Insanity morning or night?
workout insanity
5/1/12 4:22 PM
So right now I've started Week 4 and have some results but expected more. I'm getting up at 4:45am to start working out by 5am. I'm doing my best to follow the meal plan.
Is it better to workout that early on an empty stomach or should I think about changing my workouts to the evening say around 8:30pm?

I have lost about 8-10lbs and I know to not use the scale but it's just too easy to jump on it from time to time.
Should I get better results in month 2? Should I start doing more outside of insanity like an extra workout at the gym?

Thank you for the help!!!

I just started week 5 and I was kinda bummed out because my weight hasn't changed much either. I scaled myself also (I know I'm not supposed to) but I did and I was pissed! My wife came in and said "you know muscle weighs more than fat right"? I said yes, but why hasn't it moved much? I can do the workout in the first month, which was hard at first but then began to get easier, but my weight hasn't moved. Well, a buddy of mine, who's a health buff said this: "fat converts to muscle and feeds your muscles during your workout. Don't go by the scales. As you build muscle your fat will burn off without much difference changed on the scale". It doesn't make sense to me neither, but we gotta keep going my friend, keep pushing and dig deeper. Let's not worry about the scale and focus on our body being better than ever. If at the end of the program you don't see a change, do month 2 again. Month 2 (or week 5) is hard, I just started it this week. I think this month is where you'll see a huge change in weight on the scale, it not easy, which is good. Focus on what you want and avoid that scale, I know I gotta practice what I preach as well.

Oops, I forgot to answer the question, day or night. I say evening personally. In the morning you'll have to eat something at least 30-45 minutes before the workout otherwise your gonna feel dizzy and faint. At least through the day you can take in some fuel for the intense workout that your about to do.

I don't feel dizzy in the am on the empty stomach but I do feel weak so perhaps for next week (week 5) when doing the core cardio & balance i will try the evening to see how I adjust!
If I start doing some extra workouts at the gym during my lunch hour, what sort of workouts should I do? Lifting? Circuit weight training? Spinning class?

I do weights and I'll tell ya, you'll see a difference! My shoulders exploded and my arms are getting there. My back has widened as well. I don't bother with legs because insanity is doing all that using just the weight of my body.

I forgot to mention, I do the weights immediately after the insanity workout....

Thanks again
I'll look to start more weight training next week.

That would mean that I would have to jump in the car right after Insanity to drive to the gym. The gym is not that far away but it would mean that I would probably not get home till after 10pm

Go to muscleandstrength.com I got my workout there and it s awesome! It makes sense when you read the workouts. All the misconceptions on how to workout with weights are crushed here. There's an article in there that explains muscle confusion and gives you a brief on how to confuse, or as the put it, SHOCK your muscles to avoid the plateau affect.
