Hope everyone is doing okay! Had an accident with my rice last night and burned half of it... I will blame that on my cooktop. I feel like all I do is work, cook, and sleep now. I work 9-630 or 7 most nights, and trying to plan ahead for all meals is tough. Just a heads up: For day 3, you need to prepare the lentils way ahead. I wish that they had tips before you started each week about what you had to plan ahead for!
I also realized something else that i missed... chocolate emoticon

Aww...sorry to hear about your burned rice, Sara. I seriously miss my morning coffee. lol..and chocolate sounds really good right now, too.
I slept like a rock last night. Probably the best I have slept since I was a baby. Amazing.
Took a sweater to work today which helps a lot! But I still have some body aches and muscle soreness. Hope that will pass soon because I feel like I got run over by a truck. lol
In other news, my hair looked a lot better today--healthier somehow. I hear about people's hair improving from drinking Shakeology, but I guess it only makes sense that this cleanse can help a lot too.

I agree that the meal preparation and scheduling the supplements regiment is very time consuming. Thanks for the tip about the lentils btw. :-)

Hi All,

I am still at it and on Day 5. I am still a little headachy and tired but I am feeling better. I do seem to have a better sense of calm now than I did a few days ago. The thing that is really still kicking my butt is the food preparation. I seem to be spending 2-3 hours a night just cooking, which is time I can barely spare. Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of next week is going to be really tough I have training class in San Jose, which means an additional 3-4 hours of commuting. I will have to do all my meal prep on Sunday if I can. I am glad this programs does not have workouts on top of everything else or I would never get it done.

Well, enough complaining.

On the upside I do like the food and I am enjoying learning how to cook it. Also, being on the Reset has made me feel calmer. Yesterday I had a bunch of bad things come down one right after the other. Normally I would have blown a gasket, but I was basically able to take it all in stride.

So keep at it my friends.

Cheers all!

Wow, that is awesome, exerlious! Maybe you just did not have enough energy to blow up. lol But seriously, being able to stay calm is most definitely a fantastic side effect. ;-)
I keep having this massive headache which makes it hard to focus or be productive. I'm pretty sure that I am drinking enough water, so I have no idea what is causing this.

What is your favorite meal of the day? For me it's dinner. Always feel a million times better after dinner.

On to Day 3 for me. emoticon Stay strong, boys and girls! ;-)

Third time/day must be the charm, eh?! Today I feel a million times better. Body aches and headaches are completely gone and not even the alkanize stuff tasted bad anymore. My taste buds have been reprogrammed altogether. Everything taste so much better now and the flavors are much more intense. Has anyone else experienced this?? It really seems like with all the garbage scrubbed off our system our senses are working so much better. Can't wait to see how much more my body functions will improve. This is one fantastic tune-up! ;-)

I agree, third day was pretty good! I haven't minded the Alkaline stuff... I can pretty much eat anything in the world, I am not picky at all. I was hungrier than usual today since I just had the fruit and yogurt and not eggs or oatmeal. I'm glad that it's almost the weekend and I can prepare more meals in advance.
I made it through a social event with just water and lemon, so that is my success so far! over half way through the first stage emoticon

Hi Team!

Day 6- My Root Medley is cooking in the oven and smells great. I had a little chef's taste of the zucchini cashew soup and it is pretty sweet too. So far so good. I have been told week 2 is the hardest because of all the toxins ones body releases. This will be particularly challenging for me since I have to out for training. This is the hardest Beach Body program yet, fun the thing that keeps me going are the silly recipes. I like learning and trying new things, so I am a happy camper!

Astrid-Dinner is favorite meal, I am always so hungry! My favorite dishes so far are the Salmon and the Nori Rolls.

Sara-Glad to hear you are doing well. Keep it up.

Week 2 Looking forward-I made simple spread sheet of repeat dishes for weeks 2 & 3 so that I can make as much ahead of time as I can. It is nothing special but I thought I would share.

Wow, that spreadsheet is a fantastic idea! Thank you so much for sharing it, exerlious!
For me it's Day 4 today and I honestly feel great. One significant change I have noticed is that I am not bloated anymore. Makes a big difference in how my clothes fit. :-)
I also enjoy the cooking experience and learning how to make new dishes. I think once we get used to planning ahead like Sara and exerlious have been doing, eating healthy won't be as much of a challenge anymore.
The other thing I noticed is that I sleep much better and longer now.
What kind of changes have you guys noticed??
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! :-)

Hi All,

Astrid- I am glad you are enjoying the cooking experience so am I. I really feel like I am learning recipes I and my family can enjoy for years to come. Also, stepping out side of my food comfort zone into a diet that is meat and alcohol free is interesting indeed. I am glad you enjoyed the spread sheet if you add anything to it please share. I think it is neat when a simple document like that can be shared with and grow with a group.

Day 7- Today was another though one. Saturdays are my day to relax and indulge. I sit around drink a pot of coffee have a nice breakfast, then in the evenings I go out have some dinner hit the pub. Not so today! I did my regimen, went shopping for next week (Trader Joe's, the Japanese market, Save Mart and Safeway). Then I came home to work on dinner. To night was baked Tempeh. It is great! Just a fore warning, it needs to marinade for at least an hour before you cook it so give yourself some time to prepare it ahead.

Health wise I was good today. I was hungry in the afternoon until dinner time but that is common for me. My only fear with getting hungry though is that I get tempted to go of the plan. The hungrier I get the more tempting it is. So I have to stay focused and strong. I have also noticed (like Astrid) that I am not nearly as bloated as I was a few days ago.

Looking Ahead After Week - Have any of you given any thought to your post reset weeks nutrition? I am curious because I don't really know what to do. I keep fantasizing about and steak and potato fest, but I know that will probably make me sick and reverse my progress. What about exercise during week 4? Can we jump right into a new program? I am totally Jonse'en to try out Body Beast. Just some thoughts as we look ahead.

Cheers all!

Exerlious, kudos to you for staying strong. ;-)
As for the post-reset nutrition, we will have to adjust it to our physical activity. So if you decide to do Body Beast you will have to eat accordingly and follow the Body Beast meal plan.
Indulging in steak and alcohol occasionally is fine, too. Life is all about balance.
Did you know that we can continue to take some of the supplements post-reset? That would help our bodies stay more optimized and that way we would not completely reverse the progress after completion of the cleanse.
I feel so much better now that I don't see myself going back to my bad old habits.
Yesterday at the grocery store, I was pleasantly surprised when my total was almost half of my usual bill although I bought some of that organic stuff at Sweetbay. Did you notice that portion control with the UR makes a big difference in how much food we actually consume? I am pretty sure I eat half as much as I used to and much more healthier stuff, too, of course.
The initial investment in different products made it seem like this is a more expensive nutrition regimen, but it turns out that it actually ends up being cheaper because we need less of it to feel full. At least that's my personal impression.
Btw, exerlious, men are allowed to add a snack in the afternoon. It just sets your dinner time back by another 30 minutes.
I am definitely sleeping a lot more now. Has anyone else made this experience?
Report Post Report Post
?
I didn't know if the snack was for all or just men, since it says optional and they let men have more food at each meal.
Since today is Sunday, I am going to use today to prepare or cook ahead as much as possible! Specifically the rice, quinoa, etc. I definitely feel less bloated, but haven't really noticed my clothes fitting differently. Maybe this will happen with the detox packets I start Tuesday!
I like to have an early bedtime because i usually workout in the mornings, but I still go to bed early and I am sleeping longer than usual now... Its awesome.

What I like most is that the portions seem larger than what I have eaten in the past, but its healthy food and not as compact if that makes sense. I like this "volume eating" of greens and veggies.

I have issues with the alkaline powder now... do yall have to stir it for a while to let it all dissolve? When I have it at my desk at work, sometimes i have to stir with my finger... gross.
Report Post Report Post
?
You are absolutely right, Sara! The snacks are for everyone and men can generally add a little extra to each meal.
Exerlious--I just found a section on post-reset nutrition in the program guide on page 107. It explains which foods can re-introduced each week and how much exercise is ok.
We can continue to take all supplements except the detox powder.
It says we should avoid eating animal products until week 3 after completing the cleanse.
The following stuff should be completely avoided for 4 weeks after the cleanse:
  • artificial sweeteners
  • coffee/caffeine
  • soda/diet soda
  • tobacco
  • alcohol

I am a little shocked about eliminating coffee for so long as I really like it. But I am willing to give it a try. :-)

And Sara, what temperature is the water when you put Alkanize in there? I use cold water and it works ok, but I do have stir a while. Let us know how the detox powder will work for you.

Thank God it's Sunday, because I was so tired I had to take a nap (which I usually NEVER do!). I still feel groggy like I swallowed a sleeping pill. Weird.
Have a great week, everyone!! :-)

Sara-Way to go on cooking ahead! Personally I spent all day working in the kitchen getting ready for my 3 day class. it is 7pm and I still have not had time to eat dinner. I hate late meals but I got a late start today.

Astrid-Thanks for the information on the post reset diet. I will read up on it more myself and see what I can do to follow it closely. As for the cost, I don't know it seems like my grocery bill has gone up, but that is just me. I am glad it is working out for you.

Week 2 Day 1-I was so focused on getting my meals prepared that forgot to add in the Detox supplement. So I am one dose off for the day, oops. I will keep plugging away. Tomorrow will be the challenge when have a 100 mile commute and spend all day in training. Hopefully it will go well.

Take care ladies.

Cheers!

Sounds like you will have your work cut out for yourself, exerlious. I can only imagine how tough it must be to do the reset under those conditions. Kudos to you for hanging in there.

Sara, I was wondering if you still have those body temperature issues? I think mine is getting better, but occasionally I still feel like a popsickle. It seems like either my metabolism is slowing down tremendously or there is some heavy clean up action going on inside my system. ;-)

On another note, the baked tempeh for breakfast was interesting. How did you like it? It's strangely filling. I was satisfied after only one strip. Were you able to eat all 4?

Have a great Monday everyone! :-)

9/24/12 11:18 AM as a reply to CoachAstrid.
I still get cold at the office, but I think it is a combination of my office and the reset. I am still getting headaches... worse in the past 2 days. I am drinking as much water as I can, I think that it is another symptom of caffeine withdrawal. I had a cup of green tea a few times last week, so i will try that this afternoon when I get cold emoticon

I loved the tempeh for breakfast! I am a big fan of hearty breakfast. Today's breakfast I think is my favorite so far... oatmeal, yogurt, some apple, cinnamon, and a little bit of maple syrup. I am sad that the yogurt portion is done emoticon

yay for completing my first week! lost some weight, but definitely feeling less bloated- so far so good.

except..... I AM HUNGRY after this fruit for breakfast. I have always had some kind of protein for breakfast in the past, whether it is almond butter in my oatmeal or greek yogurt. Now it's only 9:30 and I have 2 1/2 hours until lunch and my belly is growling... might have to have some tea and chug water to keep it quiet. not good...

Good for you, Sara! Let us know how you that detox powder works for you.
I am on Day 7 and feeling pretty good. Excited to start the detox phase tomorrow. :-)
I still feel incredibly tired at the end of the day and sleep like a took a sleeping pill. Curious how things will change when my body goes through the actual detox.
But I can definitely see some positive changes in my appearance at the end of phase one:

Overall I think I look healthier, and my complexion and hair seem to look better. Also, the dark circles underneath my eyes are greatly diminished. I guess my body does need that sleep. ;-)
I hope exerlious can stick to his meal plan in spite of his training and long commute this week.
Have a great day, peeps!

LOVE the wine glass to drink the alkalinize in emoticon I don't have close ups of my face, but between this diet and my new clarisonic brush, my skin looks very good. Haven't seen anything in my hair yet...

Detox is great, I have had senna tea before and worried that this powder might be similar, but it is very gentle. I looked ahead at the meal plan, and I cannot find that Kambocha Squash ANYWHERE! Do y'all know of a good substitute? Should I use butternut squash?

Good luck this week exerlious, Scheduling this reset is an even bigger commitment than I initially thought, but after reaching week 1 successfully I will make it through the final 2 stages!

Ok, so the first day of phase 2 was pretty rough for me. I felt really cold and depressed all day and even suffered from body aches again. lol...it was weird because I am really a very positive person. Anyway, doing MUCH better today and even did 30 minutes of pilates which felt soooo good.

Are you guys stretching or doing yoga/pilates? I highly recommend it!

As fas as the meal plan goes, I have no complaints. But, man, I am really missing my morning cup of Joe.

That's it for now. Let me know how you guys are doing, please! Have a blessed day! :-)
