Where's my Asylum Ladies??
asylum

Seems like when I look at the Asylum posts, it's predominantly men. Where's the women? I'm on my 2nd week of round 1 - done 2 rounds of Insanity, P90x, P90X2, TurboFire, BBL, CHX, etc. :-)

I'm finding Vertical Plyo to be the most frightening one - and the agility drills are definitely a new thing for me. I love the way every Beachbody workout brings something new and different to the table. I definitely view myself as an athelete now!

I'm halfway through my first round! (although you both have probably already finished). What's it like on the other side?
are you going to take the volume 2 challenge?

I am 44 years old, a mother of 2 girls (age 24 and 18) and a grandmother of 6 (one from my oldest daughter and 5 via marriage). I completed insanity and now I am in week 3 of insanity: asylum. I love it!! Since starting insanity I have dropped from a size 10 to a size 6. Since starting asylum I am staring to see more of my muscles in my arms, stomach and legs. I love it! I just ordered the second set of videos for Asylum I cant wait to start them!

Wow! Nice to meet you! I'm 44 too, and it's wild to think of you as being a grandma! Congratulations! When are you starting vol 2? I've asked for that for Christmas. emoticon I'm starting vol 1 again on Dec 10.

I'm starting again on the 10th! And will do Vol 2 after the first of the year. Are you planning to do vol 2? I think Asylum gets be the best shape of any program - and I've done all of them!

I'm so glad to find other woman who are doing (or have already done) Asylum! I'm just watching the first few videos now to see what I'm in for and to try to get the moves down to start next week. I'm terrified of those in-out ab progressions! I finished Insanity in November and since then I still do it about three times a week along with boot camp workouts at the gym on the other days (which also kick my butt). I can get through workouts like Max Plyo and Interval pretty well, so I'm hoping that means I'm ready to tackle this.

Any advice before starting the program? It seems that there is very little rest built in to these workouts unlike Insanity; how did you find you were able to keep up?

Another Asylum lady here! I've completed two rounds and have gotten amazing results. As much as I'm cursing Shaun during the workouts, I really love this program. I'll be starting Volume 2 soon!

merryberryq, my best advice is to go at your own pace. Instead of trying to keep up with everyone in the workout, I kept track of my own reps and tried to beat them when I did the workout again. This let me know that I was improving.
In the beginning, I definitely needed more breaks during the actual workout than what Shaun gives, and I took them. I just paused the DVD, drank some water, stretched out, then got right back in. I know I'm not in tip-top athletic shape, and those breaks helped.

Thanks for the advice, Sarah! I keep ramping up to start Asylum and then getting sick. This flu season is kicking my butt! I'm hoping after this latest cold I can finally jump in. I got my resistance bands this weekend so I'm ready to go as soon as my body is! I'll come back to this thread once I start and let you all know how it goes.

Hi Ladies!
I'm into my second week of Asylum after doing Insanity and a Pump/Insanity hybrid. I'm wondering what weights you are using for the strength exercises if you aren't using a band?

Thanks!

Hi MelC75! I typically use 12-15 lbs depending on the exercise or how fatigued my muscles are. We're probably not supposed to change weights throughout the routine, but for some moves I find the weights too light or too heavy, so it's more efficient for me to switch them out.

Hey ladies! I'm back, as promised. After a couple more bouts with colds and coughs, I'm finally 100% well and I did my first fit test today. I pleasantly surprised myself by beating Ariel on a few of the exercises! I am really pumped now to start tomorrow with Speed & Agility. The hardest thing I'm finding is keeping track of my feet while moving through the ladder(I had a few false starts with the Agility Heismans)and not losing count. I know I'll get the hang of it!
