Important Tips
Take a minute to look through these tips they are imperative to your success in whatever program you are doing.

Nutrition
This is the most important part of your journey your workouts are only a small percentage of your total body transformation, without proper nutrition you are waisting your workouts. "You can't out train a bad diet" Beachbody programs come with a nutrition plan before starting your program take a minute to review your plan and get your shopping list and menus together before you start, this will help you remain focused on eating correctly. Just like workouts, if you fail to plan than you plan to fail. It may be hard at first but soon you will begin to learn better eating habits and your nutrition plan will stop being a plan and start being a way of life.

If you have not done so already take a look at upgrading your membership to a club Beachbody member and utilize the VIP and meal plan tools included in your membership to help with your nutrition plan. Also, consider signing up for a MyFitnessPal account or other calorie tracking service to log what you are eating each day to help you stay on track. After becoming a Team Beachbody buddy with me I can send you information that will help you in setting up a MyFitnessPal account as well as my MFP screen name.

Don't forget Shakeology, this is a great way to get a meal or snack in throughout the day that has all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs when doing a Beachbody fitness program.

Track your progress
Where are you now? Where do you want to be? Have Goals!

• Nothing is more important or motivating than to see where you started and how you are progressing along the way! It is so CRUCIAL that you do the following BEFORE you begin:

• Take your Measurements
• Take your before & after pictures
• Take the fit test

Post your fit test results during your introduction so you know where you started when you began your journey.

If you want the best results, if you want to maximize your results, not just in your program's workout, but any fitness program, you MUST track your progress. You simply cannot get to where you want to be, unless you know where you’ve been, and that’s why you need the worksheets. Program worksheets can be found under the get fit menu in the top left side of the Team Beachbody page. Don't forget to utilize the tools that TBB provides. Complete your profile, and track your measurements and weight online.

Pre-Workout

• Your workouts are going to be intense! The right fuel will help your body "Dig Deeper!!!" with the intensity you need! If you eat a pre-workout meal, is very important to wait about an hour before you work out. Eat too soon and you could end up losing the meal instead of bringing the intensity!

• If you workout first thing in the morning like I do you might want to skip eating and take a pre-fuel 15 minutes prior to working out. This can be a fast acting protein drink or a 1/3 to 1/2 serving of the Results and Recovery formula to give you body the fuel it needs to get through the workout.

Post-Workout

Keep in mind the first week is exceptionally rough! Expect to be sore and tired: Do not give up! Your body will adapt quickly and in no time you will start seeing some crazy results. You may want to do a few non-dvd workouts prior to starting just to get your body & mind ready.

• Recovery: After an intense Insanity workout, it is vital to recover the right way. I cannot stress enough how important this is. By adding a recovery drink immediately after your workout, you will significantly decrease the amount of soreness you will experience while your body recovers. Intense exercise will burn off glycogen stores in the muscles which leaves the body without its primary source of energy. The longer you are in this state, the greater the chances your body will panic and may actually breakdown your existing muscle to create more glycogen—the exact opposite of what we are working for! Plus low blood sugar levels in the brain will lead to fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration, depression, etc. The Beachbody Recovery Drink will replenish your muscles with glycogen, you will not only avoid muscle breakdown, but you will promote muscle growth and keep your energy levels up. The Beachbody Recovery Drink is a great product and I highly recommend it.

• Accountability: Post your accountability DAILY on the message boards! This is the key to staying motivated. Here is an interesting statistic I’ve noticed over the past couple of threads I’ve been in. Out of all the people who join the thread and commit to the workouts, less than 20% will complete the full 60 day program! But what I found is, of those of post every day they are 90% likely to complete the program and transform their lives.

The message boards and forums are a great way to meet others that are going through exactly what you are and it helps stay accountable and motivated! Your forum buddies will have tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well. You will be doing the same in no time!

So ready to get started? First step, post your commitment to join the team, and second, add me as a buddy and I'll give you more important information. I look forward to getting to know you and seeing the new you!

nice thread!. I'm on day 6 and the first week is going well. My nutrition isnt perfect, it takes a little time to adjust, but Ive been logging everything I put into my body everyday on myfitnesspal.

Yes, the nutrition is way harder than the actual workouts, but you gotta stay at it and not give up.

Coach,

I'm in!! I started P90X yesterday with Chest & Back. Good news was I made it through without pausing. Bad news is the Ab Ripper X didn't go as well (had to pause twice, and form wasn't where it needed to be). Made it through and definitely feel it. Today Plyo X went well; I didn't have to pause and modifications were minimal. I've done Power 90 twice and Power 90 Master Series, so I'm already in pretty good physical shape. The Master Series was a really good prep for P90X, although there is no dedicated ab routine in the MS. As you can tell from my profile pic, I don't have weight to lose, just looking to get more toned (add a little muscle, not a lot) and get in better shape. I have bad knees, so I don't want to add a substantial amount of weight to my frame. Trying to avoid the inevitable knee surgeries as long as possible!

bbinder082 Thanks for the approval on the thread, hope to see you here each day posting your workout results. I am glad you are getting a handle on the nutrition plan. I also use myfitnesspal so if you would like feel free to send me a buddy request there as well and you will be able to see my meals each day. My screen name is bumpusburn.

KMaurer Welcome to the thread I am glad to have you here! Sounds like you have had some great results with the Power90 products congrats. Getting through Chest and Back and Plyo the way you have is awesome, most people think those are the two hardest workouts in the program so way to go!!!!

Lets work to make this group a success! If you have any friends and family or other Team Beachbody buddies that you know of using Beachbody products or may be interested in them send them our way!!

If we keep this thread active it will stay on the first few pages and more and more people will join us.

KPP and great work both of you.

Accountability Today was Kenpo X and the first time I have done Kenpo in about 6 weeks since it is not on this mass building hybrid I am doing. It felt great and I forgot just how fast it went by because it is fun and keeps on moving. Tomorrow is Yoga and I think I will be adding the Ten Minute Trainer ab DVD to the mix just for a little extra something. I will be finishing up my day of exercise with some swimming so it should be a good day. Trying to burn some extra calories and get the last 2% of body fat off.

I am going to be posting my pre-P90X measurements when I get home and back to them, feel free to do the same so everyone can see how far you go with your success.

Accountability Day 3 - Shoulders & Arms/Ab Ripper X. Overall, went better than expected (especially shoulders & arms). I'm still really sore in my chest & back from day 1, but after the warm-up things loosened up a lot. Shoulders & Arms is a lot like Sculpt 5-6 in the Master Series. Of course, it felt like I was doing Sculpt 5-6 twice!! Didn't have any unscheduled breaks in Shoulders & Arms, although I did have to decrease my weights a few times & I would pause & rewind the DVD. Ab Ripper X went better than day 1, still not great, but I know it's a tough routine & things will improve over time (had to take a break half way through to recover). Right now feeling great! I'm actually excited for Yoga tomorrow. Diet was a disaster yesterday, went to a wedding and pretty much ate everything in sight. Thankful it didn't affect my workout (usually when I eat like crap I feel it the next day).

Hey Coach Justin, great new thread you have started here! You have an amazing weight loss transformation, and you should be very proud! Thanks for helping others get fit with p90x, and paying it forward.

All, The key to success is not only committing to the program, but committing to your support team. You need to post your accountability everyday. Do you know that the drop out rate is nearly 80% for those who don't rely on their support group to help keep them motivated. Everyone needs accountability and encouragement, so commit and bring it!!!

RE: Starting a new program? ENGAGE with us all 5/29-6/12 P90X, TMT, Insanit

Today is my Day 5 of the TMT program. Loving it and cant believe I actually worked out on a Saturday and Sunday. I am loving the program. Prior to started TMT I have already lost a whole person. At my heaviest I was 362 and now I am 40-50lbs from my goal weight. I bought TMT to lose the extra weight and to start to tone some of the loose areas I have. I am lucky I am 6 feet tall because I carry my weight well but want to loose it none the less. MY biggest issue is accountability. I am hoping with your help I can make it through this and reach my goals and move on to a new program to push myself even more.

Accountability Today was Yoga day which is still one of my favorites, when I finished Yoga I decided to give TMT Abs a go and I was thrilled with how great an ab workout I got in 10 minutes. When I was done with the workouts I went to the pool with the family and got some swimming done. Tomorrow is Stretch X and I am ready to get limber and perhaps go for a 3 to 5 mile run when I am done. Can't wait to BRING IT again tomorrow.

KMaurer Great work on the routine today way to bring it, I am glad you were able to get such a good workout in after yesterday's food. I love that you are looking forward to yoga it is one of my favorites as well. When you hear "Right angle pose" buckle up, it is about to burn!! I think you will love it

Coach Greg Thanks for the support and advice you truly are here to help others and all your advice has been priceless!

CanMilitaryWife Amazing story!!! You must be proud, I know I am proud for you. We will do all we can here to support each other to bring it everyday and stay on track. My wife is also doing TMT and she just finished her second day, I am super proud of her, she has done all three workouts on both days and has been loving the workouts. Look forward to seeing how each of you workouts go and again congrats on the amazing weight loss story.

Accountability Day 4 - Today was Yoga. Overall, went well. Second half hour was tough!! Spent a lot of time staring at the TV trying to figure out how to do some of the poses. I'm looking forward to improving my balance and doing some of the more "advanced" poses. Definitely going out and buying some yoga blocks today. Also helped with my sore back, shoulders, & chest.

UTKyle Nice new screen name...Go VOLS! Way to go on the Yoga, that is a tough one. The first time I did it I went into it thinking how hard is holding a bunch of poses going to be anyways. Man was I NOT ready for what came. If I am remembering correctly you are moving on to legs and back tomorrow. Enjoy that one it is a killer and you will be feeling it.

Accountability I just finished my X Stretch and am feeling a lot better. I did not go on the run I was planning to I just didn't have enough time in the day by the time I finished staining the deck X, weed eating X, lawn mowing X, and pest control X I was pretty sore and wiped out but X stretch was a good reboot. Feeling much better and will be using my rest day tomorrow to go for a nice little run to clear my head and start the work week right!!!!

Hope to hear from the others soon, tell your WOWY buddies about this thread lets make it really take off and change some lives!!!

BRING IT this week!!!!!!

Accountability Day 5 - Today was legs & back/ab ripper X. Overall, went OK. Ab ripper went about the same as Sunday - had to take a break 1/2 way through. Also, used bands for the pull-ups. Still sore from Friday, didn't want to injure myself. Still felt it in my back, so I still got a workout.

Accountability Not a whole lot to report today, it was a rest day, I was going to wake up and run before bible study but felt a weird pain in my hip from the yard work yesterday and didn't want to injure myself. Tomorrow is Shoulders, chest, and tris, going to be adding resistance this time around so I am excited and can't wait to see how it goes

UTKyle Great job on Legs and Back, truth be told, I never look forward to that workout but I know it is needed, I don't want to end up being the guy that is all cut up with stick legs!!! emoticon Good job listening to your body and backing off a little bit. Going a little easier one workout is much better than letting ego take over and injuring yourself and missing several workouts. Enjoy Kenpo tomorrow it is a fun one!!!

Accountability Early morning today needed to get my workout in before my wife got up to do her three TMT workouts. Today was back to resistance training after a week of recovery. I did chest, shoulders, and tris today. I added resistance to all the workouts and was very happy to see the rep numbers go up on all the chest exercises. Most of the shoulder and tri reps went down but that is what is to be expected when upping the weights. By the time I got to the end of the workout I felt like I didn't have anything left in the tank. Tells me that was a good workout. Tomorrow is cardio and abs and I have been chomping at the bit to have another run at that workout after it owned me the last time.

Keep pushing play everyone and have a great workout!!!!!

Justin

Accountability Day 6 - Did Kenpo X today, went pretty well especially considering I'm not the most coordinated person. Reminded me a lot of Power90 with all the jabs & kicks. Excited for stretch tomorrow, definitely could use some stretching for my sore upper body!

Definitely don't give up!! It took me a while to get a hang of nutrition. If you aren't already, use myfitnesspal to log your food intake. It was a real wakeup call for me to see what I was actually eating.
Report Post Report Post
?
UTKyle Way to go after Kenpo, I was right with you the first few times, I am not the most graceful person in the world and was stumbling around a bit for a little while but did get better and started working on higher stronger kicks which really gets the heart rate going and brings the calorie burn to a whole new level. I agree 100% on myfitnesspal, I use it everyday and it really got my nutrition in line. You can buddy me there as well if you would like screen name BumpusBurn. I am feeling you on the soreness after Chest Shoulders and Tris yesterday I am all kind of sore and it made for a challenging cardio day today. Your post workout nutrition within one hour of the workout is key to helping with the soreness. Here are three options that I mix between after workouts.

1. Chocolate Whey Protein made with sweetened almond milk. (makes a good carb to protein ration but be careful of the sugar)
2. Vanilla Whey Protein made with Apple juice. (Same warning as above)
3. Of course the P90X recovery drink.

Each of these will give your body what it needs after a workout. I would suggest trying each one and seeing which one does the best for you.

Accountability Today was cardio day with Abs. I mixed it up a little to get a more intense workout than what was on the schedule. Rather than 45 minute Cardio X and Ab Ripper X I went with 60 minute "Ultimate Cardio Body" by Bob Harper and "Yoga Abs" by Bob Harper as well. When I was done there was not a dry spot on my shirt and I was spent. A great workout but hard when sore from yesterday's workout and the fact that I had to start it at 4:30 this morning. Tomorrow is legs and back and I am looking forward to crushing that one!

Keep up the good work!!!
