Hi Ladies! emoticon

My name is Kelly and I'm a Diamond Beachbody Coach. I started my journey with Beachbody about two and a half years ago when I knew I needed something that would help me lose a bit of weight, tone up, and increase my cardio endurance and strength. So I decided to take a stab at P90X and boy, what a great, great way to kick things off! I got great results from Tony and Co., lost 12lbs and was in better shape than I'd been in for a long time. As I finished up my schooling, "life happened", priorities shifted, excuses were made, and before I knew it, all the weight I had lost with P90X was staring right back at me.

In April of 2012, I put my foot down yet again and knew I not only needed to clean up my eating habits but really crank up the intensity of my workouts. I was determined to whip my butt into tip-top shape. And to do this, I chose INSANITY and Shakeology. I don't think I quite realized what I was getting myself into but man oh man is Shaun T a great trainer and motivator to the extreme. My 60 days flew by and I had the results I was looking for. I dropped 8lbs and about 13 inches overall. But even more than the numbers, I could tell that as each week progressed, my cardio endurance levels were through the roof! To sit down and compare my first versus final Fit Test numbers was incredible! I couldn't believe it. Insanity really opened my eyes in terms of figuring out just how hard I could push my limits not only physically but mentally as well. Shaun T is a genius.

Riding the high of my Insanity journey, I decided to take the plunge with the Insanity "graduate" program, Asylum. And let me just say, right when you thought things couldn't get any crazier, they did! I'm a sports junkie at heart, so I was smiling ear-to-ear when this program was released. Shaun T incorporates the use of an agility ladder, jump rope, and dumbbells for strength training with this 30 day sports-oriented program to really maximize results. At the end of my 30 days, I dropped another 3lbs and felt stronger than ever and as though my stamina had increased ten-fold.

Once I became an Asylum Grad, I thought it would be "fun" to power through the official 30 day Insanity/Asylum hybrid and let me tell you, that schedule is a doozy! Insanity MAX Interval Circuit and Asylum Strength. Back-to-Back. Enough said! I then created and wrapped up my own little wacky 60 day Insanity, Asylum, P90X, and P90X2 hybrid in order to get prepped for Asylum Volume 2, which I tackled on November 12th. Asylum Volume 2 is my soul mate workout and currently my favorite Beachbody program to-date. Shaun T has certainly outdone himself as he cranks things up a notch or three. Earlier this year I started Les Mills Combat and while it was a nice change of pace, I only lasted about 21 days before doing a re-haul of the calendar. I was having serious Shaun T withdrawals and figured why can't we all get along? Below you will find a few of the schedules I've done, while loving every second! I always look forward to challenging myself and pushing my limits while hopefully helping other s do the same! At the end of the day, we just gotta remember to "Do our Best, Forget the Rest, and DIG DEEPER!!!"

Skylink Fitness on Facebook
Skylink Fitness on Twitter

So just in case you're wondering what the heck the whole "Skylink" thing is about, here's the story in a nutshell (and forgive me if it sounds lame, perhaps it's just one of those stories where you have to "be there"):

About 6 years ago, when I was traveling with family - we had a layover/connection in the Dallas Forth Worth airport. Skylink is the train that goes from Terminal A to B to C etc. that you have to take to switch terminals and of course, during this particular trip, our flights were delayed so were a bit rushed to catch our next one. Sure enough, we had a wait a fair amount of time before Skylink arrived and delivered us to where we needed to go. Back then (and yes, still sometimes now!) I was pretty impatient and often narrow-minded and short-sighted about things. So since that trip, my nickname sort of (jokingly!) became "Skylink" - whenever I'd start sweatin' the small stuff, my family would start chirping "Skylink this, Skylink that" lol!

Anyways, while I do like to get from Point A to Point B without much fuss, since starting this journey with Insanity 6 months ago, I not only have a whole new appreciation for health and fitness in general, but I've realized that if you want things to happen, it takes time. You have to be patient, willing to put in the hard work, and take it one step at a time. If you can do this, you will be successful. It's just that simple.

Hey Mona! Glad that you'll be joining me!! How were your results with Asylum? Did you increase your numbers on the final Fit Test?!

This hybrid looks crazy... I mean come on now, Day 1 is Strength followed by Pure Cardio, are you kidding me?! Gonna be leaving a nice little pool of DNA on the floor when that one is said and done!!! lol..

I just got my DVDs and started my first round of insanity yesterday. I enjoy running and weight lifting, so on the days we are supposed to take the fit test, I will be doing those activities instead. I have wanted to try insanity for the past year and I am very excited. After my first workout (Plyometric Cardio Circut) I feel certain that I will get the results that I want!!! I will go through the rest of the workouts this week and then start over with you guys on Monday, but I will just be doing Insanity. Will the hybid last the same amount of time (2 months)? Either way, I'm on bored with you ladies! And if by "DNA" you meant vomit... then yes, I agree ha!

I will also try to get up a profile/info/pictures this week. I just joined yesterday so I'm still working on that.

Oh, by the way, my main motivation for doing this (besides general health and hotness) is my Jamaican wedding next May!

Hi Rachel! Glad to have you on board with us and congrats on taking the plunge with Insanity! Have you already taken your before pictures and measurements?! If not, make sure you do before "officially" starting on Monday... you'll be amazed at the progress you'll make over the course of the next 60 days! You'll then also be able to submit your pics and progress once you're done to get your free Insanity "I EARNED IT!" t-shirt. I wear mine with such pride! lol!

I enjoy weight lifting as well... which is why the Asylum Strength routine is hands down one of my favorite workouts ever... amazing!

The hybrid (on paper) is only 30 days (like Asylum), but once I'm done with the hybrid, I'm either going to (1) continue with the hybrid for another 30 days, (2) do a second full round of Insanity or (3) try the Asylum/P90X hybrid for 30 days...

Nonetheless, I will DEFINITELY be doing one form of Insanity or another for at least the next 60 days!!! So we'll be right there with ya!

By DNA, I was originally thinking massive amounts of sweat but I'm pretty sure vomit fits into that category as well! lol!

Congrats on the wedding next May! You'll definitely be smokin' hot by then for sure!!! emoticon

Ladies,

I'm sure you're well aware of this but it never hurts to reiterate the important stuff... You can workout till you're blue in the face, but if your nutrition isn't on key, it's essentially all for nothing.

Nutrition has always been a struggle for me and even the past 90 days (60 days of Insanity, 30 days of Asylum), I would slip up here and there, but this time around I'm DETERMINED to give it 110%.

So! I've been toying with the idea of posting my daily intake on here... I think it would help me stay accountable with my eating (gotta keep me in check!) and perhaps it will help give you guys ideas for your meals? What do you think?

I track my calories on Myfitnesspal (www.myfitnesspal.com) so as a trial run, here's my log from yesterday. Based on the Insanity Nutrition Guide, my daily calorie goal is between 1800-1900.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

The nutrition part will be difficult for me, but I'm not going to obsess about it too much. I have fairly balanced eating and eat the right kinds and over all amounts of foods. I do however need to work on eating more frequently throughout the day and cut down on my caffiene intake. I drink a lot of diet pop and coffee!!

I just completed the Cardio Power and Resistance. I had a more difficult time getting into the motion of the exercises in this video then I did in the Plyometric circut. For some reason the globe jumps were the most difficult. Regarless, Shaun T and his helpers did a good job keeping me going, and over all I enjoyed it. My favorite exercise was the hurdle sprints. I'm definitely tired, but eager to see how I feel when I'm at point where I can use the workout to its full potential.

I just ordered my Insanity videos. I have been wanting to get these workouts for a long time now. I am so excited. Nutrition is tough for me but I am going to have to make it work somehow. My motivation for these videos is to get in better shape, set a good example for my kids, and get healthier.
Any advise is welcome!

Hi! I'm so glad I found this group indeed to be kept accountable, I just really need tone kept accountable. I just started insanity yesterday and it's INSANE! Everything hurts! During pllyo I thought I was gonna puke and I only had a protein bar early in the afternoon, had to stop mid routines its a little frustrating, I hope I'm no the only one who felt that way the first time. I keep telling myself, Shaun t doesn't expect me to do evthing the first time, the idea is to build up to actually be able to finish it, still it hurts the ego haha, I'm no really overweight but I am out of shape. I weigh 160 and measure 5.4! I should be weighing around 130 or so. My biggest motivator other than getting back in shape is I'm getting married in less than 2 months, and although I don't expect to be at 130 it would make the world of difference to lose at least 15 pounds, you think it's possible? It's a little scary, sometimes I think it's impossible so why even try it right? Then I come into this message boards and see people get results and keeps me at it (yeah even though I started yesterday It took some convincing to actually get the videos, lost some time there ) its just that it sounds too good to be true!

I'm hoping that with this thread, the coach and everyone else I'll be able to stay committed and hold myself accountable. I'm doing my best, I put the insanity calendar right next to my bed so I'll feel bad if I miss one, installed an app on my phone to keep track and joined you guys haha, so... Yeah, I really want it to work! I'm going to give it my all, but I just wanted to know, its ok to stop mid routine when you start feeling dizzy? Even if it means you can't do it all? Is there something else I can or should do to help with this?
I also got enrolled in a gym, it was a gift so I can't stop going, another coach told me its not good to overexcersise cause the body may not lose weight as fast. She recommended to go 3 times a week and keep the workout there light and work my butt off with insanity, what do you think?

Sorry for the long post!! Hi ya'll!! Hope to keep seeing you

Hi Ladies,

I am in for the hybrid but I will be a week behind you as I am wrapping up the Asylum.

Kelly, its a great idea to track your nutrition. I've been on a similar journey -- Began Insanity in April and followed it up with Asylum. My nutrition could have been much better over the past 90 days so I hope to improve it during the hybrid.

Forevercounts -- what app did you use for your phone? With Insanity, the first week was a little rough and then Insanity became addicting and it was never really difficult to keep it up. Just keep pushing play and you will be happy with the results.

Kelly, I see you use Shakeology. I was planning on trying it this go round. How do you like it? Are you using a heart rate monitor to track your calories? If so, which one?

Hey liknit i have an android and i just installed Insanity Workout Routine by Blue Eagle. There is a free app and a paid one (1$) I'm trying the free one before I buy it, if I buy it. It's simple enough, let's you take before and after pics, has a workout calendar reminding you what workout comes next, has a link for the entire calendar, let's u check when a workout is done and keeps track of ur fit tests, the paid app lets u program ur workout and has a reminder and something about ur goal, likes motivator, you can check it more yourself when you install the free one it tells you about the pro extras emoticon hope it helps!

Forever Counts- This is my first round of insanity and I'm getting married in 10 months! It's awesome we have similar goals. And I think your goal of 15lbs is reasonable, but regarless of the number, you will definitely look more fit and have a great lift. The first workout was difficult for me also, but we will get better.

Hi Rachel! Definitely eating 5-6 small meals a day is key to successful eating with any workout program. How many calories are you aiming for each day? I would strongly suggest that everyone do the calculation from the Insanity Nutrition Guide (pages 10-11), just to get a feel for where you need to be. The reason I say this is because more often than not, we tend to underestimate the amount of food we need to eat during an extreme program like Insanity and if we're not getting the calories our body needs, it will go into starvation mode. Not only will eating less bring your metabolism to a halt, but you actually won't lose weight! I know it seems like a double-edged sword, but you need to eat more (healthy of course!) in order to shed pounds! Also Rachel, I would try to ween out the diet pop as much as you can, that stuff is deadly! That's just my $0.02 anyways.

Great job on getting through CPR (Cardio Power & Resistance)!!! Globe jumps ARE difficult to get the hang of but way to push through it. Keep at it, girl!!

Hi Alli! Congrats on taking the next step at being a healthier you!!! Insanity is AMAZING and you definitely WILL NOT regret having ordered the DVDs! Nutrition is often tough for many people so you're not alone on this front! Feel free to do as I'm thinking about doing, posting your daily intake on here so that you can stay accountable for what you're eating!

Welcome to the group! Glad to have you on board! It sounds like you got tons of motivation to DIG DEEP during the next 60 days! Looks like we've now to two bride-to-be's on here! Congrats on getting married, you'll look fabulous in your dress!! 15 pounds is DEFINITELY doable. I actually started out very similar to you, at 159 back in April when I first started. I lost 8 pounds overall but my nutrition wasn't on key the whole time so I'm going to try and really focus this time to get down to my goal weight of 140!

We will definitely help keep you accountable to make sure you get to where you need to be in two months time! I have the calendar very close to my bed as well... the feeling I get when I put an "X" through each day once I've completed a workout is very close to PRICELESS! lol I don't know why, but it's a great feeling!

As for your question about stopping mid-routine, OF COURSE it's okay! ESPECIALLY if you start to feel dizzy! We should all be "digging deep" to a certain extent but you've gotta stay within your limits and know when to step back and take a breather. Don't worry, it's totally normal, especially since you're just starting out! Heck, I would even take breaks here and there towards the END of my 60 days, so just do your best and forget the rest, deal!?

Gym-wise, I would play it by ear and see how you feel. The first couple weeks of this program will likely be a shock to your system. I know when I first started, I was ridiculously sore during the first week... so I'd say listen to your body and if you feel up for it, then sure go to the gym a couple times a week and do what you need to do!

If anyone wants to know how to post your Myfitnesspal food logs, it's pretty simple:

1. On Myfitnesspal once you hit "Complete this entry" scroll down and you'll see "View Printable Log". Click on that and then just take a screenshot (if you have a Mac, it's "Command + Shift + 3" and if you have a PC, it's "Ctrl + Print Screen button") Then just open the screenshot (it should have saved as a .jpeg or .png file) and crop it accordingly, then re-save.

2. To upload files onto here, when you're writing a post, there should be a little "Attach Files" blue button below the text box. Just click on that upload the image!

If this seems to complicated but you still want to share your food intake, you can just write down what you had...

Thanks for the encouragement Kelly! As far as calories, for this first week I'm increasing to about 2500 a day, so that my body has plenty of energy to sustain the workouts and also repair repair muscles. After a couple of weeks I will probably scale it back to 2250.
Now, my hamstrings, inner thighs, and calves are the most sore, but I don't feel so overworked that I won't be able to continue on to do the next days workout. Two days down and I'm enjoying this insanity crase. Although my abs do feel a little neglected. I'm excited to get to Pure cardio and abs tomorrow. Today is Cardio Recovery. What can I expect?

Hi Ruth! So happy to have another "hybrid-er" on board with us!!! Woot! Glad you think it's a good idea to track my nutrition, feel free to join me on that end too!

I do use Chocolate Shakeology and have been using it for the past 5 months. I LOVE it! I have it everyday for breakfast/post-workout or even as an afternoon snack and it's helped me in so many ways... it's helped curb my sweet tooth cravings, keeps me full and satiated longer, and it's done wonders for my nails (I know this sounds bizarre but honestly, my nails are growing super fast! lol)...

At first the price scared me off ($119 for a 30 serving bag) but if you really break it down, it works out to being $4 per shake... and as a meal replacement that's pretty darn good if you ask me! I was drinking at least one Starbucks Latte prior to Shakeology and those babies cost even more than that... so it was an easy switch for me to make. Again, that's just my $0.02!

My favorite recipe:

Chocolate Banana Nutter
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
1 banana
6 oz almond milk
6 oz water
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
4 ice cubes

Mix in blender for 25 seconds... Pure deliciousness!!!! emoticon

If anyone else is interested, let me know and I might be able to help get you a sample! My Coach has some and if you're interested in joining our Team, she'd likely be happy to send some out!

As for my HRM, I use the Suunto M4... it does the job and helps keep me on track! I've attached a pic for you ladies to see... I must admit, the colours had me from the get-go! LOL!

No problem, Rachel! Glad to hear you'll be giving your muscles lots of fuel during the first week or so! They'll definitely need it!

Do you have any specific goals with Insanity, besides feeling FABULOUS for your wedding?!

I'll open this question up to everyone...

For me:
1. Get to my goal weight of 140
2. Reach my 1800 cals a day by making clean eating choices
3. Fit into a pair of jeans that fit me 2 years ago but are way too tight now!
4. Be able to do Pure Cardio (PURE HELL, in my opinion) without taking any breaks!!!

In terms of Cardio Recovery... I'd say the word recovery is slightly deceiving! lol Get ready for lots of iso-hold burners!!! I hate it but I love it... Burns so good!! Let us know how you do!

FYI- Here's my nutrition from yesterday... yes, I know, I had breakfast for dinner but I LOVE doing that every now and then... for some reason, it always tastes so much better!

Hi ladies,

I am 5'1 and weight 150lbs so I was much heavier but lost 17lbs last year by dieting and playing tennis. Im on day 10 of my first round of Insanity and I'm already seeing results.
I'm turning 30 next month so I'm decided to kick some butt and be a healthier me.

The first week, I was so sore that I could barely walk, not my soreness is more localized to certain areas but I feel better than when I started.
