This is an incredible group of people where support and motivation is 2nd to none. I guarantee if you start posting with us, you will want to work out and you will be here every day. It's a crazy bunch, but lots of experience in this group, and we love new people. We're here to help and push you. Don't get intimidated by the size of this thread. It only shows the commitment of the leader (yours truly) and an amazing group of people, many of whom have been here from the beginning.

If you're new, read this first page for some great tips, then go to the last page and start posting with us. Me personally I've done P90X, P90X+, P90X2, Insanity, Asylum and TurboFire. But it's not about me, it's about you and the team of people here and how we all help each other get through. No matter what program you're doing we can help you.

PLEASE READ!!

GOALS
Why are you doing this? Is it to loss 5 to 10 pounds, is it to impress someone, or is it to change your life? This is a life changing program and it is totally worth it and everything worthwhile is worth working for. To make sure that you get these life changes you should read through the Fitness and Nutrition guides to help you understand the steps necessary. Whatever your goals are now, I urge you to consider this a lifetime change, not just a 90 day challenge. Make fitness part of your life and you will forever be thankful and you will be a better partner, parent, person and be around for the ones you love. Make your GOALS SMART:

S = Specific "I want to lose weight," is not very specific. How about: "I am going to lose 15 pounds or 2 pants or dress sizes."

M = Measurable Anything that you can measure.

A = Attainable Is it possible to attain your goal? Don't go overboard, but don't go too easy either.

R = Realistic Related to Attainable, ha to be something you can do. Are you looking to lift a cretain weight, run a faster mile or just not get out of breath tying your shoes.

T = Time Limited Give yourself a deadline. In fact this has already been done for you by the folks that created P90X. It is 90 DAYS!!!!

Nutrition
If you want great results, then consider nutrition half of the battle. Nutrition plays a major role in how we reach our goals. Read the nutrition guide and follow the plan. You can prepare week by week or whole month at a time.

Shakeology®, the healthiest meal of the day. Want a simple way to transform your health? All it takes is one glass of Shakeology® a day. This ultra-premium nutritional health shake contains the world's most powerful superfoods. It's the perfect combination of antioxidants, phytonutrients, enzymes, prebiotics, protein and many rare ingredients – including adaptogens, camu-camu, and sacha inchi – giving you the essential nutrients you can't get from an ordinary diet. Replace one meal a day with Chocolate, Tropical Strawberry or Greenberry Shakeology to increase your energy, reduce cravings, lose weight, improve digestion and regularity, and transform your health.* and it's just 150 calories..

Motivation
Nothing is more important than motivation. Times will get tough and there are going to be days that you feel like you cannot get up or you feel too tired at night to workout. This is where your coach and these boards help out. By joining this thread you will find like minded people that will push you and look for help from you to be pushed. This is a 90 day program and it helps to have not just your coach in your corner but a whole team ready to cheer you on and waiting for you to cheer them on.

Also Track your accomplishments:
• Take your measurements
• Take your before and after pictures
• Use the Worksheets

I can't stress this part enough. It REALLY helps to see your progress! Get those measurements and pictures. You don’t have to share your pictures but the motivation that it provides to others is invaluable as you will see when others post their pictures. Take a look at these videos to help you get your photos and measurements right.

How to take your measurements

Workouts
WARNING: I know the first week of any program is TOUGH!! Fight your way through, do your best and things will get easier and better with time. Do your best and do what you can do, that's all you can ask for. As Tony says, "Do your best and forget the rest".

Pre-Workout
All the workouts are intense! You need the right fuel to “Bring It!” and a pre-workout meal about an hour before is important. But be warned if you workout too close to the pre-workout meal you may lose it.

If you workout first thing in the morning, you can skip the meal but you may want to include a 1/3 of your recovery drink in to your water to make sure that you have enough energy to get through your workouts or 1/2 a banana or try the Energy and Endurance for that extra push.

Post Workout:
One of the most important parts of any exercise routine is a recovery drink. I cannot stress how important this is. By adding a recovery drink immediately after your workout you will significantly decrease the amount of soreness you will experience while recovering from your workouts. Plus it replaces vital nutrients that you burned during your workout and prevents muscle damage. The P90X Recovery Drink is a very good product and I highly recommend it. Aside from the proper 4:1 Carbsemoticonrotein ratio, it has Creatine and L-Glutamine which both help your muscles replenish and rebuild.

Equipment:
For P90X all you really need are some bands. I suggest a pullup bar and dumbells, but you can do it without them. Insanity requires no equipment. If you have questions ask away.

Lastly post your Accountability Daily. The message boards are a great way to meet others that are going through what you are going through and it helps stay accountable and motivated! Everyone comes from different backgrounds and will be able to share tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well. The boards helped me tremendously through my first round of P90X and I can tell you if we can get a group to stick through this together, we will all be better for it.

I look forward to getting to know you. I’ve met many great people in my time here and look forward to meeting more.

Morning Sheltie, glad to have you and the dogs with us.

Quick tip for new people - Week 1 will be the toughest. Just do YOUR best, don't worry what the people on the disc are doing, they all have 6-pack abs and 6% body fat and they need breaks. So take breaks when you need to (and you will), modify any moves you have to and just keep pushing play, that is what will bring you success.

Mike is back! Looking forward to kicking it back into gear next Monday!! Thanks for setting up this new thread Coach Larry and for going along on the ride with us again and with all the newbies.

I actually may do the CCB workouts a few times this week just because I can't stand not doing anything. I know rest is important, but I don't feel like the CCB will kill me. emoticon

And welcome to all new board members. Catch ya later!

Mike

So awesome to be done with Round 1, but so psyched to start Round 2!
Planning on starting up again next Monday. Going to fill this week with Max Recovery & CCB along w/ M,W,F Cardio Abs. I need to do something to make me feel like I'm working and not losing all my effort!
The hubs 'might' start Round 2 with me. He finally understands that weight lifting is not going to rid him of his love handles emoticon I hope he does start. Just the couple workouts that he did with me I seemed to push myself so much harder.

Have a good one everybody! Will be here waiting on that GREY T SHIRT emoticon

mike I think CC&B is a good filler. Your body needs some rest, but that doesn't mean do nothing, just not the high impact this program is going to bring you when you start again.

Jill good plan and I hope you get the hubby on board with you, that would be exciting.

MelindaGlad to have you, can't wait for you all to start again

Have a great night all, wee you tomorrow

I just recently finished my first round of the Insanity, and quickly started the second round. In fact, I started the second round yesterday with the Fit Test, so today I am on day two. It IS a tough workout, but I feel confidant that by the time I finish, I will look great. I hope to have full support from this website, considering I do the workout alone at home. Only my parents tell me to keep going, and I don't think that that is enough. Thanks for making a blog on this subject, so people like me can get the motivation that they need to keep "going for the gold." And I would also like to thank Beach Body for creating such a great and powerful workout that challenges me to beat the coach and succeed with my goals.

Hi allemoticon I was catching up on the other thread and seen the new thread posted (thanks coach Larry) and decided I'd go ahead and pop on over. I took the last day of insanity and sunday off to get a little break before I started Asylum yesterday. I was very pleased with my Insanity results and hope it continues through this round of asylum. I remember now why I didnt finish my first round of asylum. Because its so darn frustrating!! I really really like it but it takes alot of mental and physical strength to do it. I dont feel like im getting quit as good a workout as with insanity, do to me standing around half the time not knowing how to do the movesemoticon I really really hope I start to get the hang of it this time through. I want to finish this thing so bad. Ill give it my best and hopefully at the end of the round ill be like i am with insanity and know the whole workout with out looking. Any who today is speed and agility for me and this is deff the most confusing one. Heres to praying I get a good workout in. Glad to see everyone staying strong and im so excited about the new thread.

britt - thanks for coming over and helping to get this one going. I've never done Asylim, sounds rough. But any disc where I think the moves are hard, I'll watch a time or two, slo mo through the move to try to get it, then rewind and go with the disc. Not sure if that will help, but you know if you stick with this group we'll encourage you through.

Resolve - Glad to see you getting back into action. Take your time and we'll be here.

Accountability Monster Jam Day 43 Chest Back and Balance - OK, so it's been about 9 days since I did Day 42, but whenever I workout, I just do the next day on the schedule. And, I'm definitely not 100% yet. The brusied chest that I thought passed becaause I didn't feel it any more is there on every push up. This was a tough onw to com eback to as this disc has a lot of pushups on med balls and the plyo ball, and there was some pain. THe first pullups tweaked my shoulder, although it actually felt better after a couple as if they straightened that out. Near the end is a move called double-wide pushups which is wide pushups on med balls. I knew that was going to be too much so I ended the disc there with 4 moves left. Still a great workout and feels good to be back, even if not quite full speed.

Nice work Larry. At least you know your limits at this point. Hope the pain subsides soon so you can go full force!

Softball went ok last night. We aren't very good but it is just good to be out there with friends and getting a little bit of exercise in the nice weather. My sciatic is still really bothering me. I stretch and stretch it and my hammy but just cannot get it stretched out to where there is no pain. Frustrating but I will keep on keeping on.

I gave my Insanity DVD's to a buddy of mine who ran the marathon with me. He is interested and wanted to "test" it out. I am anxious to hear what he thinks. I told him Shaun T was waiting for him!!!!

Mike - I know the feeling. I played in a 30 and over Hardball league for years before my knees couldn't take it. I play softaball now in a league that's not as cumpetitive and my team is not very good, but it's always nice to be out there on the field with friends and fueling the fire of friendly competition. I'm anxious what your friend has to say as well.

Hey everyone. I finally made it over here. It's looking good! Thank you everyone for the condolences for my brother. We are planning a memorial service in a few months. Me, my parents, my sister, and my brother's kids all live in different states, so we have to coordinate and get us all together.

Coach Larry, you are on fire with the info and encouragement. I have fallen off the wagon since my brother passed on Sunday. But I am determined to get back in it. Knowing you guys are here motivates me! Thanks!

Thought I'd share a little recipe here for those of you so inclined to prepare your own goodies:

TURKEY CHILI
I don't use the olive oil in the recipe, i just used the olive oil non-stick spray.
I divide this one up depending on what I want to stay in between and freeze it. Its so good and will keep frozen for a while.

Makes 6 Servings

34 oz Extra Lean Ground Turkey
12 oz Black Beans (drained and rinsed)
12 oz Dark Red Kidney Beans (drained and rinsed)
12 oz Canned Diced Tomatoes (in juice not puree)

1 Tbsp Olive oil for saute
12 oz Green Bell Pepper, diced (remove seeds and stem)
6 oz Red Bell Pepper, diced (remove seeds and stem)
6 oz Yellow Onion, diced

2 Tbsp Chili Powder
1 Tbsp Paprika
1 Tbsp Cumin
Salt and Pepper
2 Jalapeno peppers chopped (remove seeds and stems)
1 Bunch Cilantro, chopped lightly

Method:
1. Dice Onion and peppers and put them in a pan with the olive oil, sautee on med/low till soft (about 15 minutes)
2. While that is cooking, in large Pot add Tomatoes and Beans and bring up to a simmer.
3. When peppers and onions are coked add them in with beans and tomatoes.
4. Chop Jalapeno and put in the same pot.
5. Sautee ground turkey in the same pan you cooked the onions and peppers in (DO NOT wash it first). Add spices to turkey when almost cooked. Salt and pepper also.
6. Add cooked turkey to pot with other stuff.
7. Chop up cilantro lightly and put into pot.
8. Simmer for a few minutes and then serve or break up into 6 servings and chill.

Per Portion Stats
Protein grams- 28g
Carbs - 20 g
Fat grams- 13g
Calories- about 380

The Scramble

INGREDIENTS

1 pack organic ground turkey breast
1 chopped onion
1/2 each chopped yellow and red sweet pepper
1 bag chopped spinach
1/2 cup brown rice, cooked
1 chopped tomato
dash cinnamon, crushed chili flakes
garlic powder (or garlic clove, crushed)
sea salt (just a touch!) and fresh ground black pepper
a spritz of olive oil, or a drizzle

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat a large pan over medium heat. Spritz with EVOO and add onions and peppers. Cook until they begin to soften, and then add ground turkey.
Once turkey is brown, add spinach and tomato. Cook for another minute or two, and add rice.
Add all seasonings and mix well. (And you can interchange the veggies with whatever you want. I like squash, onions, mushrooms, and edamame.)
That's it! Enjoy!
