I've read the Nutrition Plan a few times but find it a bit confusing and complex to plan for, e.g. 5 servings of protein, 2 servings of diary, 1 serving of carbs, 1 snack etc. What if my snack, or serving of diary, also contains protein?
For example, for breakfast I ate 1 serving of plain non-fat yogurt, which has 7 grams of protein, and 1 cup of cereal, which has 6g of protein. Does that affect the number of servings of protein that I have to eat?
I would be much easier for me to have it laid down like in a nutrition label. For example,
on the P90X diet, at Phase I, Level I, you need to eat:
- Calories: 1800
- Total fat: ??g
- Cholesterol: ??mg
- Sodium: ??mg
- Total carbohydrate: 26..86g (*)
- Protein: 5*(17..26)g = 85g .. 130g (**)
- Vitamin A:
- Vitamin C:
- Calcium:
- Iron:
That way, I can mix and match any foods I want and can eat, and not be limited by the foods listed in the portion approach. Also, very important, this will enable people to track what they eat at
restaurants, where you can't really pull out a balance or cup to measure the food. So after eating out, you'd go to thedailyplate.com or dietfacts.com, look up your restaurant meal, and track it.
So, can someone fill in that Nutrition Facts label, and maybe for the other Phase/Level combinations as well?
(**) In the meal plan, you can see that Cheese Scramble - Level I has 34g protein and provides 2 servings of protein. On the other hand,
Shrimp Stir Fry - Level III has 78g protein and provides 3 servings.
Turkey Burger - Level III has 61g protein and provides 3 servings, so the range of protein per serving is rather wide.
What does this mean? That Nutrition Facts don't correspond exactly (or close) to P90X servings.
(*) Calculated from Phase II -
Chicken Caesar Lunch - Level I and
White bean and tuna salad - level III.
