Okay to do other workouts with insanity?
I started insanity last week and thus far I love love love it! I've seen at least an inch come off my waist which I'm pretty happy about emoticon however I really miss my gym workouts which I stopped when I started the insanity program. I was wondering if running and taking cycle classes a few times a week would effect my ability to push through the workouts? I miss my regular workouts but i don't want to adversely effect my insanity progress either.

Sassy-
I'm doing Insanity right now (isn't it so freakin' awesome????) but I'm also in the middle of training for a tough mudder, so I also have to get my running in. I have done both in the same day. It depends on the level of exertion your putting out. Running is tough for me but I don't have a problem bouncing back from it. I usually give myself an hour break then go into Insanity (on weeknights). I say give it a shot. Your body will let you know if it is too much.

I'm sending you a buddy request emoticon

Good Morning. emoticon Thanks for the buddy request. I'm wondering if I could do insanity in the evenings and then do cycle or running in the mornings or visa versa. I am hesitant but also determined because I enjoy doing both so much. Doing both couldn't hurt my weight loss but I'm also unsure also of the calories since I'd be burning well over 1000 calories between the two. How do you handle that? Also curious as to if you drink the recommended shakes. I guess i should be asking my coach but I haven't heard anything from her and I need the support.

I'm a coach so if you're interested in switching let me know. I can still give advice if I'm not though, so here's my input on all of these:

Split workouts work great. It gives your body time to recover. I would recommend though doing your harder workout last. There is no way in hell I would be able to run after an Insanity workout but I can do it the other way around without any issues.

For me, it doesn't matter how much I eat for some reason. I have to stay around 1300 to 1500 calories or I'll gain weight, no matter how much I work out. I'll eat more on days I work out extra, but I try to make sure it's all healthy goodness. I would try to add some extra calories in there, maybe another 300. If you're burning out or starving then add more. The great thing about our bodies is they almost always tell us when something is wrong (it's just that we don't always listen).

As for the shakes, I really like them. I don't drink them every day like other people, but when I have them I feel like I have more energy. I particularly like them when either I have a busy day at work and don't feel like throwing a meal together or after a tough workout and I'm not very hungry. I definitely don't want to skip a dinner with this program but I find if I mix the shake in the blender with ice, skim milk, and peanut butter I'm a happy camper. Sometimes I really just don't want to cook diddly squat after my workout.

YES, Tell me how to switch Coaches! I didn't pick, she just kinda showed up as my coach and went MIA from there.

The split workouts sound great. I'm still a little apprehensive about taking cycle classes and doing insanity at the same time. Maybe if I keep my intensity level down? Perhaps Ill have to start by just running. I think Insanity is definitely the harder workout so Ill have to start doing Gym workouts in the AM.

Calories, you hit the nail on the head. I was wondering about that. I am over weight and Elite Nutrition is asking me to eat calories in the 2000 range. I saw that and I just about freaked. If it weren't for the fact I lost an inch Id have thrown that idea out the window. Still uneasy about consuming that many calories but I will do what my body tells me.

Are you using shakeology? I am a bit picky when it comes to shakes. How do they taste? What flavors are worth trying?
