Done with Insanity but gained 2 pounds no weight loss. help!!!
So I completed Insanity and was very proud of myslef! I lost two pounds in the first month then, the second month gained it back! I only ate 1300 calories a day emoticon, and I honestly think this may be what effected my results in the end. I am super scared to raise my calories on round 2, fear that I may gain more weight in doing so. I am 5 foot 3 and 125.6 and I used Insanity forum to calculate the calories and it came out to 1830!!!! and that is with the 500 taken out to lose weight. It seem like way to much for me!

I am now doing the 3 day cleanse before starting my 2nd round of Insanity to help motivate me for this up coming month and to prepare my body for the clean diet.

I guess what I am looking for is support and someone to help me understand how eating way more calories is going to help me lose weigh, it just is not adding up in my head.

How many calories do you eat?

Hi Nicole. Just read your bio. Since you've been dealing with an eating disorder in your recent past I'm just going to say you have to trust the process a little. Clearly, starving yourself hasn't worked. Truth is that the scale is the worst single judge of progress, unless you've got a LOT of weight to lose. And you don't. Focus on your feelings of increasing strength and fitness. How your clothes fit. Make those your goals instead of some number on a scale.

And, obviously, if you keep having extreme fears like you describe it's probably a good time to talk to your medical professional who helped you before.

I completely agree with andrew! You should definately talk to your Dr. in this regard.

But on a side note, to hopefully help you understand the idea of eating more to lose weight...This is gonna be a long one..

Keep in mind that your body burns calories all day long as part of your basal metabolic rate, because it takes energy (calories) for your body to perform basic daily functions that are necessary for life (breathing, digesting, circulating, thinking and more.) Add some physical activity, (bathing, walking, typing, insanity..etc...) uses even more calories each day. With me so far??

When most people start to follow a strict diet, the tend to cut their calories and add in large amounts of exercise..Which is all fine n dandy, but then they cut their calories wayyyyy too low! Once that extree calorie defecit is added with exercise, its working against you...With me still?

Not eating enough can and usually will cause metabolic changes. Your body is smarter then you think and can sensea decrease in its energy. You calorie defecit MIGHT work for a couple days or sometimes a couple weeks, but at some point, your body will become aware and realize that HEY I should PROBABLY conservesome of this energy (calories) since Im not getting enough...It doesnt want to slowly waste away, and quite honestly, your body needs that energy to survive.

So when your not eating enough...What does your body do?.....1. slows down thyroid production, which is responsible for fat, carb, and protein metabolism. 2. Decreases Muscle mass= Muscle mass is really hard to maintain, especially when not eating enough, so when you restrict calories, you body will feed off of your muscle...3= Decreases energy levels...When your not eating enough, your body takes action, your body senses things mentally, and decides, hey im not feelin it today, which is basically your bodys way of telling you, I need to slow down here and conserve some of this energy.


There are way more things I could type about what a calorie defecit will do to your body. But I hope you got the gist of it. Please let me know if this makes sense to you. I would love to help give you the support you need to get thru this, and I hope by me writing out this book proves that Im willing to help.

wow I loved reading your explanation, it sort of made me believe that I really should go with the 2500 calorie diet teambeachbody reccommends for me so thanks!

Thanks for you reply! I did stat eating more and I have lost 15 pounds! Just by eating more while working out!!!! Crazy how that works, but it really does.
