Started P90X on 5/14/12
5/15/12 10:29 AM
Hello, I started P90X yesterday (5/14/12) and I was hoping to get a group together to help us all along the journey. I have completed Power 90 and lost 30 pounds, but I got tired of the monotony of only having 2 workouts to do. So I decided to do P90X. I hope to get some people to join this thread to hopefully motivate each other as the days go by.

I also started P90X yesterday. This will be my 3rd time around, after just completing P90X2 about 10 days ago (time off for good behavior). I will be happy to join you Kevin!

Welcome Brian. Thanks for tagging along on this journey.

I completed Shoulders and Arms today and Ab Ripper X. What a workout. I really enjoyed it. The only bad part of it is waking up at 4:30 in the morning to do it, but I do enjoy how I feel during the day. I am trying to get the diet thing figured out. Plan on doing some reading today on it. Good luck to everyone.

Shoulders/Arms and ARX also went well this A.M. It is a first class workout. I am sore, but not painfully so. Following the food plan guide is a REALLY good way to lose weight and get healthier. I have always had high cholesterol, and when I followed the food plan and went on Shakeology, the numbers all fell into the midrange. I was astonished, because I thought my cholesterol was just high due to my body makeup.

Tomorrow is Yoga, leave yourself extra time, since it's 1.5 hours. I'll start at 5 a.m.
Keep pushing play,
Brian

I also started on the 14th. Yesterday I did Plyometrics and man that was a great workout. Today I have back and biceps and looking forward to improved health. I have really let myself go recently and need to tighten up. I would be happy to join here with you guys. Take it easy.

Yeah Brian, I was already thinking that 4:00 AM is going to be tough but it is worth it. I was thinking about doing the Yoga in the afternoon but I am afraid that something will come up and I won't get it done. So I will just bite the bullet and get up earlier.

Keep Pushing Play,

Kevin

Well, Yoga X is in the books. One wouldn't think that Yoga would be that tough, but WOW! I always thought I was pretty flexible but not any more. Those positions are killer. I pushed through though and feel real good right now. Not looking forward to Legs and Back tomorrow because pull-ups are not my friend. We will see how it goes. Keep it going everyone, it will only get easier, at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Keep Pushing Play,
Kevin

Welcome 1080tommy and LeFrog! Kevin, I think I am going to shift my start time to 4:15 a.m. It is peaceful, and I get to watch the sun come up.

YogaX is a routine that I found I had to grow into. I've been doing yoga postures since age 10, but nothing like this. The thing that Tony Horton really captured, in my opinion quite accurately, is the meditative aspect of what Yoga brings. The postures help you get to that state.

Once I made the mistake of FORCING my body into the positions, just to get a little "extra". Boy was that dumb. I hurt my back, and could not exercise for a month. The lesson learned was to just let your body go as far as it wants to. Listen to your body. Your head may be telling you one thing, but you must follow what your body tells you. This yields MUCH better results.

My weakest area is balancing on one leg. However, today was a good day, and I was able to do Warrior 3 and Tree for a few seconds before losing it. So I hope this will carry over to tomorrow when Legs and Back happens!

I started on the 14th too. This is my first time going through it. I did the Power 90 as well but also got a little bored with their only being two workouts. I did that awhile ago though, and have not been in the best shape recently. Trying to change that though. I'm 3 days in. Ready to go take on this yoga workout in a few minutes. I can't lie, this P90x thing is kinda kicking my butt so far. But I'm gonna keep pushing play. I'll definitely go on this journey with you friendly people. I could use some support.

Gerry,

Welcome to the group. Glad to see you made the commitment like the rest of us. Good luck with it and just take it one day at a time. Before we know it we will be done and see great results.

Well Legs and Back in the books. Wow my legs feel like rubber now. Didn't have time for the ARX so I plan to do it tonight or tomorrow after Kempo X. The early morning workouts are working out great. I truly enjoy the feeling I have throughout the day after them. Good luck to everyone, keep up the good work. Kempo X tomorrow.

Sounds like you are doing it right! It's been said before, but it bears repeating: it stays difficult for a while, then some things get easier, others get harder, but by week 10, everything gets easier, and by the end of the 90 days, you'll see great results!

I did Legs and Back this morning -- I still struggle with the balance moves, but they definitely improved, as did the pull-up bar work.

BTW, I did the first round last year with bands only, and found that to be a very effective upper body workout. By the time I got the pull-up bar (week 10, I think), I asked the question: "What happened to gravity?" I'll be mixing it up this round, with bands and bar.

Gerry, glad to have you along for the ride!

I had the same time problem Friday morning, did ARX in the afternoon.

Today, just to add to the muscle confusion, I decided to do X2 Core instead of P90X. Form is a little better, balance too, but the last move that starts on one leg holding the medicine ball, squatting down to do a pushup, and then standing back up, all the time on one leg-- I currently am able to do 1 on each leg. My body is spent -- seems like this move should be earlier in the routine.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I had a pretty good weekend. Did Kempo X on Saturday and enjoyed it. I was so sore all weekend long from the legs and back routine. I am feeling much better today. Got my Core done this morning and feel great. Bought a pull-up assist that will help me with my pull-ups so I am excited for Friday's workout. Keep up the good work, hope everyone has a great day.

Keep Pushing Play,

Cardio X is in the books. I feel great. I did most of the workout today along with the DVD. Getting up at 4:30 and working out is getting much easier. I am glad that I chose to work out in the morning and not the evenings. Hope everyone is doing great as well.

Keep pushing play,

Kevin,
Thanks for posting the picture -- based on your screen name I mistakenly thought you were a pool/billiards player...

I like CardioX a lot because it's a shorter routine and moves pretty quick. This morning I did X2 Plyocide, and today it really flowed -- I didn't have to pause the video nearly as much as I used to, so I was done in an hour.

The last 2 mornings I went out on rescue calls (I volunteer with my local Fire Dept.) before exercising -- lifting a fully loaded stretcher is getting easier. I try to reassure the patient by saying, "I'm a big guy trapped in a small body."

Keep smiling (while pushing play),

Brian

Shoulders and arms in the books today. I increased the weight on some of the reps today so I expect to be a little sore today. The workouts are getting a little easier now that I am getting into the swing of them. I actually don't dread getting up in the morning to do them. Hope everyone else is pushing right along also. Keep up the good work.

Keep pushing play,

Brian,

Glad to hear that the workouts are paying dividends in your life. That is great to hear. I myself am finding that I have more energy to get through the day. I am an engineer so most of my job is either sitting at a desk or standing on the manufacturing floor. The extra energy late in the day is a nice change.
