Hi! I'm Larry and I just started my 10th round of P90X. I must say, that I have NOT done P90X in over a year or more. My wife and I had our first child in January and I hurt my shoulder last year and had to have surgery which required anchors and screws in my shoulder and bicep.
I had my appendix removed on father's day which also hindered my recovery as I wasn't able to do any physical therapy during the month that the sutures were healing.
I got to the point where I was disappointed in myself for letting all my gains go. I had made such strides with P90X in the past and I found myself getting caught up in the rest of life and started falling into old habits like eating a lot of comfort food and drinking lots of craft beers (which I love, but need to refrain from partaking now). Once the baby arrived, I was over the moon with joy to be with my son while I was recovering from my surgeries.
I started thinking that I'm a 39 year old man with an infant son. I also think of throwing around a football in the yard with him when he's 10 or so. That would make me around 50. If I felt sluggish and lazy now, what will I possibly feel like in 10 years? I don't want to fall apart for my son. I want to be the dad throwing the football around with him, running with him, and being there for him because I'm healthy.
I'm also a police officer and it's easy to fall into bad eating habits on the job. When you work in the evening, it's easy to grab fast foods and suck down Cokes. Not good.
I'm taking control again and although I'm a bit embarrassed, I'm posting my day 1 pic to hold myself accountable. I work out in WOWY everyday now. I am currently in the 3rd week of phase 1 and I'm on Plyo day today. I was released by my doctor and physical therapist to begin P90X. I am modifying for another month as I'm not allowed to do actual pull ups, however, I'm able to improvise with the bands.
I know it works, and I know that it can work for you too. If you want to join me, I'll be posting my progress, (which by the way is already taking shape!)
Also, the nutrition guide is amazing. I followed it "somewhat" back when I first was doing it and still got amazing results. But this time I'm looking to take it to the next level.
Who's in? I want to be held accountable!
