shakeology

I was looking to buy the P90x Shakeology but realized it was a little far up from my price range. What are some other meal replacements that are close to being as good as Shakeology but for far less? I don't want to spend more than $50 for a 30 day supply.

BeachBody makes another meal replacement shake (it's in the Nutrition and Supplements category under Weight Management) and retails for $39.95. If you're not going to do Shakeology (and I can understand the cost prohibition), I'd recommend that as a great alternative.

Personally, I'd stay away from Visalus Body by Vi as I used to be on it, but it's so full of artificial ingredients and hidden sugars that you won't be doing your body any favors. Plus the people who sell it are extremely pushy about getting you to join their team to sell product. They care more about money than your health. Just a personal testimony from someone who was with them for 2 years and caught all kinds of flack for switching to Beachbody recently.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Before anyone mentions it, YES, I know not many meal replacements come too close to being as good as Shakeology. I just want something good and affordable that will last me at least a month. I most certainly would like to purchase Shakeology in the future but as of right now, I can't afford to spend over $100 a month for this product. Hope you'll understand.

Another alternative I've found is Whey Protein by Body Fortress available at Kroger, runs about $13.99 for a 27-scoop tub (so close to a month's supply if you're doing 1 shake a day). It's not the ideal solution, but obviously for a budget it may be worth looking into.

A product comparable to shakeology would be Athletes food by neutrabolics. Since I can't post links on here, google search it. Its relatively cheaper, uses organic ingredients, and raises the calories to fit better as a meal replacement.

If you can't find it, Buddy me and message me!! I will be very glad to help!

Is Athletes Food suitable for someone like me who would like a meal replacement shake (once a day) but wants to just lose a few inches? Or should I be looking into something different?

It is very suitable. I would say its pretty comparable to shakeology except there is more macros which in turn, means more calories, 275 calories, 2g fat, 38g carbs and 26g protein. and obviously you can even cut down the serving size too. The serving size is originally 2 scoops but if you want it to be the same amount of calories as shakeology, just lower it to 1 scoop and you'll be good.

Shakeology and Athletes food is meant to be a meal replacement with the benefit of super green foods. Just one is cheaper than the other. You would just replace any of your meals for your day with this.

Meal replacements don't mean you can burn fat faster or anything, but You will be replacing a meal with an even healthier nutrient loaded meal that will help you have energy, and feel better in the end result..

So the answer to your question, with the right diet and exercise, You can indeed fit this in as a meal and lose a few pounds and inches.

Good luck! Oh and if you can't find it, I can send you the link in a message.

I've been looking to buy shakeology myself, but it sure is pricy. I am guessing it's due to the price being elevated from the discounts they offer coaches so they still make a good profit.

I never heard of Athletes Food, I will have to check it out. I'm mainly looking for something healthy that could get my servings of veggies in because I don't like many vegetables at all.

I do P90X/X2 so I feel I got the exercise part down, its the diet I got to get right.

I put myself on the Whey Protein by Body Fortress. For about a week I was having weird attacks. My heart would race & I felt at times like I was going to pass out, other times I felt like I couldn't catch a good breath. My fault totally for not reading the ingredients, but one morning while making a shake, I saw the word Taurine on the label, & I knew what my problem was. I never could tolerate it. No real reason for posting this. I hear a lot of great things about this product. I just can't use it. I quess my point is, You have to find something that works for you. I am on my second round of shakeology. I am so not going to be able to keep buying it. I get up early in the morning and do my workouts. I then make my shakeology with my protein & use Almond milk. Sometimes I use chocolate almond milk, & sometimes I use Vanilla. I have become quite fond of it. I use a shaker & then let it set for a few minutes and it gets smooth. I think its the almond milk. Cause I have made it with water when I didn't need the protien, & it is a little chalky, but if you let it set...it gets thick but smooth. I just chase with a bottel of water. I went a week without taking the shakeology after I finished the first month & noticed that I had to eat a couple times in the morning before lunch. It really does fill you, especially the way I drink it. I tell you, when I decided to get fit and be a little healthier, I was around 130 lbs. I was in my normal range. I'm only 5' 3 1/2" tall. I started my work outs, shakeology & protien in the morning, a little protien before bed to sleep on....and i gained weight for about 2 weeks...then I started loosing. building muscle I guess. In about 8 weeks I was a bit leaner & down to 115 lbs. My body just & my new size 2 cut off shorts are loose on me. My body just reportioned itself basically. I was even told I have a body of an 18 year old. I turn 36 this year. Makes you feel pretty good. I didn't change the way I eat, I just added the morning thing after my work out. I even do it on mornings I don't work out. I never did breakfast before this. I will also add that I hade any kind of raw veggie. I can eat some veggies cooked. I hate hate hate anything leafy & green. So Shakology was a great addition to my plan. As I said before, It's about finding what works for you. If my post encourages even just one....it was worth the time. People always told me that I was too small to be worrying about my weight. I just tell them it's not about loosing weight, it's about being healthy. Our kids are watching, and they will reflect. Best wishes to you all, make smart choices, don't give up, get healthy, stay healthy, & God Bless you!!!!!

Thanks for the info. I will be checking into this stuff. I mentioned in another post, I use my shakeology with my protien in the mornings after my workout & also on the days I don't work out. It's my breakfast. So if I switch to this other stuff you have recommended as a cheaper alternative, I will be able to save even more because I won't have to be using the added protien? Sounds like this stuff has everything I need in it. Wouldn't you say?

I've been using Shakeology for a few months now and I like it but will not continue it indefinitely for the budget reasons. I also like BlueBonnet Vanilla Whey protein, I get mine at Whole Foods but would imagine that it is pretty easily available. I have a sensitivity to some artificial sweeteners and Blue Bonnet is like Shakeology in that it uses natural sweeteners (like fructose and other fruit derived items). Another brand that might be worth looking into is Vega, I've tried them a few times and while not as smooth as Shakeology its pretty good and its high in the green super foods. Blue Bonnet runs around $30 for just shy of 30 servings and Vega is a little bit more expensive, depending on which type you choose.

Justinsavs, thanks for the tip on the Nutrabolics, I'll check that out too. I'm not really liking the change that BB made to Shakeology this time around, they altered the sweeteners they use and it has a lot more aftertaste, unless used with peanut butter or some other strong flavor.

It's actually really good. If you find where to get it, if you choose the Acai flavor as that's the flavor I have, it's super good. I mix it with some orange juice and ice to up the calories more to make it a full meal. I love it.

"its the diet I got to get right."

Steve[/quote]

Diet is by far the hardest thing to get right in any program. Have you taken a good look at the meal planer for VIP Club members? It’s cheaper then Shakeology and will plan a whole week of healthy meals with a grocery list. It takes all the guess work out of planning your macronutrients for the day and having to enter in every little thing you eat to a calorie tracker. Shakeology is pretty pricy but it has a lot of healthy ingredients you will be hard pressed to find in other shakes. So remember to compare the ingredients lists when looking for alternatives.

My problem is not so much knowing what to eat, I eat real clean often, it's the urge to eat poorly that kills my diet. I will go a month eating real well, then for some reason, I have a week of poor eating and it sets me back a bit.

Work compounds this sometimes with all the ice cream and cookies they bring in all the time. It's the self control I need the most, I'm still working on that.

The problem with Athletes Food is that it has sucralose in all 3 flavors. It is a good price and has some good ingredients but there is the sucralose issue. If you don't mind sucralose then it seems like a good one.

It does have sucralose. But probably in very very low amounts. Any kind of protein powder or other nutritional/supplemental formula will have some sort of non-nutritional sweetener in it. Studies have been done on sucralose and there have been no side effects from the consumption of it. There have been reports of headaches in some cases which could be from the chemical process that makes sucralose as it has chlorine in it, but most of the drinking water anyone drinks nowadays have been treated with small amounts of chlorine.

Much of the information available on side effects is anecdotal and not based on well-controlled research trials. So even though many places have said that it has all these side effects, They're probably not very right when showing the proof that there is anything wrong with sucrose.

It definitely isn't a set back in the product I haven't had any problem with it and I am just fine and dandy. Atleast it isn't aspartame right?

I would suggest VegaOne.
[link cut]

It's non-Gmo, sustainably made, all the benefits and more of Shakeology, and less than $50/Month at VitamineShoppe. Free delivery. About the exact same calories, and the protein comes from plants so it doesn't raise your LDL like whey, or injure the artery lining.

Even though its sustainably made, it doesn't even come close to what shakeology and athletes food and other super green food drinks have in them. My thinking is if it isn't on bodybuilding.com, it isn't the best and shouldn't be marketed as such.

There is no studies that whey protein damages the lining of your arteries or raises your ldl cholesterol. I know people who's cholesterol is below 90mg and they are bodybuilders who spend their life getting into their best physiques so they can compete. These people take whey protein 3-4 times a day along with lean meats to push their gains.

And also, you'll be yelled at for posting links by Denis so I'd soon delete it before he sees it.

I ordered Athletes Food on Justinsavs advice and it is good. I am still playing with the recipes a bit, but out of the box it is good. I did the Acai Berry flavour and do like it. I am still experimenting though. I will update as I go. Thanks for the great advice.
