BEAST MODE
8/23/12 8:09 AM
Join myself and others as we take on Body Beast on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

I joined Beach Body in 2010, and became a coach shortly after my first round of INSANITY. Since that time, I have completed INSANITY several times, along with P90X.

For those that have been on these threads, you know me better as Ed, or YOUCAN2. I am 43 years old, and though not the “normal demographic” of a program such as this, I look at age as a number more than prohibitory.

With that said, for the next 90 days, I will be taking on Body Beast, but will do the program as a hybrid. The only reason for this is I’m heavily involved in CrossFit, and have no plans on stopping. So, I will do Body Beast three (3) times a week and CrossFit three (3) times a week as well. I will complete the entire program as designed, but obviously, it will take me longer than the designed ninety (90) days.

I plan on doing the “bulk” version of Body Beast. I will include my measurements at the start of the program, but here is a recent photo of myself that we will call DAY 1.

Again, I look forward to having you join myself and everyone else as we take on the Beast.

Good luck and we hope to see you here!

Coach
ED

Ed/YouCan: Sounds like a great plan. I'm definitely interested in the program but unfortunately not ready for a Sept 1 start. A question for you though: How many of the workouts require a bench and can you adaquately modify if you don't have one? I've got limited space in my workout room (also a kids room and guest room), so this is one thing I'm going to have to figure out. Have this crazy idea of making a plyo body with a pad on one side so it could pull double duty as a 'flat bench'. Appreciate your thoughts on it.

Hey man, thanks for stopping by. Yeah a bench would be a good idea if for nothing more than stability. However, you may also use a ball. In all actuality, I think a ball is even better as you must maintain a stable core throughout the exercise; just my opinion.

Good luck though, and feel free to stop by anytime.

I was really hoping this section would actually be used just for "Before and After" result stories and not spammed up with accountability threads as they really belong in the workout and fitness program DVD's.

Just my 2 cents.

Good point on the stability ball option. I have plenty of those in the house. (Like 3.) Maybe I should just get rid of one of them and add a bench. Although, the kids love using stability balls during workouts too. Can't take away that fun! emoticon

Looking forward to you posting on this program. I'll be sure to stop by often! Always appreciate your workout ideas, brutal challenges and inspiration!!

RBroussard: Your opinion is more than welcome, and opinion spot on. I too would like this thread to have more before/after photos, unfortunately, though the thread you suggested does have activity, I have yet to see anyone post any photos on this thread. So, I just grabbed the bull by the horns and decided to do it.

Hopefully we will see your before and after photos along with your story as I’m sure it will be inspirational to many.

Good luck.

I would say if you plan on hosting an accountability thread in a "Before and After" thread then you should give the people what they came here for...result pictures. Just like we did in the P90x Team Catalyst thread...we had a weekly challenge crew who posted up a front pose picture once a week so the people who came to see result photos would have something to look at, and it also challenged those posting up not to cheat on their diet and workouts.

I get why you're doing this, you are a coach and there's a lot of activity right now in the Body Beast fitness DVD's section and most newcomers come here first and you stand out.

I have even started an Accountability Thread for Body Beast.

I've said what I needed to say, so I sincerely wish everyone contributing here the best of luck, but just remember you are in a Before and After section, so give the people what they came here for...RESULTS!

And 90 days from today...you will see my result thread here...and it's going to be epic!

Keep pushing the weights gentlemen,

Robert

All is well in the land of the BEAST. I just ordered this items Santa could not deliver on his sled, so I cannot wait to push my weightlifting to a whole new level.
I hope your fitness journey is on schedule as well.

Best of luck,
Ed

Well, if you’ve been following my thread you’ve probably noticed that I’ve practically fallen off the face of the Earth recently. The good news is that it was for a reason, I’m entered in the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games; I’m in the new 40-44 Masters Division.
So, with that said, I’m both terrified and excited to see how I’ll place. This is a World Wide competition, and the finals will be on ESPN, so to say the competition will be stiff is a major understatement.

I will keep everyone in the loop, and you can also follow all the athletes on the web.
I’ve still kept up with my Body Beast workouts, but I will be stepping back from them and other BB workouts, so that I may concentrate on those CrossFit movements I have difficulty with; sometime I feel they are more than I’d like to admit. LMAO!!!!

With that said, I have to give a shout out to Body Beast as I found it to be exactly what it promotes itself to be. In the months that I’ve been doing the program I and those around me have definitely noticed a difference in my physical appearance.

I will definitely take many aspects of the program workouts with me and am interested in what they will develop in the future.

The bottom line is this, no matter your age, or ability Beach Body has a product for you, that will help you reach, and in most cases surpace your wildest dreams.
Anyway, all the best, and keep setting that bar higher and higher.

P.S. If you ever want to contact me for any reason, you can reach me at: xfit4lfe@gmail.com.

Here is a photo one of my coaches took of me after I DL (Dead lifted) this weight. Not a PR (Personal Record), but I believe still respectable. Plus it is good enough for 3rd in our “box” (gym); the top guy, Chris, holds the current record at 505#’s set last night.
Thanks to Body Beast, I’ve increased my strength, and have kept myself competitive.

As always, nothing but the best to you all.

Below is a new PR (personal record) for me in the DL (dead lift); 440lbs. I felt as if I still had some left in the tank, so, maybe 450/455 is well within the realm of possibilities.

As anyone that has followed this link knows, I am combining The Beast workouts with those from Cross Fit. With that said I am entered and currently competing in the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Open in the Men’s Master category (40-44).

This past Wednesday they released the first WOD (Workout Of the Day) called 13.1. It consisted of:

17 minute AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) of:
40 Burpees
30 (75#) Snatches
30 Burpees
30 (135#) Snatches
20 Burpees
30 (165#) Snatches
10 Burpees
As many 210# Snatches as possible

Though I did not hit the number I had hoped for (130 reps), I did do 109 reps, which has me in the 50 percentile.

Tonight, they are scheduled to release the 2nd of the WOD’s 13.2, so, I can’t wait to see what this Hell will look like. LOL!
