This is the follow up thread to both of these:

Tony Horton's workouts,started in late August/September 2011 on to 2012]

June 2011 Starters

We are a group who started a year ago, some of us left, some new ones joined. but overall we want to make this a lifestyle, keep pushing and make sure that every coming day is making us better at dealing with things, performing better.

I think also that for most of us this past year brought us somewhere we never went before, doing a lot of sports and being better at it at 30/40/50 year old than we were at 15 or 20.

Hopefully some MIA peeps from the original group will show up, we could maybe send them a friendly reminder, that helps a lot sometimes to get back on track and to know that a group is waiting on you.

Hope we get to see some of the old peeps! Repasting my X fit test results since X starts in 48 hours for me:

X fit test.

Resting heart rate: 70
Pull ups: 0 unassisted; 11 w/ upper half of foot on chair.
Vertical leap: 10 inches
Push-ups: 29
Toe touch: -2
Wall squat: 1'07''
Bicep curls: 20 @ 25 lbs
In & outs: 42
HRM: 180 -> 151 -> 129 -> 125 -> 124

Felt like I could have done more on in & outs but my heels clunked; surprised I failed at 29 on push-ups.

Wall squat - never done anything like that and it was rough.

Day one on Tuesday.

I'm here still working on P90X 2nd round. Tim love your results from your fit test. Good numbers to start with, very healthy numbers. The wall squat were hard. What I found at first my legs had to come out of them often with the burn I would feeling. This time around with P90X I found that I was in the wall squats with Tony and the guys for the same length as them. It does get better.emoticon
Today I feel great and feel on track with my workout and eating and motivation. I'm planning to sign up for a 5 km run today. Set some goals for myself. Keep moving forward. My 40th is on Sunday so I want to feel alive by my birthday.

The morning after the fit test and I am pretty sure: legs and back is going to be rough. I was sore still from the squat test. Did 10MT Yoga to stretch out this morning but even had a pretty appreciable bump on the scale this AM - no doubt due to retaining some water. That hurt! As you said though, it'll get better.

I watched Chest & Back again and am feeling optimistic about it tomorrow. I feel like I'm really going to be able to bring it in X. I'm glad I took the long way in because I would have hurt myself if I'd gone more direct. I think the pull-ups are such a huge intimidation for me, but then when I look at the workout, they're only a quarter all the moves. I'm also excited to do decline pushups and back flys again.

Glad you're feeling on track! These lulls due to injury or health can be rough but I think half of the time they're made worse by the desire to just get back on track and start working out again. It's become such a big part of our lives and for me at least it's a lot of fun each day. I get so excited when I start a new program because it's all new and challenging and I'm unfamiliar with it, and having that excitement every 90 days or so is a big part of my life now. How is the running working for you in general?

I hope you have a great birthday on Sunday!

One last thought.. I used Cardio 3-4's warm up to do my warm up for the Fit Test (since the guide recommended it). I remember thinking when I first encountered Power 90 that Tony was so crazy and goofy and that the workout was rough. Well, Power Yoga isn't necessarily as tough now as it was, but it's so strange to watch P90 after P90MS - Tony seems so mellow and muted in the original.

Really, really excited for tomorrow. Began my new multivitamin and creatine supplement today as well (I'd cycled off everything for the last 30 days of MS). Ready to bring it tomorrow!

My favorite part of Chest and Back is when it's all done and I'm so happy that I got through it. Tony says "Get out of your head" It funny because while I'm doing the first round of exercises my thoughts are "that's enough you don't have to do the second apart". But I push through it and at the end he says this . It just feels like he's talking to me.

I actually did C&B yesterday and boy, I've neglected my upper body lately!

Been doing a lot of martial arts/yoga/running/abs but it's been a good two month if not more since I did a real weights or push ups/pull ups workout and I did real poor!

So for the coming weeks until I finish my one year (around the 26 of june I believe, I was one of the late joiners) I will focus at least twice a week on the upper body!

It's funny how the P90X (original) is one of the most pleasing set of videos, except for that one with the big not laughing guy, they are all real nice!

CHEST AND BACK!

What a beast! I certainly wasn't getting numbers like everyone in the video but I was able to hang in and stay tough. Usually got 10-15 pull ups (1-2 with band assist, remainder with chair) and 12-18 push-ups per set. It's a good start!

I have to take a break due to a lunch appointment and will do ARX when I get back. Day one down! What fun.

ARX down in the afternoon. Harder to complete than after a MS workout. ;) I will say that Jason, the RIP KING, was phoning it in on oblique v-ups compared to me today. emoticon

Plyoooo tomorrow.

Everyone is doing so well.
I'm glad for Kim. Back in Nov I was contacted by BB to summit my Power 90 Success Story but I just didn't feel like I was a success story at that time. It's hard to be Canadian and not to be eligible to win. I know it's about being healthy but it's hard when you feel left out of the benefits.
Today was a amazing day for me to push pass my comfort zone. I went on my run. I started a training for a 5 km run. I was to do a pace of 7:26 For 22:19.My watch is broken so what I decided to do is run at a pace that felt right and see how long I could go for. The most I have done is 6 minutes of straight running than walk for 1 min x3.I started my run and I felt great I was running with my heart. My path passes by my daughter school. It was perfect timing my daughter was out for recess and I had a chance to jog around her and wave hi to my baby girl. I was at 11 minutes by this time. I felt amazing to see my girl so I continue to run and kept running until I came to 22:23 .I did it I ran for over 22 minutes straight. Now to come home to check my fit bit to see what the pace was. I didn't do pace 7:26 but I did do 8:13. I was happy that I stayed at that pace for the whole thing. I did push myself hard .I was out of my comforted level. So I ‘m happy with myself for doing my best and forgetting the rest. Tomorrow is Shoulders and arms, I'm looking forward to it. On weekend my daughter and I will be doing a 5km walk for ALS. It how my daughter and I want to celebrate my 40th birthday.
I'm going to do a 5km run on August 18 and my daughter will be doing the kids run on that day too. So we will keep each other busy with walks and other outside actives.

Nice run Angela emoticon
I got the guts to do PlyoX today:
Time: 1:09:13
HR average: 151
Calories burned: 678
I pressed pause when my heart rate went too high and started again when it came down to a certain point. I was pretty wobbly at the end, but I did it all! Happy!

Plyo! I was really expecting the worst but it seems Plyo Legs helped a LOT.

Again though, I was kind of dogging it for the last 15 minutes; I clearly have to build up the endurance there and that seems to be an intensity difference between Master's & X.

Fun, crazy calorie burn, nowhere near as bad as I expected.

Yeah, I agree. Masters was was harder with all the squat type things in a row, X is doable...it is the cardio that gets you!

Did my run yesterday morning and it went rather well. I still struggle with the running at 5am with nothing to fuel my runs but I'm sure it will get better in time.
Shoulder and arms yesterday, and except for one or two exercises I did not lose anything on that one, so I guess I mostly lost in the chest and back, and I will make that my focus.

Today will be Yoga in the evening and of course a run tomorrow morning, even if it rains.
I think I'm going to build myself some kind of exercises rep and weights tracking tool as most worksheets are designed for a single round and I dont like that.

Yep, I agree totally, Desi. The squats give that burn that is harder to shake than just getting winded from cardio. From all the talk on Plyo X I'd expected my legs would be as sore as my chest was, but really it was just a long, huge sweat. A little sore right after? Sure, but not three hours later. I expect I'll get what I'm dreading in Legs & Back.

Angela - are you doing your run training as cardio and then just the P90X resistance workouts? That's not a bad idea.

I have Shoulders & Arms in about an hour and I'm looking forward to it. Still a little sore from Monday.
