The bottoms of my feet hurt like mad during the latter half of the calf raises, from the sides of my pinkie toes across the arches. This happen to anybody else? I'm guessing it's a sign that I'm using too much weight, especially since my "my weight to Tony's weight" ratio is usually 2:5 or 1:2 max, and in this case he's using 20s to my 15s. But I'm still able to do the raises with good form, and it's more my feet than my calves, so I'm hesitant to drop down any weight.

Are you clinching your feet? Have you tried slightly adjusting the angle of your ankles?

Clinching - not that I'm aware of. Not sure how you mean to adjust the angle of my ankles - since the sets are 25 outward, 25 parallel, 25 inward, I adjust my stance for each of these directional changes.

I thought it might be a cramping issue, which would be caused from clinching or having your feet in an odd position, which can be solved by adjusting within the confines of good form, which is what I meant by angle of your ankles. Sorry that wasn't clear.

If that doesn't work and you think it's just from too much weight, try lessening the weight and tell me what happens.

You do have some muscles that have tendons that run under your feet and attach to help flex your foot and your toes. Plus you have a few very small intrinsic muscles in your feet, but you probably not working those doing this exercise. So I guess my question for you is are you feeling a muscle strain kind of pain, like a "holy cow I just did 40 mason twists and my abs are going to fly off my body" kind of pain, or is it a different kind of pain all together?

If it's the muslce kind of pain then my guess is you either have to get rid of a little bit of weight or just keep working on building those muscles. If it's another kind of pain you may need help stretching out your feet muscles (seems hard, but it can feel really good to have a massage therpaist do that) and make sure there's no "other" issues.
