Sorry Martin! Been trying to post all day but it has been a whirlwind of a day. I had a very important job interview this morning. Was studying all evening last night so I didnt get a workout in. But the interview went very well! I am 99.9% sure I got the job!!! They are just checking a few things with human resources and if everything works out I will be switching roles effective Monday. Very excited!

Only worked 2 days this week. Hubby is having knee surgery tomorrow. So it is going to be an interesting next few weeks/months.

I am definitely feeling that I need to do some serious workouts here. Having a hard time getting motivated....so I came here to catch up and get my butt kicked into high gear! I really do appreciate having the motivation and support from this board. Im gonig to pull out Asylum Speed and Agility as soon as Im done here.

To tell you a bit about the trip...it was amazing. Like I said I definitely indulged, now im ready to work hard to make up for it. We did a lot of relaxing on the beach and at the pool. But we werent completely sedentary. I did a lot of snorkelling and even tried out kayaking. Have to say, I loved the kayak! If I had a major body of water in my area I would definitely consider taking it up. Its a great core workout too! But on top of all of that we did something crazy and fun....sky diving!! I still cant believe I went through with it, but I would totally do it again in a heart beat. It was a lot more safe than I had imagined. And so exhilerating!! It was a tandum jump with an instructor. I free fell for 45 seconds. After the shoot was pulled I got to control us on the way down, such a neat experience! Those are just the few highlights on the trip though.

Martin - Glad to see that you are still after it! And great news on being off the crutches!! You are going to be back to full force in no time at all. I know its frustrating taking it slow, but you have the right idea...you dont want to risk reinjury. I think its also great that you are setting goals for yourself (tough mudder...other runs). You have also found soemthing that is working for you...biking. Biking and swimming would be great rehabilitators for you in your recovery. Biking was my saving grace after I had ankle surgery. I cant wait for the snow to melt so I can start biking to work again. I know what you mean about the competitiveness....thats usually what keeps me going too. The fact i have been slacking for the past 2 weeks just gets under my skin. Once I get back to the routine though it will be better and I will have more confidence. Oh and great pics by the way! You can definitely see the difference, you are doing great!!

Bob -You and Martin certainly give each other a run for your money!! You are a great motivation as well. With everything you have going on you seem to always still find time to get your workouts in. It gives me no excuses. Great work!

Steve - Dont be too hard on yourself. Bob is right, you keep coming back and that there is determination. I think a while back Martin hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that maybe you are working beyond your fitness level right now. Its great that you are determined and wnat to push yourself, but sometimes that does more damage than good...case in point is the injuries. Find the level that you are at, conquer it, then push yourself to the next level. You will get there, just keep checking in and we will keep you accoutable.

Geez....we have really dropped a lot of people since I have been gone, what did you guys do? emoticon Hopefuly they find time to check in soon and are still staying acountable to themselves!

Sorry for the long post but Martin was harassing me to catch up. Asylum here I come!!

So are you planning on doing another week of Phase II now that you are getting after it? Doing Phase III for a few, then dropping back to Phase II? What's your thoughts?

-Martin

I'm still sticking to my original plan and going to jump in to Phase III next week. On that note, does anyone know where you can access the workout sheets for Phase III? I have not been able to find them, but I may have to search a few of the coaches websites to see what they have.

Today was Yoga for me. Felt really good since I have been destroying myself this week.

What do you think happened? You left and they didn't want to hang out with a couple of handicapped guys and a madman. You'll have to figure out who is who. emoticon

Your vacation sounds awesome, but not sure I'd jump out of a plane. Glad you didn't go *splat*. I'm jealous you get to do Asylum. It would probably kill me now.

I was really surprised when I woke up this morning, because I was decently sore in the shoulders. I did loosen up pretty quickly though.

Yoga is out until I get doc approval, so it was peddling today. 40mins worth. I really thought it wouldn't be as boring once the bike was parked in front of the tv, but it wasn't.

I checked out the Y near my house and think it might be less boring to pedal there. I hope. Might have to give it a shot next week. I honestly don't know what is worse...not being able to do anything, or only being able to do dreadfully boring, half-assed cardio. I went as hard as my knee would allow me and could only get my HR up to 110bpm. I miss running, and it's been an extremely mild winter down this way. Shoot, it was sunny and 74* today.

We'll see how well I can do Leg & Back tomorrow. Kenpo hasn't been a workout in a long time and the twisting stress on the knees for the kicks are probably a bad idea, so I need to come up with something for Saturday. I think I might do Just Arms.

Everybody focus healing energy on my knee. This thing needs to heal up before I go nuts. emoticon

I'm tired! Today was a long day. Hate to admit it but no workout. Hubby had knee surgery today (ACL repair). So spent the majority of the day at the hospital. The few 2-3 short hours I wasn't at the hospital I was busy getting everything organized for him at home and doing last minute errands. Excuses I know...sorry.

Yesterday did Speed and Agility. I was frustrated with how much my cardio dropped in thsoe 2 weeks. It was a frustrating workout. Then my ankle started acting up (bad ankle which I had surgery on last June). Anyways I got the workout down, only way to go from here is up! Tomorrow will do Day 2 of Asylum...i think it's strength. Determined to catch up here so I will!!

Hubby is pretty sore from the surgery, imagine tomorrow will only increase the pain. Will have to sneak in this workout in an area of the house he isn't in. I know he feels down for not being able to do anthing for a while now so trying not to rub it in or anything...can be trying for me and sometimes discouraging, but the important thing is we both try to be as healthy as we can and do the best that we can do.

Anyways enough of that lol.. Martin good job today, Bob you too!

Check in tomorrow

Jess

PS: I GOT THE JOB!!! Very excited!! All that extra studying to freshen up helped emoticon. Begin my new dutie in 1 week.

I think my favorite part of these threads is when someone posts crap like this only to get us to change our coaches so they can make some money off of us. This one I think is my favorite because of the teenage slang. Great post Mike.

Today was Legs and Back for me again with some ARX from the original P90X. This workout just destorys my legs with the incorporation of the weights. I wish that P90X2 had some leg workouts with weights similar to this one, because you can only gain so much muscle jumping around.

Just a quick checkin. I haven't done anything the last few days. After doing the one Insanity workout the next morning my leg was really locked up. I don't want to force it and get hurt. I should have done another workout this morning, but forgot to reset my alarm to get up early enough. I will be getting back into again, it's just taking time to make sure i'm good to go again.

Bob - In response to your thinking I had quit - A few times I had considered it, but to be honest I get all of these posts in my email and I make sure to read each and every one of them. It makes me want to get back into it all the time. Also, after not doing anything for a few days I really start missing doing anything active, whether it's just running, a P90X workout, or even the Insanity stuff now. I have lived a pretty sedentary lifestyle up until I started P90X last year and I have to admit I really like being more active. So I might miss days here and there, I might be slower than everyone else, and not in as good shape, I might not have the diet working for me and I may not have the visible muscles to show off, but I will continue to be active as much as I can.

Oh, I asked you guys what motivates you to keep working out as much as you guys do. Thanks for sharing those answers. I'm not sure if that will help anyone else, but there is definitely something to be taken from what you had to say.

After sitting through 6 hrs of CPR/1st Aid, donating blood, then driving home through severe storms, I'm not doing anything.

Well, I can't do anything. No heavy exercise after donating blood. So, tomorrow I will do Legs/Back/ABR instead of Just Arms.

I'll likely do some stretches.

Cardio Core and Balance today from Insanity. Was a smart choice and happy I made it. Ankle was acting up still this morning, this workout was just what I needed. Feel refreshed and more motivated to get back to it now. Didn't bother the ankle either. Tomorrow I'm starting Day 1 of the Insanity/Asylum hybrid emoticon.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Went with some Vertical Plyo again today. That workout is brutal, which is why I like it emoticon Forgot to contact Beachbody about my bands last week, so I went with another type of band with the handles. Didn't work as well, but it was better than nothing.

Legs and Back is interesting now, in that I can only half-ass several of the moves with the 30* bend limit on the knee. The Seibers 80/20 at the end showed me the limit and the Sneaky lunges weren't happening. I wasn't torn up about skipping the sneaky lunges anyways, since it's such a boring move.

I'm trying my best to be patient, but it's getting difficult.

I still had quite a bit of energy after Legs/Back/ABR, so I did 1-0n-1 Just Arms...well, all of it but the bonus round. I'm spent.

Looks like I'm DC bound again for a week or 2, but I can take all my equipment this time. The good part is I'm allowed to up the effort to low impact, so I can get some elliptical work in at the gym instead of plyo. I just feel plyo is still too much at this point.

Somehow Jess snuck a post in that I missed. Glad your hubby is finally getting fixed up. He'll be back to trying to keep up with you again in no time. Just try to keep his spirits up without letting him get yours down.

Yesterday time got away from me so I didn't start the Asylum/Insanity hybrid. Good news is today I did. Actually did more than required.

A friend of ours (who also rents our basement) finally went to the dr. for a check up. He is obese and needed a wakeup call. His blood pressure was 205/105 or something ridiculous and he is border line diabetes. I'm not sure if he is grasping how serious this is. So he's committing to change and we are going to do out best to help him stick with it. He's going to take the Insanity challenge(which i'm extremely leary about due to his inactivity/size...I think this program is too advanced). But he wants to give it a try. The important thing will be for him to go at HIS pace. Today I did the fit test from Insanity with him. He made it through, but barely. Hoping Day 2 tomorrow will be better for him

So today I did the fit test from Insanity, Pure Cardio, and Strength as my Day 1 of the hybrid. Felt good to get my butt in gear. Need to get back into my routine.

Today was P.A.P. Lower. I have been really curious about this workout because it has had so much hype. After finishing it, I have to say it was a really good workout. It is one where you aren't sure you are going to feel it afterwards, but after getting off the train for work and walking 8 blocks, then up 4 flights of stairs, I can say my legs are killing me. I think this workout could be another 10 minutes long though and cut out some of the weird warmups at the beginning. You will understand after you do it.

I previewed it a while back. I'm not sure how slapping your feet on the ground warms you up.

After my 12hr drive today, I was ready for my workout. Today was Chest and Back. I had the shakes by the time I got through, it was almost 8, and I'd only had coffee since 12...so no ABR. I'm going to hit some elliptical + ABR tomorrow instead of plyo.

Legs is definitely out for a few more weeks. My knee still has dull ache from Saturday which is no good. My right butt cheek was really sore today and it's obvious I'm still biasing weight off the bad leg.

I have GOT to get my diet back on track. I relaxed a good bit when I was running and doing the program, and barely scaled back when I broke myself.

Bob,

How many pull ups do you hammer out before you get gassed? I've plateaued at 10 straight before having to hang for a second, then get the last 5. Did adding the weighted vest force you past that plateau? I actually left my vest at the house this trip.

Same for push ups?

I've started getting a pop in my left shoulder that has been limiting my pushups. Haven't figured out what is causing it yet.

I would say with pullups I am currently around 20. I have learned that once I hang for a second I am pretty worthless afterwards. I was around 12 to 15 before getting the weighted vest, so it definitely helped me get past my plateau.

As for pushups I am around 25 to 30. I think the vest also helped with this. My issue on pushups is that I am not very explosive with them, meaning that I normally am slower than Tony when he does his. Definitely something I am trying to work on. This was apparent today too when I was doing renegade rows in PAP Upper, because I was normally on 8 when everyone else was finishing up their 10. Just need to work on those fast twitch fibers somehow. Could just be in my head, but I'm not sure.

As for PAP Upper, I thought it was a pretty good workout. I decided to also throw in some ARX so I didn't lose the definition I was starting to see in my abs. I think with all the hype about the PAP I have found myself a little bit disappointed with it (secpecially after seeing the videos on youtube of what athletes do). I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult than it is (and I'm even getting after it this time emoticon). I will probably throw in an arms workout on Saturday since this is a strenght exercise, then an explosive one, then another strength, then isometric. I think with the inclusion of the roller angel in the second set of moves here it left it a little weaker than I wanted. This and PAP lower will probably be an exercise that I throw in there sometimes in place of Plyo or another cardio workout. I still think you can't beat the three days of strength training in the original P90X.

Martin and Bob - Look at you two! Your numbers are great! This has challenged me test my pull ups when I get home. Before Insanity I could do 2!! I'm hoping to double that number today <_< lol I will keep you posted! I see a bit of competiveness in this emoticon but I think it's great motivation for the two of you!

Martin - I'm suprised how quickly you are rebounding from your injury(although I know you feel like it's taking forever!). I'm proud of you for sticking with your exercises and doing what you can in the mean time.

Last night I did Max Plyo Circuit. I REALLY didn't want to work out when I got home. Long busy day. But I did it! The moment I walked in the door I put my workout clothes on and got after it... I knew I wouldn't do it later. Felt great to get it done. Love the switch jumps b/c we do them in the asylum with weights...I killed it! Also proud of myself in the push up department. From doing Asylum my numbers are way improved!

Tonight another Insanity Max workout! And my pull up test too emoticon

You know, I like several of the workouts in X2, but I'm just not looking at it as an equal or more effective than the original. I just don't think it's one that I'm going to say "I'm going to do that program over again from scratch" like I have no problem doing with 90x.

I made Jess proud...take that Bob! emoticon

Today I went down to the hotel exercise room with the plan to do an hour of elliptical. Newsflash: the elliptical is also incredibly boring, but at least it gets the heartrate as high as you want it to be. Nobody was in there with me, so I did 20 min of elliptical, hopped onto the treadmill for a fast walk for 20, then finished with 20 more of elliptical.

It was SO hard not to go into a jog on the treadmill.

3 more weeks before a follow up X-ray and approval for jogging. I can't wait.
