journey inspiration whole life fat guy yost 375 pounds chubby kid single man
11/5/12 12:44 PM
Well this will be my first round I started on July 30
My starting weight: 375lbs
My current weight: 311lbs(total lost:64lbs!!!)
My current goal: 225lbs
That means I will have to lose 150lbs! (86lbs to go!)

Right now Jeremy Yost's before and after pictures are my inspiration to push play everyday.
I look at it everyday to keep me motivated, I can do this!!

I'm 31 years old and I am at the biggest I have ever been. I grew up as the chubby kid so my whole life I have heard every fat joke there is. Ive always wanted to lose weight but never stuck with anything. I would some weight and then gain it back with extra. I bought a total gym and used it for maybe one week. I got a gym memebership went for two weeks and then had a layoff so I had to cancel it. The last time I got kinda serious about getting in shape was in 2008. I weighed about 344 then which at the time was my heaviest and thought I better do something! My father has had several heart attacks all begining when he was around my age currently. I can't, no, I won't let that happen to me!! Flash toward to 2012... I'm a 375lb single man who has only been in several relationships and have no kids. Everyone around me has kids and is married or about to be. It sucks being around all of them and being by yourself. I am not doing this to appeal to women, I'm doing this for me, so I can feel happy. Ive had p90x for almost two years now and never used it. The time to change is now! No more slacking, no more excuses, no more soda (I was easily drinking atleast 6 a day) its time for me to show myself how much I love myself!!
I want to be fit! I want to be able to do anything I want! I will bring it!!

This post is mainly for me to keep myself accountable, but if you want to come along my journey with me feel free.
I will post my weight every week for you who are interested. And all my before and after pics will be posted every 90 days.

Hopefully down the line, this will inspire other big men (women too lol) that are just starting. That will mean the world to me!!!
Any questions feel free to ask.

Round 1 Complete!
I've lost 64lbs!!!! Man, it feels good to say that. I'm a lil disappointed I didn't lose more or shown better. That isn't stopping me though. I've already started round 2 so I know my body will show it more this time around. Heres some pics.....

I'm fine being single.... For now lol
Doing p90x is me showing love for me!

I spent a week before starting getting into the right mind frame to do this. During that time I also did the nutrition plan so I could get accustomed to it so I can focus on my workouts. Plyo kicked my butt though lol.

I'm excited for the yoga, looking forward to tomorrow

Thats exactly the way I look at p90x. It's me doing something great for myself, why wouldn't I want to be the healthiest happiest version of me?

Thats great that you did a prep week, especially the diet part. The diet is the hardest part of the program but the most beneficial! While the diet is 24/7 the actual workout only consumes about 4% of your day! When I think of it that way, I realize no excuses or saying I dont have time...I can always commit myself to working out for 4% of my day!

Ok to be honest, I want to prepare you for yoga. It is freaking hard and most people dont like it at first. I am a dancer and thought "oh yoga will be a breeze for me", but I didnt like it much at first either. But Tony says if there could only be one video it would be yoga. It is a mental and physical challenge, but if you stick it out it gives the most benefits and it will grow on you!

You really should join our thread. There are a few heavier guys around your age looking for support!

@mike thank you, pushing play is the hard part

@justine I'm joining your thread, the diet is the hard part it took me a week before I started it just to figure it out and plan out a menu. I've heard the yoga is no joke and I think that's why I'm looking toward to it

My hardest challenge was giving up soda.... I loved it and I miss it but I'm more important than it is. I had headaches for a week after giving it up. I've tried to drink tea but I don't like it, so nothing but water for me

I had to be up earlier today, so I did yoga already(day 4)...
its very hard to do some of it beng big but thats ok. I had to make some adjustments (instead of a yoga block I had to use a small steping stool)I only made it to the 51 minute mark though (just getting into the tree pose) next week I will make it atleast to the 70 minute mark. Im a little upset I didnt last the whole thing, but it's a journey not a overnight thing.

Hey There! You're right, it is NOT an overnight thing. As long as you keep pressing play, you're winning in my book!! emoticon 51 minuntes of p90x is better than 2 hours on the couch! Good Luck on the journey. I will be checking in on you!!

Weekly update: 8-6-12
Well I'm starting week two. I lost 14lbs just in the first week! Now I know that this maybe water weight or whatever, but it's 14lbs!! This week I'm going to push even harder, I have to, I will not short change myself. I have already noticed the ppl who just try to keep you down telling me I won't get in shape or I won't finish all 90 days.... All I got to say is F@#K them!! On a positive side I have noticed the ppl who are in my corner and are encouraging me and I even managed to motivate a 400lb+ man at my work to try p90x! He spent all weekend asking me ?'s which I gladly answered.

Good job man. I am on week 13 right now and I still hate Yoga. LOL

I feel better after yoga than after any other workout, but I dread it the most. But if you made it to the 51 minute mark you did the hard part. I count the seconds to the 42 minute mark, after I have made it to there I feel like I have it beat.

Also plyo kicks everyone's rear. I have two teenage boys who have been doing P90X with me and they were both in pretty good shape when we started and plyo about killed them the first couple of times.

I know that it is hard, real hard, but I promise you that if you will stick with it, it will truly change your life. For the record the first week was far and away the hardest.

Keep us updated.

Thank you for all the encouragement everybody, it helps alot!!

Yes I took before pics and measurements, my pics will all be posted as soon as I'm done with the first 90 days.
Only thing I don't have is my body fat %..... It's high tho lol, I'll worry about that later

Ab ripper x sucks for big people, but I try my best and do what I can, I really hope that I'll be able to do every move for the 25 at the end, if not I'll will have it by the second round.

Day 1 week 2 is in the bag!

P.S. I still like yoga lol

Awesome on liking yoga! And I am glad you took before pics and measurements. I see so many people get to each 30 day mark, look in the mirror, and say what a waste...I dont see a difference. When you see yourself changing little by little everyday you grow accustomed to it. but when you have before and after pics, you see how much you really have improved. Its great motivation! It helped me a ton, especially cause the scale didn't change much for me the first time but my body changed a ton.

Plyo plyo plyo how I hate you....

I saw improvement in plyo from last week which I'm glad, I was actually thinking about subbing it out when tony brought it up but I'm glad I didn't.
By the end I was drenched in sweat and the cold shower felt sooooo good. This kenpo and yoga make me sweat alot and I full the most rewarded after!

I know it's only been a little over a week but all around I'm feeling more alive and healthy and that's what matters.

One thing I've noticed with big people doing p90x, is that they look like a different person all together at the end. I'm curious on what I'm gonna look like
I can't wait!!! 81 more days!!

I guess that's one good reason being big and doing this is....we get to see the scale change more!

Congratulations! Keep it up! I started on July 30th, and the hardest part for me is pressing play. Pouring a glass of wine and watching television seems more appealing. BUT I have NEVER finished a workout and not felt great about myself. I'm going to keep checking in on you to keep you (AND ME!) accountable!
