Good Evening!!!

As we prepare for any fitness program there are a few things we need to focus on first. They are:

Nutrition: Be prepared by getting a solid nutrition plan in place prior to starting, The Insanity program provides an excellent guide to follow. You can do this week to week or even plan out your entire month. It plays a key role in the success of this program. If you want to see great results you need to spend some time getting comfortable with your nutrition. Over time you will learn new eating habits that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Where You’re At: Make sure you document where you currently are. You will feel a huge difference at the end of 63 days but it’s always nice to see the results on paper and in the mirror. Don’t underestimate the power of the mind.

• Take your Measurements
• Take your before & after pictures
• Take the fit test

I don’t expect you to share the measurements with any of us so don’t be kind to yourself. By clicking on this thread you have already started the commitment to change your life.

Here a few videos by Team BeachBody you can watch so there is no question where and how you do pictures and measurements (I messed up my first time through:

Hey Tim. Good looking info.

Legs are fried today. Best Insanity workout ever. Worked out with a bunch of peeps at work today. When you are acting like the trainer, you don't want to take any breaks and you want to jump as high as Shawn T. I'm gonna feel it tomorrow. Seven of us did PCC. Everyone liked it and will be there for the next one. A few popped their heads in and showed interest into coming next time.

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!!

Jason- It's amazing how you can tap into unused energy when you are leading a workout for a group of people. Sounds like you really brought it and showed them what Insanity is about!!

Nate- Thanks for stopping by and giving kind words. I think Insanity is the best cardio workout routine on the market right now. After completing a full round you will be in the best cardio shape of your life!!

Mike- Thanks for stopping by!!!

As the days count down to starting I plan to slowly work my body to get it ready for Insanity. This morning will be P90X ABX routine then a full day of 4th of July festivities. I hope to squeeze in a quick run this evening to cap of the day. As with any Holiday, nutrition will be the key for today. I'm going to work hard at eating and drinking clean!

Hello everyone.

I'm so glad there's a group starting next week. The idea of doing this alone was starting to give me second thoughts. I've completed a round of P90X each year for the past two years. I put all of the weight back on, but none of the inches (still have my "lady guns"...LOL). So, now I want to get the weight back off.

Looking forward to the journey.

Good Evening Everyone!!!

Pastor Mike, KristenM, dmellis, Tod- Glad to see you stopped by and chimed in!! I am really excited for Monday!!! As a team we will be able to achieve new heights in our physical fitness.

Warrior4Life, Cool- Being a week ahead you will be able to fill everyone in on what is coming. Warrior it sounds like you had a great first week. Cool, how was the first week for you?

Amita- It's nice to hear you are already adjusted to the eating routine and ready to start the program with a clean slate. How was the transition? Did you have some stuggle areas? It's also cool that you and your husband are doing the program together. The support will be great as we move through the first few weeks. I prefer to workout in the morning as well. My energy level is always lower if I put it off to the evening.

Daily accountability:
Today I didnt' push play but I worked on the yard all day and did a ton of squats picking up all the debris. I am going to turn in a little early so I can get up and go for a nice morning run tomorrow.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with fruit
Snack: Banana
Lunch: Chicken Salad w/out dressing
Snack: Skipped due to yard work
Dinner: Small salad w/out dressing, 7 oz steak and one cup of mixed veggies

Tomorrow I will post some more info on nutrition as we prepare to get INSANE!!! emoticonemoticon

Have a great night!!!

Coach Tim:
Thanks for the welcome. The biggest problem i have with the nutrition program is eating the nessecary calories. Im not beating myself up over it right now because I havent started the workout yet and have been slowly working my way up to 1700+ calories a day per the formula in the nutrition guide. I struggle with getting enough veggies too. Fruit isnt too much of a problem. I am wondering how well I am going to be able to handle all the calories since I have reduced stomach size due to my RNY gastric bypass I had in 2008. I did the fit test last night but wasnt able to devote myself fully to it since my toddler son was in the mix trying to "help" but I think i did pretty good. Im not sore this morning so I am wondering if I didnt put enough effort into it. Again, I was wired after the fit test and wasnt able to get to sleep until 1130 pm so it was a struggle to get up this morning at 4 am when the alarm clock went off. Have a great day everyone!

Yesterday was Cardio Recovery for me, and yet again the Thursday workout from a TBB program tends to be the worst for me. In P90X it was Yoga, in Insanity it's Cardio Recovery. Now, I realize this routine is pushing my body and in the end is a benefit, but as a "bigger" guy half the moves from the P90X Yoga routine are basically impossible. The moves in Cardio Recovery aren't nearly as hard, but I'm pretty sure I was sweating more from just trying to "hold" a pose than during some of the more intense portions of Plyo.

I will say that today I'm finally starting to feel some of the DOMS subside, as the last couple days it has been very noticeable. I've been making sure I get up at least once an hour and do some light stretching at my desk or go for a short walk around the office to get the blood flowing back into my legs.

The first time I tried Insanity I made it through the fit test, barely, and then Plyo day hurt my legs so bad I couldn't hardly walk for three days and so I had to stop. This go round I had no problems with the fit test and have made it through the last three days without any issues but have had to deal with DOMS but am thankful it is slowly starting to subside. I believe that by the time I make it to day 1 of week 2 I'll have little to no DOMS to worry about.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Amita- The calorie intake can be somewhat hard at times. If you can't reach the target goal for calories a good rule of thumb is, "are you feelign tired throughout the day?" If you are getting tired then you need to make sure you are fueling your body properly. Being a morning exerciser this might not be a problem for you since you are playing catch up all day and not getting ready to burn 500+ cals for an afternoon workout. Let's see how it goes during the first week and we can adjust as necessary.

Warrior4Life- The soreness is something everyone is going to go through during the first two weeks. Just remember to pace yourself during the workouts and continue to push forward. Even if you are sore, push play, your muscles will loosen up during the workout and you will feel better. Also, make sure you are properly fueling your body after the workout. Your recovery time will be greatly increased if you don't have a good recovery formula and a good meal. A good rule of thumb is a recovery drink of 5 to 1, carb to protein ratio. The carbs will be sent to your muscles immediatley to start the recovery process. Then follow it with a protein shake or something similar to help sustain and build muscle. Getting up and stretching throughout the day is a great solution as well.

This morning I got up and road the bike for 10 miles and plan to work on the yard all day today. If I get time I'm going to do some light upper body work tonight.

I'll post some additional info on nutrition this evening.

Have a great day!!!

Good evening everyone!!! Only two more day until the fit test!!

Here are some tips as we prepare ourselves for the first week (some of the info will be discussed multiple times):

Track your progress: Take notes at the end of every workout so you know what to focus on the next week.

Pre Workout: Ensure you have enough fuel to get the intensity during your workouts. A pre-workout meal an hour or so before your workout is very important. But make sure not to eat right before you workout. These routines are intense and you could end up losing it if you workout to soon after eating. Shakeology is a good way to fill up the tank before a good workout! Added bonus it taste awesome and its good for you!

If you workout first thing in the morning you might want to skip eating and take a pre-fuel 15 minutes prior to working out. If you do make sure you get your recovery in after the workout and then EAT something within 30 - 45 minutes. You need to fuel your body!

Post Workout: One of the most important parts to any exercise routine is a recovery drink. I cannot stress how important this is, your body will be sore and by adding a recovery drink immediately after your workout you will significantly decrease the amount of soreness you will experience while recovering from your workouts. The P90X Recovery Drink is a very good product and I highly recommend it.

Keep in mind the first week is rough! Expect to be sore and tired. Do not give up your body will adapt very quickly and in no time you will start seeing results.

If this is the first time you are completing Insanity you might want to watch the DVDs prior to working out. This will allow you to see the different routines and learn the moves prior to starting the workout. Make sure you focus on the key points Shaun T. talks about so you can stress the right muscle groups throughout the workouts. Start by focusing on the first months workouts to include Cardio Abs. Save the “MAX” workouts for the recovery week.

Post your Accountability Daily: The message boards are a great way to meet others that are going through what you are going through and it helps stay accountable and motivated! The power of the message board will become very evident after the first week and everyone’s success/accountability will be linked together.

Have a great night!!!
