break that plateau. The second month is definitely an increase in strength, endurance, and change. If you are in or close to your recovery week make sure you take it. The big part of overcoming plateaus is to change your routine which is why there are phases in all the Beachbody workouts.
