Hi All,

Starting P90X for the first time with my wife on March 19th. Looking for a good group of people who are starting the same date.

Not sure what to expect so any pointers people have would be appreciated.

Thanks and BRING IT!

Not starting on the 19th, currently in the midst of P90X2, but would love to connect with you and provide some feedback/support. I've done P90X several times, love the program.

Hey Jimbo and zack,

I appear to be on-track to start on the 19th as well. I just received my shiny new dumbbells yesterday and am going to complete my Fit Test tonight.

Have you guys already completed your fit test? how did it go?

I'll be starting on the 18th or 19th myself as well.
Will take the fit test, measurements, and pictures today or tomorrow and be ready to rock and roll with you guys!

I may be moving out of town (4 hour drive each way) and changing jobs soon so unfortunately that may interfere, I hope not though..... Not that I won't have the dedication or motivation to continue, but may be too much if I have to move and lose a couple weeks.

Hey everyone!
I completed the fit test and I'm psyched up to start. Has everyone planned out their diets?
I'm going to adhere to a 1900 calorie diet like the one from the team ripped website. Hope everyone has a great workout.

Yep, I am in - starting everything tomorrow. My fitness level is pretty low and barely passed the pre-tests, but I don't want to make any other excuses: p90x tomorrow!

Good luck us.

Hi all! I started today and I am looking for a nice group! I made it through chest and back alright, though I have to do assisted pullups for now. Ab X was a wake up call to the gut! Really really excited and raring to go! The hardest part of my day so far is ingesting the ungodly amount of food that is required of me! I have eaten about half! Hope you all have a great start tomorrow!!!

I am starting P90X tomorrow as well. Best of luck to all of us. I am also looking for a new beach body coach. The coach I have is no longer active I cant really blame them since I got the membership a few years ago. Work got in the way and I was not able to complete it this time I know I will be able to complete the program!

I'll be starting on the 19th as well! I've completed P90 a couple of times in the past, but this will be my first time doing the X.

Nice to find a group of folks to suffer with!(In a good way, of course) ;)

Great job Epike05! Don't feel bad about not getting enough calories as I'm sure it's okay to trim calories. There's some great articles on the Team Ripped website if you are interested. I've learned a lot from that website. According to the P90X nutrition guide I'm supposed to be eating about 2800 calories but I'm going to stick to a 1900 calorie diet to trim fat. I'm sticking to the 50/30/20 protein, carb, fat ratio though. I think the calories are a bit high for some people's goals.

Finished my fit test today, got pictures, and all my measurements! I'm ready to start tomorrow, how about all of you??? emoticon

I'm glad I found this thread. I didn't want to join one of those that have been going on for like 3-6 months and already have hundred of responses. It will be nice to have a group that's all on the same track for support and help.

I completed 9 weeks of p90X last year(actually 10 weeks but only gave 40-60% the first week for a warm up and didn't count it), but wasn't able to finish the whole program unfortunately. I was pretty P.O'd! It stinks to work that hard for something just to have it taken away from you. My last job changed my work shift all around and was only getting 3-6 hours of sleep and just became too much. I had great gains and improvements though. I fell back into the fast food, eating horribly, and no exercise habit again. I'm actually now in worse shape than when I started P90X last year. emoticon I'm ready now! Threw out all the junk food, and stocked up on good food.

The first three weeks were the hardest for me! After that it came habitual as I knew what to expect. I think the hardest part for me what just not knowing what to expect and when that thing was finally going to end. Be ready for ab ripper X at the end of every other workout, and Yoga Belly on day 4 (abs 3 days in a row), but no abs for 2 days after that!

If I could give advice to the first timers, that I wish I would have had the first time I did P90X, or people who aren't currently on a workout program, it would be as follows.

-Print out the workout sheets and write down how many moves and what weight you used. it really helps to track your progress and no guessing on weight because you'll know what you did the week before.

-Take it easy the first week, don't go all out 100% as you might sustain an injury and you'll likely bo so sore and hurting you may not want to continue or may want take extended days off. It's easy to overdo it and keep pushing, especially for a guy and their pride. The workouts that leave me the sorest are biceps, traps, and legs. The first week, I only went about 40%-60% and held back a lot. It still kicked my butt, was still VERY sore, but I didn't overdo it and got after it big time week 2 and on.

-Preview the workouts at least a day in advance if you can. This will help you know what to expect and for me knowing it is half the battle with no surprises. I didn't do this the first time (I wish I had) and it was killing me to see the Ab ripper X at the end of days 1,3, and 5 with Yoga belly on day 4 (abs 3 days in a row).

-Take your recovery drinks after your high intensity workouts (all except yoga and stretch)
P90X has theirs, I currently just by Accelerade from High health. It is a 4:1 carbs to protein. I used to just mix powdered Gatorade and Protein to acheive the 4:1 ratio.

-Do Yoga X or at least give it your best shot for 3 or 4 weeks. I'm not a yoga guy at all but it seems to go nicely with the program and you feel great and relaxed afterwards. I hear people say they don't like it, it is tough! Well I don't like legs and I hate Plyo and core synegistics, but I suck it up and get and great workout.

-Day 7 is X stretch or a rest day. Do the stretch if you can. It seems to really help and are very loose and relaxed afterwards.

-Stick with eating lean and clean. Just because you workout doesn't mean you'll get the results you want if you’re eating bad, too many calories, carbs, or fat. I hear a lot of people say they'll just workout and get into shape. Well if you don't take in the calories then you don't have to burn them, it's that simple.

-Everybody's body type and metabolisms' are different. Some may make much faster gains than others and get ripped while others may just get kind of toned. Don’t be discouraged, evaluate your body type and expect the results accordingly. Just because you don't really see results in week 2,3 or even 4 don't get discouraged. I didn't really see results until about week 4 or 5. After that the results seemed to come quicker as my metabolism sped up. I am cursed with a VERY slow metabolism and love to eat, not a good combo.

-Just push play every day! When I am done with a workout, I immediately take that DVD out and put in the next days. Just one less excuse to have, just walk in the door after (or before) work, change into your workout clothes, power up and press play. Once you hit play it's that easy and it's on!

Good luck to all, and I am glad we have a nice P90X group all starting at the same time!

Great job on the workout!
That's quite ok on the food. It can be a lot of food at first. Don't stuff yourself or over eat. The more you workout and do the program the more your metabolism will start to speed up and the more you'll need to eat to fuel your body and your gains. Ease into it at first.

Kind of like getting a smoldering fire going. You don't just through huge logs on at first (they'll just smoke and smolder), you start out with kindling and little sticks building that fire bigger and bigger until you are ready to through logs on. Metaphorically speaking the fire is your metabolism and the sticks and logs are your food.

I'm supposed to be at the 2,400 cal. mark myself. Seems kind of high for me as I'm lookng to lean up and lose fat and maybe shed 15lbs. I currently weigh 185 but would like to be about 170 lean. I've been planning mine as well, but I don't really have the time to count every single thing I eat and cook to add up all of the calories, every single day.

I've kind of just been using the portion approach. Is there an easy way to count calories? What tecniques are you using? Maybe like some kind of spreadsheet you can may just type in fairly quickly that has said values and calories for each portion of ea. food? I signed up on this forum because I thought it said there was a place to track your calories in the WOWY gym. All I'm able to do and see is scheduling the workouts.
