OK so I've fallen off the wagon too many times to count. I've finished numerous rounds of P90X and 1 round of Insanity. I have not stuck with it and have gained it all and then some back. In the last week I've started hiking and am now more prepared than any previous time. This includes diet and is a life change. In 90 days I will turn 55, so come join me on my new improved P90X journey no matter your reason or previous success or failures. I could use the motivation. Starting tomorrow 13 March 2012 will finish this round 10 June 2012.

OK Day 1 in the bag.

C & B kicked my butt slightly, mostly because the excess weight makes push and pull (body weight) exercises more difficult.

Ab Ripper really kicked my butt, no surprise.

Whole grain cereal for breakfast, pinapple snack, chef salad lunch, banana snack, naked wings and celery for dinner.

Day 2 Plyo Flyo, felt good, drenched at the end. My excess weight made me cautious so I would rate my workout moderate.

Cereal, protein bar, chopped salad, banana, pineapple and protein snack. Time to prep dinner.

Went up a local "hill" (Army turn for any elevation from an ant mound to Mount Everest) first thing this morning with my youngest daughter. Five mile hike total with rolling hills and an 800 yard climb and descent right in the middle, grades of both and between 11 and 18%. Two hours and a good workout. My knees and legs are screaming.

Woke up 220 lbs gor a five lb weight loss since Monday, lost another lb on that "hill."

Wow did S & A and Ab Ripper X. Haven't been this sore since the first time I did the X but, that is good motivation. I felt my chest and back and quads and especially my legs. It hit me while cooling down, not only will I turn 55 one day after this round, I will also celebrate ten years since my heart attack, smoking cessation and quadruple bypass surgery. Wow!

I just happened by your thread here and wanted to stop in and wish you all the best in getting back into shape. I just fired off a buddy request if you don't mind. I like to hook up with others my age and exchange some inspiration.

I've used P90x at the beginning of 2011 and shed over 25 lbs. The bad part was I too fell off the wagon and gained back 27. I just finished a round of Lean I started in mid December am down 23 lbs as of today. BF from 40% to 33%. I'm now doing P90x2. I want to get into the best shape of my life before my 52nd birthday.

Congrats on your 10 years past your HA. May you have many more.

Blessings,

Al

Coach,
I accepted your request, thanks for stopping by and please stop by regularly. We all need motivation and encouraging words from time to time. Plus it's great just to share trials and tribulations as well as successes.

Yoga X and Day 4 of week 1 phase 1. Today was in many ways the best yoga I've done. Physically I couldn't do everything but, mentally I knew I was taking a step in the right direction. I felt and enjoyed the stretches and did my best (and you guessed it) and forgot the rest.

I have the highest motivation since round 1 back in November 2007 and since I've set my goals I have better motivation.

Just pushing play.

Kenpo-X normally the easiest for me but, today I felt it especially in the beginning. As I finished though I realized I hadn't done a workout at the beginning of the day in a long time, and you know what, I'm done. I may go hiking today but, I will not spend my day worrying about getting my workout in before it is interrupted by something else. What a great feeling.

Hey, thank you Rod. That's very true, keeping connected is an absolute necessity. I have several places I go for inspiration and motivation. Ups and downs are part of the game but I've found the downs to be less frequent when I'm connected.

If there is anything I can do to help, please give me a shout.

Keep up the great work, and Keep pressing play.

Take care,

Al

Day 1 Week 2 - Down 7 lbs from 225 to 218 after a week, I'm ok with that except came close to bonking during Ab Ripper tonight. Think I will up my carbs tomorrow as Plyo will definitely set me on my butt if I'm not eating enough.

As I've said, I realize that diet is as important as exercise and I am working to get the right combo of food in my body.

C & B Man I smashed it compared to week one, did more on my 2nd set than first on 90% of the exercises. As I indicated AR smashed me.

Week 2 Plyo done. Lunch got delayed by work requirements about three hours and my energy was great. Plyo was over before I knew it but, I'm tired now.

Week 2 Day 3 S & A and Ab Ripper and I feel good. after 13 lbs total and 8 since my "official" weigh-in I'm the same weight as the day before. Don't know if my metabolism is now caught up or it is a temporary stall. We shall see.

My wife says I'm crazy, maybe so. 4 hours hiking this morning at least 6.3 mile but, seemed further. Actually free climbed about 80 feet, first time doing that silliness. I was so sore I was going to skip my P90X but, I pushed play. L & B and Ab Ripper.

Pushing through life's challenges makes you stronger.

Today is THE day!

Wow yesterday's C&B and Ab Ripper wore me out. Still feeling a little weak during Plyo but it was my best plyo yhis time, so maybe just feeling the extra effort.

Feeling good down to 213 with my goal of 170.

Today is THE day!

Getting to be time to add some carbs methinks. Just feeling week during the workouts. Definitely drinking my water averaging 8 - 8 ounce glasses a day plus whatever else I drink. Today in Yoga X felt like I was going to vomit, never felt that before. Two more days in week 3.
