Welcome to any and all that are starting a round of P90X on 9/12/12! If this includes you, please feel free to jump in & introduce yourself & let's work together on a day-to-day basis to keep each other motivated and moving forward!

My name is Ernie & I'm starting my third round of P90X, but have only finished one full round (my first). My 2nd round was cut short due to a running injury & also work demands, but I still made some great progress....can't wait to get things going again tomorrow morning!

Best wishes & good luck as we get started!

Ernie

Hey Ernest! Looks like we're ready to go do this again.
My name is Colin and I did 2 rounds of X earlier this year. This time around I'm doing an X / Insanity hybrid.
Let's bring it and keep pushing play for 90 days.

The first day is in the books for me...burned more calories in this one (Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X "ARX") than I had expected! It felt good to hit the exercise mat again, but I can tell that I'm gonna have trouble brushing my teeth for a few days...my shoulders are toast! Best wishes for a great day!

I'm going to be following a P90X / Insanity hybrid schedule, so Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit is on deck for me tomorrow morning.

I added a 5K lunch run to my exercise today...it was just too perfect of a day to not go for a jog! That, plus Chest & Back + ARX this morning makes today a 1000+ calorie-burn day! Whoooooo hoooooooooo! I'm feeling great!

Best wishes!

I was planning on starting today anyway. Certainly can't hurt to have motivation from some people at the same place. I'm in!

Stormgolf, welcome! I look forward to hearing about your progress.
Ernie, a 1000 calorie burn day, looks like you found your groove already.
I did Chest and Back and ARX last night. Humbled. Man I regressed in my time off. Felt good to be at it again though. I'm a bit sore this morning but mobile. It'll only get better from here. Threw in a 3k dog walk too. I ate perfectly too, so overall it was a great day.
Doing my first Insanity workout tonight, methinks there is some sweat in my future.
KPP!

Mornin'! Insanity plyo metric circuit is in the books for today....I was wasted by the time the third set in the second half rolled around. The nice thing about the 1st month insanity workouts is they are only ~40 minutes long or so including the stretch and cool down. Good calorie burn....my goal this time around is to build strength, not lose weight. I've got my nutrition dialed in and am looking forward to the day! Best wishes to all!

Colin, I agree....felt good to do chest & back again, but man o man, I can feel the soreness today in my abs and shoulders....and it's goooooood!

I did a round of P90X a couple years back and made some good gains. At that time I was focused on bulking up. I put on 15 lbs throughout the 90 days, which was great. This time I am more focused on leaning out - don't necessarily want to lose weight, but definitely cut down the body fat %.

Accountablility post: Completed Chest and Back and AR last night. Plyo tonight. Pretty sore this morning, but that is what we signed up for.

Ernie, good job. I thought you were doing straight X for some reason.
Storm, way to stay accountable! And you've been through the program before so I now have high hopes for you.
I've gotten more sore throughout the day but nothing like the first time.
I forgot to post my goals.
1. Lose 8 pounds. I still haven't gotten a body fat measurement tool so I'll go with weight. Starting at 178.
2. Get Abs. emoticon
3. Increased flexibility.

Yeah, I had originally planned straight P90X, but since you were doing a hybrid I figured I would too. Wow, ow, ow...I'm *really* rickety today, but a good feeling in a twisted sort of way!

Did my first Insanity workout last night...man did it kick my ass. I did decent for the first two cycles but that last one wasted me pretty quickly, it was definitely a case of doing my best and forgetting the rest. I felt better when I saw some of the buff people dropping out. emoticon I'll do better next time. Super sore today. Can't wait to push play tonight. KPP.

emoticon Way to go, Colin! Insanity's a trip, isn't it?? I had to work late last night so didn't make it up in time for my regular scheduled workout time....will be playing catch up this evening with SHARMS + ARX.

Best wishes for a great day!

Insanity is way harder than I expected Ernie, I think it's going to be a challenge for sure, but I'm already looking forward to the next disc so I can atone for my first attempt. I don't like being defeated, it makes me angry and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry. emoticon
Started using my fitness pal to track my food intake, great tool. I was bang on with my cards and fat but fell waaaaayyy short on protein and calories, like 550 short. Gonna have to find a way to balance it out.
Sharms and ARX last night. Had a really great session overall but had to slacken off on ARX some due to muscle cramps. Plenty sore this morning but feeling good.
Yoga today and I can use the stretching for sure. Also have to put in a new kitchen faucet which should be fun considering I'm not feeling too flexible at the moment. emoticon
Best wishes for a great day. KPP!

RE: protein shortage...baked/grilled chicken & turkey is really great for boosting the numbers, as is whey (or egg) protein powder. I use a Foreman Grill just about every day for cooking chicken breasts, salmon fillets, or small beef tenderloin fillets. For a while during round 1, when I was on the "fat shredder" phase of the nutrition plan (50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fats), I was eating 6 boiled egg whites for my mid-morning snack and another 6 for the mid-afternoon snack...I got pretty sick of egg whites in a hurry; tried everything I could think of to make them more tasty. Since then, my protein needs have declined, but until just recently I continued to use whey powder in my Shakeology shakes to boost the daily protein numbers. Good luck as you work on balancing the macros...

I'm on myfitnesspal too...my username is erstrace there...if you add me as a friend/buddy/pal, whatever they call it there, you will be able to see my food diary; may provide some alternate ideas...

I'm really struggling to reestablish my schedule - hoping that my coming job change on October 1 will make things easier -- my schedule is still pretty hairy-scary for me right now, but I don't mean to use that as an excuse not to exercise...even so, until then, it looks like I'm still going to be somewhat hit-or-miss, and I'm gonna have to make peace with that. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Best wishes,
E

Tomorrow is legs & back and I think the next one from insanity that is in the hybrid sched is "cardio power and resistance"...it is no coincidence that it abbreviates to "CPR", because that's what you'll feel like you might need! It's an awesome workout, for sure and certain.

Best wishes!

Double accountability time! Yoga X yesterday and it sucked just as much as I remembered maybe more. Reduced me to jelly.
Legs and Back and ARX today. Felt great and pushed hard all the way through.
Got enough calories yesterday and almost nailed the percentages. A little more tweaking and I'll nail it.
Thanks for the tips Ernie!

Insanity CPR last night. Got through it pretty good, had to give myself a pep talk part way through though, I wasn't bringing it the way that I know that I can. Didn't help that my legs were so sore that I had a hard time squatting at first. Overall I am pleased with my effort. Stretch X tonight and not a moment too soon, my legs are aching, but I guess that means that I brought it!
Slowly dialing in my diet, I was over on my fat intake due to a miscommunication with my wife but it's all good.
I'm really liking my fitness pal,I think it's going to help me reach my goals.
KPP!
