Here's the original post I made on my other thread in the Si6 section called I BELIEVE!:

A little about me:

Being a 35 year old, single mother isn't the easiest thing in the world. However, I wouldn't trade that 24/7 job for anything in the world! Without a doubt, the number one motivator in using the Beachbody programs is to stay healthy for my son. Not only do I want to be able to keep up with him as he gets older, I want continue to watch him grow.

My career can be very demanding/stressful at times. Currently, I teach 4th graders. In my class, I constantly tell the kids that I believe they can each achieve what they want to, but THEY must believe that they can...I don't like to hear the word can't! My students make me laugh on a daily basis and because of them, I find my job rewarding!

When I'm not with my son or teaching, I do enjoy watching the Philadelphia Eagles during football season. FLY EAGLES FLY...they even have a wall in my classroom!

Like many others, I was VERY active when I was younger and VERY fit. Having been with someone who pointed out my flaws only made them worse, and I hid. I'm trying to change my mindset by taking control of my life. When I look in a mirror, I see fat/ugly despite what others say (after hearing that for years, it kind of sticks with you). Having a positive frame of mind is important, and I'm hoping through these programs, I can have that, more confidence, and then some!

My journey so far:

About a year and a half ago (March 2007), I was heavier than I'd ever been in my life! Shopping for size 14 clothes was very discouraging; however, seeing 162 lbs. staring up at me from the digital scale was shocking (I'm 5'2" and have a small body frame). At that point, I knew it was time to make changes or suffer consequences.

One of those changes involved ending a relationship of about 11 years. My ex-husband and I divorced in 1999, but stayed together until July 2007. Trying to "work it out" was obviously not working and only created more stress in my life. Things were not easy. For the first time, I was completely away from my family/friends.

Concerned about finances, I took a second job as a server at a local restaurant. This only took a toll on me physically and began to make me sick. After a month, I had to quit that job. It did help me to lose some weight, but stress and running myself ragged was not the way I wanted to lose weight.

Within a few months, I went through some of my belongings and found an old Power90 DVD. Knowing that I enjoyed it once before, I popped it in, pressed play, and began to just do the workouts. People were noticing. Not only did they notice a physical difference, they said I seemed happier.

After a while, I decided to try something new. That brings me to starting Slim in 6. On August 31, 2008, I'm at 130 lbs and would truly love to lose 20 lbs. I've also ordered Hip Hop Abs because it looks like a blast (and I'd love to learn to dance...LOL)!

Next post will include my stats, diet, workouts, feelings, etc. since starting Slim in 6.

So, I asked my family if they could send me pics before I started going through my transformation. You see, when the camera came around, I used to HIDE (or I'd say, "Let me take the picture"), so there aren't too many pictures of me. My dad sent me the following pic from March 2007:

Since then, I've lost some more weight. Today, the scale said 118 lbs and 29% body fat (which is odd because it said 25% yesterday...can it increase 4% overnight)?!?!

I used HHA, but didn't go through the full program. Today, when I go out, I've been known to use some of the moves...people think I'm a good dancer, but those who are close with me know that I'm just working my abs! LOL

Also, I used some Si6, but again, didn't go through the full program. Sometimes, the program is monotonous. Even when I mix it up with my music, doing the same thing daily just wasn't always "cutting it" with me. One of the things that did keep me going was Debbie. She is AWESOME!! I love her positive energy and spirit so much that I asked her to come do a workout here in Arkansas...it's taking place in May!! emoticon

That said, I'm thinking that the muscle confusion with P90x is what I need to keep consistent. It's what I need to keep focused. It's what I need to bring me to a new level. Having changes in a workout daily will give me something to look forward to (although I'm sure there will be some that I'll dread and push through).

After looking at the calendar and wishfully hoping to get my products within a week, it looks like I'll be starting P90x on Monday, February 16 (or sometime that week). I'd really LOVE to have company along with me!

Has anyone else just ordered the program and thinking about starting then? Let's BRING IT together!! emoticon

This upcoming week will be kind of hectic for me (conferences daily after school), so EVERY day will be a long one for me this week! I'm not planning to push myself too hard because of this. I will try to keep myself eating right though.

=) Cheryl

WOW! What a transformation already. I am sure that you are an inspiration to family, friends, and co-workers. With P90X you are sure to tone and lean that body out even more. I'm actually excited for you. You look so much more "alive" in those last pics. I'm 34 and a 4th grade teacher as well. My wife and I started this program on Monday the 2nd of February and I love it. I'm not saying that it is easy, just saying that I like the variety. Well I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions, just contact me (look in profile)

Thanks so much! I'll get in touch with you...I KNOW from experience that having support on these boards really DRIVES you! When you're having "one of those days" it just picks you back up and gets you going. Either that or you get a kick to the booty and a dose of reality! emoticon

I think that's awesome that you're both doing it together. Such a great thing to have someone RIGHT THERE with you. I have a friend who said he'd do it with me, but I don't know if it would be a good idea (he's an ex).

Every time I see a teacher on here, I LOVE it! We work sooo hard and make so little...it's frustrating trying to make ends meet as a single mom...ugh! Thinking positively though, I WILL succeed!

Where are you guys located? Have you seen any results yet?

=) Cheryl

Thanks! Like I just mentioned, I KNOW that having support here will help me BRING IT harder! I've got such a positive attitude (most of the time) and try to see the BIG picture. If I have a bad day, I try not to dwell on it.

I'd love to have company if you want to stop in...if you have a thread, I'll pop over there too! emoticon
