Welcome to the Motivated Mommies message board!!

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Tamara and I became a Beachbody coach to help others. It's great to know there's someone pushing through the workouts as much as you are and we can all help each other in some way. Beachbody has a wide range of programs available for various fitness levels and needs so it's fairly easy to find the program that's right for you.

This message board is for all the Motivated Mommies out there who want to share what motivates them everyday or for those looking for inspiration to make it through another day of workouts. We wear many hats as mothers and it can get very easy to focus on others more than ourselves. So, here we can have fun, motivate each other and get fit together. Let's go!!! emoticon

Let's talk about how you schedule your workouts around family time, work (inside and outside the home), and other activities.

What workout(s) are you doing?

What time of day do you workout?

Hi! I'm doing p90x---in my final weeks! Prior to this, I completed Chalean Extreme. I'm a mom of 3 little ones at home, so my workouts are done in the morning before they wake up! I get up, have my Shakeology first thing while I do some morning reading (and continue "waking up"!), then about an hour later, I begin my work out.

Mornings are the only times that work for me... I know it is totally uninterrupted time, and the time when I have the most energy (evenings I am wiped out!). Loving the workouts, and how BB programs have helped transform this mama! : )

Hi Lcharg! You've done Chaleane Extreme and now P90X - wow that's awesome!! Way to go!! I'm in month 2 of Insanity right now and I love the workouts and the results I've seen so far. I'm thinking about doing Les Mills Pump next in a few weeks when I'm done with Insanity.

I have an 8-year-old daughter and working out in the morning is best for me as well. I'm usually up at 4am every morning (7am on weekends) and it's great because I can focus on working out and I know there will be no distractions that time of morning.

Since you're in the final weeks of P90X - what are you planning on doing next? Another round of P90X, Chalene Extreme or something new?

Hi guys!

I am a mommy to two boys. I work outside the home in the evenings teaching dance. I am in my second month of Insanity and really enjoy it. I work out in the morning after my boys are up and eating their breakfast. We are not early risers and since I teach dance until 7 p.m. most evenings, my body is not ready to work out hard early morning. So, mid morning works great for me. I eat breakfast, workout and then drink Rest and Recovery Formula for my mid-morning snack. I really like the R&R formula. I struggle with soreness being a dance teacher and this has helped so much. I drink Shakeology in the afternoon before I head out to the studio and I love how it keeps me fueled for my little dancers!

Welcome to the group MelissaMcCreary! That's awesome! Insanity is a great workout and its good that you also enjoy Shakeology and the recovery drink as well. Those are wonderful additions to any exercise program. Also I'm a dancer too! Well I've recently moved into the role of dance mom but once a dancer, always a dancer emoticon I took dance classes when i was younger and now my daughter takes classes and she's on the competition team at her studio. What style of dance do you teach?

Wow so it looks like most moms workout in the morning while most of the world is still sleeping. What motivates you to workout everyday? Do your children cheer you on with your workouts?

How about step moms? Mind if I join? I'd love some support from a group of women with similar goals and challenges.

My fiance has four wonderful boys and they live with us every other weekend. We both work full time and I attend college part time, so life is definitely busy!

I'm starting p90x for the first time on monday, and I'm really nervous and really hopeful. I want to get in good shape for the first time since high school. I was a dancer and a cheerleader then, and never had to worry about my weight or being in shape.

I just turned 30, and I've been unhappy with my body shape ever since I gained that first freshmen 15 ... which quickly turned into the sophomore 30, and never lost it. I'm 5'6" and back up to 150lbs now, a number I really didn't want to see again, and I've decided to do something about it!

I'm doing my fit test tomorrow and starting p90x lean on monday. I need somewhere to post for accountability and motivation. I know this will be a hard road, but I also know I can do it!

Hi bb30 welcome! Please feel free to use this group for motivation and accountability with your workout. We're all pushing through various programs, raising children, working, and managing our households. I like to believe that as moms we are like superwomen who wear many hats. emoticon

Good luck with your fit test please let us know how it goes for you. I'm currently in month 2 of Insanity and I was a little nervous about starting in the beginning but I quickly learned that it's more of a mental challenge than physical. You've already chosen a program and set some goals and that's a good start. Next you can take some measurements and actually write down your goals to keep them in front of you at all times. Now just decide the best time to workout and focus on working out the same time everyday. Most of us here workout in the morning before getting the day started. I like to think of that as "mommy time" because I can be selfish and focus on myself before my daughter wakes up.

I hope this helps! Let us know how we can help you. I'm so excited for you and we are all here to join in your fitness journey! Press play everyday.

Welcome coach stephie42! Yes please join in the mommy chat. The more the merrier. emoticon

I've heard a lot about turbo jam but I've never done it. Shakeology is awesome and I love it! I make a shake everyday for breakfast and my daughter looks forward to it every morning. She loves the idea of drinking a chocolate shake for breakfast lol

Great, thanks for the welcome!

I'm also a morning workout person. My fiance and I get up at 5:30 and he's at work by 6, but I don't have to be anywhere till 10 so I have the mornings to myself. He sleeps in on the weekends, but I don't! I love my morning time.

My fit test went fine. I didn't do the curls because I don't have any weights, but I'll be fixing that tonight when I go shopping. I posted all my results and stats to my profile if anyone's interested.

As for goals, I have that pair of jeans. You know, that one pair you used to fit into back in the day, but haven't been able to snap lately? Yeah, I've got those. Once I can fit into them comfortably I'll be a happy camper!

Thanks again for the support! Hopefully tomorrow will go well!

@bb30 glad to hear your fit test went well and good luck with the rest of your program and fitness journey. I'm sure we all can relate to "that pair of jeans" that just hang in our closet reminding us of how they used to fit. That's a great goal to have and I know you can do it!!

I have my pair of jeans like that and before Insanity they were way too tight. By the end of month 1 they fit really well and now on week 2 of month 2 they are getting a little roomy. I wore them to work on Friday and couldn't believe how loose they were around my thighs and waist. I love those jeans but this just gives me an excuse to go shopping. emoticon

How about the other ladies in the group. Do you have that one item of clothing that you want to get back into or something you're waiting to purchase until after your program?

First day done! I did cardio x instead of core because I couldn't get online to check the calendar and could only remember the first one started with a "c". Oh, well. I'll do Core tomorrow (and print myself out a calendar so I don't forget again!).

I feel great and was surprised that I was able to get through the whole thing! I didn't go as fast as they did, and had to modify a few moves, but I got through without stopping! So proud of myself!

Way to go, bb30! I think the first week was the hardest and I was the most sore. I mixed up my workouts a couple of times too. The important thing is that you did something!!

I had a setback this morning. I was doing my Fit Test for Insanity (#3) and my son came into the room with a ball. I wasn't looking at him and he rolled it across the floor. I was doing power jumps and landed on the ball, rolling my right ankle and crashing down. I heard two distinct pops. I was in pain. My husband came and we went and got it x-rayed to make sure it wasn't broken. No fractures but I sprained it pretty good. I'm on crutches for a few days at least. emoticon

So, I need to know your favorite exercises/routines to do that you do sitting or that you can modify for floor work. Hopefully I can start walking by Friday and be back to Insanity in a week or so. Just when I was really tearing it up and improving on my fit test, boom.

Exercise suggestions?

@bb30 way to go on day 1! Awesome! Just press play everyday and you will be able to do more and more as you go through the program. Don't worry about keeping up with the people in video. Remember they've already completed the program (probably multiple times) so just go at your own pace and you will be fine.

@Melissa OUCH!! Oh that sounds painful and I hope you feel better soon and recovery quickly. Of course the most important thing is rest right now but what about some pilates or yoga. You can always find some routines online-try youtube. I'm convinced you can find just about anything on youtube. Feel better and keep us posted on your progress.

@stephie yeah!!! Great results from month 1 of turbo jam! Enjoy the shake cleanse. I've thought about turbo fire or chalean extreme but I've never done any of her workouts. Let us know what you decide to do and maybe we can join you with the workout.

I'm in month 2 week 2 of Insanity and so excited to make it this far in the program. I'm down 8 pounds so far along with 6 inches off my waist and 4 inches off my hips. I'm thinking about les mills pump after insanity to focus on more strength training. Have a great day everyone and stay motivated!!!

@Melissa and Poeticdance, thank you so much for the encouragement! I'm so glad I joined this board.

I haven't told very many of my real life friends that I'm doing this because I'm worried about their reaction, and I don't want to feel accountable to anyone except myself. I really appreciate all the positive motivation!

I woke up just a tad sore this morning, but after doing core, I know I'll be feeling it more tomorrow. I'm sure the first week will be my hardest, but I just need to remember to do what I can no matter what that is and not get discouraged.

I have a question maybe someone could give me some advice on. I hate eating in the morning. My stomach just does not want food. I'm a cup of coffee and that's it kind of girl. I know I need some fuel before I do my workout, but I feel queasy after eating breakfast. Yesterday I tried a shake and a banana, today I had a protein bar and a banana, both mornings I had coffee. After my workout I feel shaky and tired and a little queasy. I wait about an hour after eating before I work out.

I really don't crave food till about 11am, and after I eat a good lunch I feel much better.

What should I do? Changing my workout time isn't really an option. Maybe I just need to find the right breakfast food. I think tomorrow I'll try some eggs.

Hi bb30, well you have to figure out what works best for you and make sure you fuel your body in order to have enough energy to make it through the workout. Some people prefer to eat before a workout and some prefer to workout on an empty stomach. If you feel you need to eat something then it sounds like what you're doing is good with a banana or yogurt or protein bar/shake. Have you tried Shakeology yet? That is another pre-workout option and even if you don't finish it before your workout you can have it to replenish your body after your workout.

I prefer to workout on an empty stomach in the morning and I focus on getting my calories up the day before and I drink a protein shake before I go to bed so that I'm ready to workout in the morning. So basically I rely on the calories from the previous day to help me make it through my morning workouts. It took a few days to get that right with the calories but that's what works best for me. I also follow the Meal Planner on the Beachbody site. Have you set up your meal plan? Even if you don't the meals exactly as listed, it will give you ideas on what to eat throughout the day.

Any other moms have suggestions on how you fuel your body before your workouts?
