Best Shoes for P90X?
Best Shoes for P90X?

I'm sure that there was a better spot on the message boards for this question but I couldn't figure out where that would be.

What type of shoes do you wear when you are working out to P90X?

With the Power 90 I'm currently going through, I'm wearing running shoes since I have about three new pairs since I bought them on closeout when I was training for my half marathon last year.

They seem to work pretty well but when I stretch my legs my feet don't feel very secure for my ankles. Also, when I'm doing quick feet movements the tread seems to catch on the carpet at times.

Just wondering if there is a better shoe to be wearing other than a running shoe?

Thanks for any input.

I have some good running shoes for 1/2 marathon training, and I had also bought a pair that have a curve at the bottom that is supposed to spring you forward (mid-foot impact). I wear those for p90x beacause I don't like to run in them, and they are really cute, and clean to wear in my house! I think as long as they don't hurt your feet, anything would work.

I originally used your standard cross-training/running shoe.

But now I am 100% a Vibram Five-Fingers guy! They are awesome.

They aren't for everyone and don't offer the same amount of sole (actually, there is barely a sole on these) so Plyo may be a bit tough for some.

But I workout on a foam area, so they don't bother me at all when doing P90X2 Plyocide.

In case you are interested, I have the Bikila LS.

I second the Vibram;s Five Fingers. They take a bit to get used to and your calves and arches will be sore for a few days as the muscles get used to being worked in different way, but the gains you will make in speed, agility and jumping will greatly outweigh any temporary discomfort. I have the Komodo Sport LS. Definitely get the LS versions as they are lace up, not Velcro and stay on the foot better (no Velcro to wear out over time).
