Starting Oct. 1 Become a P90X grad!!! Newbies/ Beginners welcome!
shape lifestyle cravings excuse challenges agility contests food program pointers workout time pay it forward
9/29/12 2:52 AM
The first few times I tried P90x I quit. Finally I made it through but didnt stay working out or eating proper. I would eat all the time whatever I wanted. I always found an excuse to not finish or to not stay with the food program. Kids, work, house work I'll workout harder tomorrow, I'll do extra cardio etc...

90 days ago I found a way to stay accountable, I joined a group. Now 90 days later I am in much better shape! Even better tahn when I was putting in 3+ hours at the gym alone. My speed and agility have improved. I no longer have those cravings, that would derail my progress.

I want to pay it forward and help others achieve what SO MANY have!!

I am into a lifestyle that I can manage, and sustain. I am ready to see what this new me can really do at 40! I want YOU to join me!

POINTERS TO GETTING STARTED RIGHT:
1. Get the mind set!
2. Schedule workout time and stick with your schedule.
3. Set your goal (lose weight, tone add weight etc...)
4. KNOW your calorie goal. (this is KEY!)
5. KNOW that I am here for support and to answer questions. I have a lot of knowledge
to share. I am also not afraid to say "I dont have the best answer Let me ask some
other people that have more knowledge."
6. Make sure it is FUN!!! We will have different challenges here and maybe some
contests!!

I started P90X Lean 2 weeks ago - do you mind if I join? Prior to that, I completed the 12 weeks of ChaLean Extreme for the first time. I plan on doing the same with Tony! I've started and stopped both programs several times in the past, as with you Garry, but this time I've got the motivation and the determination. I've already proved that by finishing CLX with no missed days! So far on P90X, I've not missed a workout either.

I'm moving in the next month or two, so there will be some travel and other days when I know I will miss, but I'll keep those to a minimum.

Awesome job, not missing! The first week or two are notoriously the hardest! The more the merrier I say, the more people we have the more accountability we can share. Maybe get some workout buddies or accountability buddies set up! This is an awesome opportunity for so many!

Count me in, just finishing my second round of insanity today, fit test just to do. I've shifted 2 stone in weight and my fitness is really up but I'm still a bit soft lol

Hoping p90x will help out there. Determined to stick with a clean diet too.

Looking forward to being here :-D

CarlBryant85 welcome aboard! An intense cardio program like INSANITY is a beast I completed a round two weeks ago. My cardio is amazing and I lost around 44 lbs, but I did start with P90X as I was involved in a FaceBook Challenge Group.

Awesome! Welcome and CONGRADULATIONS to all of us for taking a step to taking care of ourselves, and inspiring others.

Yesterday I put the meal plan together. The wife and I went shopping and today I will get my food prepared for the week, except the dinners. It is important that we have a hot meal together as a family. I am a father of a 12 year old girl who runs cross country and is involved with some accelerated academics. My 16 month old son has learned how to open everything and is currently experimnenting with how many places crayons can be hidden. He also enjoysknee tackles, food tossing and is the perfect height to smack areas that I so wish he wouldn't.

So who knows their daily calorie goal? If your using the program meal planner which level? if your not sure of either I can help with that to make sure we are off on the right foot!

Great Job! As far as the calories go I use the BeachBody meal plan calculator it is more accurate than the P90X guide book formula for setting your goal.

For some reason when we are posting it says we dont have permission, yet the post shows up anyways. I must have loaded something about 12 times then realized it was accepting. I had to go back and delete everything. emoticon Oh well! live and learn. I am sure TBB will get it straightened out!

Thanks! I tend to be busy during the week. I work 7am-4pm; teach martial arts 3 nights a week. have 2 kids one of which is active in sports almost year round. But I stay committed to my BB customers, my challenge groups and this message board group. So packing meals ahead of time frees me up to be able to do all that!!!

Shakeology, simply is the healthiest meal of the day! It is Beachbody product and comes in 4 flavors: Chocolate, Greenberry, VEGAN Chocolate and VEGAN Tropical Strawberry. I t is an AMAZING MRP that mixes easily and well with alot of things.

I give samples to all my customers to try before they buy!

Its good you watch calories, but what is the macro break down? Phase 1 for P90X has a breakdown of 50/30/20 meaning, because it’s the "fat shredder" phase 50% of your calorie goal should be protein. 30% should be carbs and 20% from fat. Remember 1 gram of protein or carbs is equal to 4 calories while fat packs 9 calories per gram.

What I would do would be to figure out my calorie goal with the meal planner wizard, and maybe use the block system in the nutrition guide. That shouldn’t require a lot of work. If you have an IPhone you can hook up with the P90X app to help with keeping track. I know they have a similiar android app as well.

What is really nice about the block system is the Results and Recovery is figured in already so you don’t have to adjust your calorie goal. I used to forget that all the time and its a few calories that your body DESPERERATELY needs after you tear it down in the workouts! Basically after intense workouts your body is glycogen deficient. Give a long enough time (after about an hour) the body starts to tear down muscle to maintain glycogen levels (gluconeogenesis). R/R prevents this by providing glycogen back to the muscle. The suggested serving is 2 scoops that generally work great for guys, women can get by with a single scoop.

Day 1 chest and back with Ab ripper X complete. I drank my Energy and Endurance as I was leaving work. I had worked almost 12 hours. I BLASTED thru and felt great, beat but great. I know I would not have been able to complete it without that little extra! After the mother of all P90X workouts I rewarded myself with some results and recovery. I just finished dinner now with 8 oz. of chicken breast and a small sweet potato.

What's going on with all of you? How was your day? Your workout? What was your dinner?

Was in the work gym at 5am for chest and back today. Swapped it and plyo as doing the muscle building routines where ive access to full range of db's etc makes sense.

Eating so much feels quite alien, ive stupidly been living on around 1000 dodgy calories a day, so eating 2600 is hard work.

Getting there though, so far had

Pre workout protein bar
Post workout shake

Porridge / honey / banana for breakfast

Chicken breast, wholemeal pasta, and salad for snack

Probably have omelette with chicken for lunch

Well, I failed at yogax, didnt even get past 20mins before i turned it off, feel horrible about it today. Keep telling myself it wont happen again. I eat whatever my family has for dinner, it is too exspensive to have a different meal than them...congrats to everyone else for doing so well, sorry that i am the weak link in the chain in this group. emoticon
I have an Iphone, i use myfitnesspal, and have no idea about the breakdown you are talking about. I dont have the p90x app because i thought it wants you to pay twice for the workouts that you have already bought? Confused. Thanks all!
