RE:My journey with P90 after giving birth-1 year later.
5/15/09 3:38 PM as a reply to coachRosaDS.
Hello,
My name is Rosa, I'm 31 years old, married for 2 1/2 years to a wonderful guy and this past July I gave birth to our first child, a healthy beautiful baby girl named Sophia.

During my pregnancy I gained a total of 31lbs which took my weight to an all time high of 184lbs. Since having my daughter I have lost 34lbs doing a combination of Turbo Jam & Slim in 6 but somehow along the way I lost my "MOJO" and have been stuck at 150lbs pretty much since the beginning of the February, 2007.

I had heard great things about P90 but never really thought about doing the program myself, although I've had the tapes for nearly 2 years.
Over the last 2 weeks, I have read a lot of threads and success stories from everyday people who tried and had success with P90 and the more I read their stories and saw the pictures revealing such GREAT RESULTS I decided maybe I should give it at try.

So yesterday began my P90 story. I did Sculpt 1/2 and my arms felt like they were going to fall off but I felt pretty good after I was done. Today I have Cardio 1/2...we'll see how that one goes. I'm so psyched & pumped about this program I even marked on my calendar all 90 days and discovered I'm due to finish the program a few days before I go back to work from my maternity leave. My goal is to lose about 20lbs (whether I lose 10 or 15 I'll be closer to my goal than what I am now) and to lose my "pooch" and firm up my body.

I'll be taking my before pictures tonight along with my measurements and I'll post those as soon as I have them.
I have to find deep down the motivation and courage to stick to this program for the entire 90 days without letting any outside influences (home, family) hinder my progress.
As Tony Horton used to say in the infomercial "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired".
I even worte on my calendar his saying "THE JOY OF DISCIPLINE OR THE PAIN OF REGREAT? WHICH WILL IT BE TODAY"

If there are any Canadians or anyone else for that matter that would like to join me please do so...I'm going to need all of you.

Thank you in advance for your advice, motivation & encouragement.

Hugs,
Rosa

Hi Rosa.. I have seen you on Monica's thread.. I actually started a message to you there but, got side tracked and didn't get to finish it! I was going to tell you Tina was right about the Hyrdox diet stuff. I used it a number of years ago and besides being expensive... It just doesn't work! Nothing takes the place of hard work and discipline in the pursuit of a new healther you!

Sophia...My wife LOVES that name! If we had another girl that was the name we chose. They grow up quick don't they!

Great job getting started with the p90... Before you know it you will be doing 3/4 like it was nothing!

Best wishes... STAY STRONG!

Hi Greg,
Thanks for stopping by emoticon
I did some search on Hydroxycut and my gutt was telling me to leave it alone!
Being a woman I trust my instincts so I listen to my inner voice was saying emoticon
I have never been a big fan of taking pills only when I really needed for headaches and some other lady stuff.
I do believe in eating healthy and exercising but sometimes it's hard to get my workouts in especially now that my daughter is teething like crazy...lots of sleepless nights emoticon

When I found out I was pregnant we started talking about names right away simply because my husband and I couldn't agree on ANY names. We are both Portuguese (I was born and raised there, came to Canada in 92, my husband was born and raised here in Toronto) and I didn't want an English name for our child. I wanted a name that could be both. I guess in part I also wanted a name that both sets of grandparents could pronounce. After 100's of lists and still no names I thought I would go into labor not having a name picked for the baby. I think I was about 2 months from my due date my husband and I were talking and he told me he liked Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora's daughter's name Ava...to be honest I didn't dislike the name but it wasn't quite what I was looking for, so more names got thrown here and there and I asked what he thought about Sophia and he liked, however, the spelling is different, I wanted her name to spelt SOFIA but my husband wrote Sophia on all the hospital papers including the application for my daughter's health card...oh well, that's ok...I still love it emoticon

I have Sweat 1/2 for today, I did my workout yesterday at night after my husband put my daughter to bed. During the day I find it a bit hard to get them in and I know if I'm going to stay committed to this program for the entire 90 days I have to workout at a time that I know is convenient for me and WORKS FOR ME! I'll be honest though, I much prefer to workout first thing in the morning. It sets my pace for the rest of the day!

I have my entire week meal planned out for me so it's easier to stick to it.

Thank you once again for stopping by and for your encouraging words...I'm sure I'm going to need them! emoticonemoticonemoticon

P.S. Here's a picture of my daughter, my husband and I taken on December 23, 2006 at her baptism.

Rosa

Hi Rosa,

I saw you on Monica's thread and I just wanted to pop over here to say Hello now that you got your own new home...

Love your pictures of your family, your daughter is so cute...

I moved to the states myself in 92 from Denmark... so not that far from were you are from...

To answer your question on late night snacks... try some of these... sugar free jello, a cup of hot tea without sugar or milk, a plain protein shake... I too like something sweat and it can be tough some times... so hang in there it will get easier...

Great to have you here, can't wait to see what results you will get with P90... I so love that program...

Hi Rosa!

Sophia is SOOO cute!!!! Awwwwww!! Nice family!!

I saw you on Monica's thread also, thought I;d chime in with what I did and will be doing again (next week once I start the X and better eating) concerning late night snacks:
The ONLY thing that really worked for me was to drink a HUGE mug of hot, spiced (no sugar!) herbal tea within a half hour of finishing dinner. This filled me up and gave me the sensation that I had something sweet as "dessert". Whatever fools the mind, I say! And it DOES. emoticon
Doris has some good ideas also.

Glad you're PUSHING PLAY!! Nice home! emoticon

Aloha, Sher emoticon

Hi Doris,

Thank you for stopping by.
Thank your for your complimments about my daughter. The picture posted she was 5 months old...she'll be 9 months next week!!! emoticon emoticon...seems like only yesterday I had her.

I like sugar free jello, unfortunately I can't seem to stomach drinking tea without sugar...I only drink herbal teas my favorite is the summerberry one.
In terms of sweets I found these Weight Watchers cakes for 90 calories and they come in three different flavors: chocolate, carrot and lemon. I bought some to have them once in a while I guess whenever my sweet tooth kicks in.

I hope it gets easier but I did Sweat 1/2 and my oh my...the knees out killed me...my thighs and hips were hurting so I paused the tape for a few seconds, got some water and off I went. Probably my favorite part is the punches & the kicks...loved it.

Thank you so much for stopping by...
I look forward to posting more and seeing more posts around here.
Thank you for all the encouraging words.

P.S. Here's me during my pregnancy...8 months pregnant on my baby shower

Hugs,
Rosa

Hi Sher,
I'm so jelous of you...I wish I lived in Hawaii!!! Would love to visit one day!

Thank you for stopping by, I feel so special emoticon
Believe it or not, I love P90 better than Slim in 6 and to some degree TJ.

My craving for sweets hits when TOM arrives and during. This makes it hard for me and I'm trying to find ways to make working out during TOM a bit more comfortable.

I did Sweat 1/2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!emoticonemoticonemoticon
I'm so proud of myself. This is two days straight of working out! Usually I skip days sometimes weeks.emoticon

Thank you so much for posting on my "home" emoticon

Have a good night.

DAY 3

It's day 3 and I feel pretty good other than being sore...oh my am I sore. My shoulders hurt and the back of my thighs are killing me. During the workout last night I noticed I was getting pain on my feet emoticon, I've never experienced that. I had runners on so I'm not sure what this was all about.
Oh did I also mention my calves?? emoticon emoticon
Good gracious I thought I was going to die!

The cardio portion of P90 I find it a bit harder than let's say Ramp It Up from Slim in 6 which is a surprise to me because of all the squats and lunges Debbie does! I do not know if it's because of the "sectional progression" but I'm pretty much sore all over...even the bottom part of my neck...not terrible pain but I am sore...I guess it's my body is REALLY out of shape! Power 90 will change that I'm sure! emoticon emoticon
I can't believe I did 2 days straight of workouts! This is huge for me.

If anyone reads this and I'm either not making sense or there's spelling errors, please forgive me but I have been up since 2:30 in the morning with my daughter.
I don't know what happened but at 2:30 Sophia decided to wake and NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP.
After feeding her and changing her diaper and rocking her SEVERAL TIMES I was not going to win this battle with her. emoticon
I finally brought her to the living room and put her in her playpen while she watched cartoons (yes, my 8 month old daughter LOVES cartoons), she finally fell asleep around 6 but then it was time to get my husband's lunch ready. I'm tired that's for sure.

Anyway, I'm about to go and have breakfast and I thought I would post what my meal plan will look like for the day

Breakfast:
1 pack Quaker Instant Apples & Cinnamon oatmeal (33% less sugar, I know the rolled oats are better but I just can't eat it)
1 cup fat free milk
1 nectarine
Snack:
20 almonds
1 Orange
Lunch:
1 Egg
2 Tbsp fat free mayo
1 Tbsp chopped onion
1 Tbsp parsley
1/4 cup arugula
2 Slices Low Carb Whole Wheat Toast
1 banana
Snack:
1 Turkey Burguer (homemade: 208 calories )
1 Slice Fat Free Cheese
1 Cup Cauliflower
2 Cups Baby mixed greens
1/4 cup cherry tomatoes
3 onion slices-thin
2 tbsp fat free Italian dressing
1/4 cup (1 scoop) Breys 98% Fat Free Chocolate Ice cream
1/2 cup honeydewmelon
Total Calories: 1424...couldn't get it to 1500 but it's pretty close more than what I usually would eat anyway.

I feel pretty good about my food choices, I haven't given in into chips, chocolate bars, pies, cookies, you know all the nasty stuff which is huge for me and there's NO SODA in the house other than 2 cans of Gingerale. I told my husband NO MORE POP!!!!! Not that I drink it everyday but sometimes I would have 1/2 glass or so...no soda in the house, no drinking! emoticon

I have NEVER, EVER, EVER felt this way about a program like P90. Honestly! I'm so determined and focused at times I feel like I'm losing my mind but I'm not.
It was Monica's words & pictures that got me here. I took a look at her Day 1 picture and her measurements are pretty much where I am today except she weighed a little more than me. If she did it I CAN DO IT TOO!!!!!!!
I guess in a way she was my motivation & inspiration....THANK YOU MONICA!!!!!

Hugs,
Rosa

Day 4

Today is day 4 and what can say...I'M SO SORE!!!
Last night I did Sculpt 1/2 and today I'm feeling it that's for sure. My back is sore, my hamstrings/calves...pretty much I'm sore all over but it's a good sore emoticon

Last night I almost talked myself out of working out but deep down I didn't want to be 3 days into the program and already skipping workouts so I got up and I went into my bedroom, popped the tape in and off I went. I felt like I had won the lottery...after I was done I "xed" the day on my calendar...3 workouts done, 3 more to go until I get a rest day!

Greg

Hey Monica,
Thanks for stopping by.emoticon
After seeing your results and reading EVERY SINGLE POST in your thread I found myself wanting to try it, so I went for it.
Today is Day 5 and I have Sculpt 1/2.
I'm still sore specially my calves.
I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 1lb but I'm going to ask my husband to hide the scale otherwise I'm going to become obessed with it. emoticon

I know it's only been 5 days but I swear I feel changes in my body, like my waist, one of my track pants is elastic and it's lose on me! Is it possible that only in 5 days I could feel these changes already? My husband took my measurements last night but I think he did them wrong.

How often did you weigh yourself when you started the program? Did you also eat carbs for dinner? Like rice/pasta/potato? Just wondering because I want my diet to be good in order to achieve my goals and not only do I want to lose inches, I also want to lose 20lbs to take me down to 130 at least.

Anyway, thank you for your motivation, encouragement & help. You truly have inspired me to take on Power 90. Thank you again.

Hugs,
Rosa

Hey Rosa!!!! I'm so glad you found a workout that you REALLY like and can stick to!!!! It's all about finding the RIGHT FIT!!!! emoticon

You could be seeing results of the clean eating and the workouts. Especially if you were retaining water and now it's getting "flushed" out.

Have I told you how much I LOVE your daughter's name!?!?!? It's so ladylike!!! emoticon

As far as carbs, you can have all things in moderation. It's the same with diet as with workouts, experiment to find what works best FOR YOU!!! If some carbs at dinner doesn't make you feel bloated or seem to hinder your losses, then go ahead and have some in moderation.

I'm SOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!! emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

2 Slices Lean Roasted Deli Chicken Slices
1 tsp mustard

1 Banana
Snack:
10 almonds

2 tbsp salsa
1 cup string beans
1 cup cauliflower

I may end up eating a piece of fruit as dessert, not sure what but I'll have to check spark for the calorie count.

Hi Doris emoticonemoticon
To be honest, I don't use WOWY as much as I would like.
Everytime I set up a workout I never go through with it because my daughter either wakes too early and doesn't go back to sleep, or she wakes up just as I'm getting ready to get my workout done. This has happened several and I mean SEVERAL TIMES. It's like a curse emoticon

I usually workout at night after my husband puts her to bed. It seems to be working for me so I'm going to stick with it.
I think the only time I would be able to use WOWY would be on Saturdays when my husband is home and if she wakes up he can tend to her while I'm working out but during the week is pretty hard.

How's P90X treating you? Have you started?

Rosa

Thank you for stopping by, it means a lot, I feel like I'm not doing this on "my own" sort of speak.

First of all YOU LOOK AAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!! emoticon emoticon
My goodness, they are right when they refer to you as the shrinking woman emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

Thank you so much for your compliments on my daughter's name. I love it too emoticon And the funny thing is it fits her personality so much. She's going to be trouble let me tell you emoticon

With regards to the workouts I love Turbo Jam but I absolutely Love Power 90. I'm enjoying it so far. I like the pace, I like the way Tony talks (he's hilarious), it just seems to fit my needs at this point.
In terms of food, I have never eaten so much fruits/veggies like I am now other than when I was pregnant. I haven't had any junk, soda, none of that stuff and I'm drinking a lot of water as well. So it's possible that I'm feeling these changes based on what I've been doing in the last 5 days I just thought for a moment there I was imagining things emoticonemoticonemoticon

My husband won't take my pictures in a "bikini" so I can post them because he doesn't want "other people" to see me in the bikini...I was so ticked off at hime last night. emoticon
That's okay, I'll find a way.

Anyway, thank you again for stopping by...I'll make a trip over to yours shortly.

X-IT BABY!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hugs,
Rosa
