Les Mills Pump and Chalean Extreme Hybrid - Start 05/12/2012
Showing 20 results.
I am about to finish the 13 week Les Mill Pump Program and am gearing up to start a LMP and Chalean Extreme hybrid that I put together myself. I'd love for people to jump in and join me anywhere along the way!!
Les Mills Pump incorporates low weights and high reps and Chalean Extreme focuses on high weights and low reps...talk about muscle confusion! I believe that this will be an awesome combination! (Cardio/Abs/Yoga days can be substituted to suit your tastes.)
I've attached the Hybrid that I put together...any takers?? Just Push Play and join me!

Alrighty then, I'll post to myself, since I have no takers yet!
This morning was my last workout for my Les Mills Pump first round. I did the last barbell DVD yesterday and did cardio today.
Tomorrow is the 1st day of my Hybrid. It kicks off with a little Pump & Shred...which is an awesome workout...Can't wait to get started!

I'm on Day 15 of LMP and I'm doing TurboFire with it right now. I think I may order ChaLEAN Extreme though. If I do and you're still doing this hybrid I'll join in!

Yea!! Two people! I think combining LMP and Ce will be key for me...I forgot how much I LOVE lifting heavy! But I could never give up the cute boys of Les Mills Pump, so I'll keep "hybriding" it...Welcome aboard my friends!
Bogden - I use Turbo Fire too and that might very well end up being the cardio I do on some days...feel free to post for support and encouragement - to give and receive!
Diana- Bad hair day. Early on Sunday morning, no make-up. What a mess! But until I can get the dogs to snap a photo, it's about the best I can do!

Day 5 of my LMP/CE hybrid! Today I did Burn it off! and Recharge...Short workouts, but they are what you make of them!
Tomorrow, I go back to Les Mills Pump and Shred...
Also, today's my day off, so I might go to a Hot Yoga class after I run errands.

So I'm on week 2 of the Hybrid which involves 2 CE workouts and only 1 LMP. But today was a LMP day: Pump & Shred.
I like mixing these 2 programs up, because I'm now noticing some muscle soreness that I didn't really experience when doing LMP alone. I think the heavier weights are going to prove highly beneficial as they have in the past for me.
Kia Kaha, everyone! Keep pushing play... Coach Lori

LorPet .. I am hoping you can help me out.

First let me say... I LOVE the Chalean Extreme program.

Last spring I completed the program with great results. However, I was a fool and took the fall/winter months off and was feeling or looking as good as I did during the Sprint & Summer months. So, a couple of months ago I jump backed into it and I am seeing results again.

Since I am in the last phase but looking to do another round but would like to add in other stuff.

Here's what I was thinking...

  • Add in the Chalean Extreme Deluxe Set
    OR
  • Add in the Les Mills Pump Series

I am just not sure which path to go down? I love & need the strength training (have psoriatic arthritis). I already take Zumba classes at least 3 days a week. If I miss a class I make it up with kayaking, walking, or biking so I am getting my cardio in without videos.

My goals are to shed only a couple of inches and tighten everything up. Especially in my saddlebag and thigh region.

What are your thoughts?

Has anyone out there thought to incorporate Les Mills Pump routine into the Chalean Extreme schedule?

HI, LiveLife1010!
Thanks for posting and welcome!
I am a big believer in mixing things up and think it's a great idea to change things around in my workout. What better form of Tony's "muscle confusion" could there be than changing things up? So, I'm not a personal trainer, just a BB coach who's been working out for...well probably longer than some on this site have been alive!
Chalean Extreme is great for two reasons (to me) you lift heavy and you lift slow AND the workouts are relatively short - 30-40 minutes each. Les Mills Pump, once you get past the first few weeks, is 50-60 minutes per DVD and you're lifting lighter and more reps. Of course, some of the guys are using 40-50 lbs worth of weight plates and I really don't consider that "light!"
I'm only two weeks into my hybrid, so I don't really have any mind-boggling results to share with you yet, but I can FEEL a difference. My biceps are popping more in the last few days and I believe it's the heavy weights
I'm a LMP fanatic now, but I still get bored, so I say: do whatever is going to maintain your interest! If doing Les MillsPump is going to keep things fresh for you, go for it! The workouts are awesome, the trainers amazing (with some pretty decent eye candy!) and most of the music is fun. The downsides to think about: the cost, the longer length workouts, if you don't have the time. But I say go for it!
If you need a BBCoach, I'd be thrilled to be there for you! Otherwise, I hope to see you back on this thread to tell me what you decided to do! Thanks again, CoachLori

I'm jumping on with you to do a hybrid of both workouts! I was wondering if you bought the cardio dvds that go with Les Mills?

Hi, mobe2035!
Yes, I did buy the cardio dvds for LMP! I like them a LOT. I did the step one again the other day and it's a tough 30 minutes - for me, anyway because I'm NOT a cardio person. I really prefer weights to cardio, but what are you gonna do?
But I L-O-V-E love LMP so the cardio dvds are great for me. Plus I like the way they trade off teaching segments so that I don't get bored with the same instructor throughout...
Glad to finally have a "taker" for my hybrid. If there's anything that you'd change about it, just let me know. And feel free to experiment with your cardio/abs/yoga days!
Lori

thanks for posting the hybrid schedule. I've been doing Chalene X for almost 2 yrs. now. I have mixed it up with P90, and turbo fire but I'm planning on getting the LMP as soon as my last round of CLX is over. I too love weights more than cardio but I need something different to mix it up. I hate giving up the weights so I was looking for some kind of hybrid program to incorporate the two. Would love to hear how the hybrid is working for you and if you are still maintaining your strength with the two. I'm 56 and the only thing i"m a bit concerned about is loosing the muscles I've gained with chalene.

Welcome! I know I haven't been posting much, but I haven't had too many people check out this Thread!
I'm finishing up the hybrid this week and it was pretty cool! I liked seeing the way CLX changed the way I do LMP. Lifting heavier for shorter periods really helped me lift lighter for longer. For me, I think mixing up the high and low weights is crucial, but everyone is different!
I turned 50 this year, so I know what you mean about not wanting to lose muscle strength. Maybe do CLX 2 x per week and LMP only once. I have it alternating, but that was really just for my own variety. Personally, I like LMP more than CLX - and I love Chalene.

thanks for the info. I think I'm just getting in a bit of a rut with CLX and need something completely different. I agree, mixing it up is crucial. Glad to hear that you like LMP, I like Chalene a lot too. I just ordered Rev Abs, so maybe I can incorporate that with LMP. might be a good mix of the three. thanks again!

Hi Lori... would you mind emailing me (in email text) your hybrid schedule? I love the idea of that! But my version of word is so old that it is incompatible with the file :-(.
