I'm doing Les Mills Combat right now, but if you are doing something else, thats fine too. I think the biggest factor in my success with these programs has been getting involved in a message board like this. That’s why I started this thread.

Are you looking for accountability, motivation, and information?

Are you ready to bring it for the next 60 days?!

Are you looking for a coach that will be responsive and dedicated?

If so, then you’ve found the right thread. Giddy Up!!!!

For anyone that’s new, welcome to the thread and thanks for joining!!! We’ll keep you motivated, accountable, and energized.

One thing that I really, really want you to do its to post your accountability every day. This includes at least quick note on your workout(s) and nutrition for the day. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KEEPING YOU MOTIVATED. Trust me on this and just commit to doing it for at least the first week.

It would be great if you could also do a few things to help us get to know you a little better:
1) Upload a profile picture. This is in your TeamBeachbody.com profile.
2) Sign your post with your real name
3) Tell us who you are
4) Tell us why are you doing this workout program and join this thread
5) What do you hope to get out of this round?

Please add me as a buddy so I can send you some more information to help you get started.

For newbies and returning members, PLEASE welcome people to the thread as they join. This is a key to getting them motivated and ramped up quickly. I appreciate you doing this.

OK…Here are some initial tips to help you get going …

Keep Track:
- Do the fit test. You will glad you did and sorry if you don’t. You will get really motivated by seeing progress. It will also create accountability.
- TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES. I know it may be embarrassing or might feel uncomfortable. You will be sorry if you don’t do it anyway. Do it every 30 days
- Take your measurements every 30 days and especially at the start
- Write down all your exercises, reps, and notes. The programs come with worksheets to do this. Use them!!! Again, its extremely motivating to see your progress and it inspires you to do better each workout. Its important!

The TeamBeachbody web site has a bunch of great tools to help with this. Take advantage of them! Enter all the info above in your profile and it will track it for you.

I also recommend MyFitnessPal for managing and tracking your calorie intake. There a web page and mobile app for iPhone, Andriod, and Blackberry. Sign up and add me as a buddy. My ID is tabner2012. Then you can see my food and exercise diary. That may give you some ideas for your daily menus.

Nutrition: There’s a quote taped on my refrigerator that says “Why work so hard in the gym to waste it on a bad diet”. It’s the truth. You won’t get great results with a bad diet. I can help you with as much detail as you want. For now I’ll say:

- Check your program’s nutrition guide for the ratio of macros (Carbs/protein/fat). I stick with a 40/40/20 split
- Stay away from sugars as much as you can
- The fewer ingredients the better. Keep refined and processed food to a minimum
- Eat 5-6 times per day
- Drink lots, and lots, and lots of WATER
- Make sure you know roughly how many calories you need each day and be sure to get them. If you don’t have the fuel you need you will struggle with the workouts and lose motivation. The amount you need will change depending on your activity level each day. Make sure you get enough. Not eating enough is a common mistake that leads to bad results. BTW…MyFitnessPal makes adjustments for you automatically.
- Shakeology is a great way to get a ton of nutrition in one meal. You would have to eat a whole lot of veggies and fruit to get what one shake gives you. It also has plenty of protein. You can use it as a snack or meal replacement (low calorie). I have one every day and consider it a replacement for a muti-vitamin.

Pre-Workout: The workouts are intense. Don’t eat any less than an hour before your workout. I recommend a pre-workout snack/supplement of some sort before you work out. I like to use a formula/supplement designed specifically for pre-workout boost. The do make a difference

Post-Workout: Its extrememly important to have a recovery drink within 20 minutes after your workout. This is CRITICAL. You need to replace the glycogen you burned up, prevent muscle breakdown, and start the recovery process immediately after a workout. There’s a ton of science supporting this. There are a few options. The P90X Resulst and Recovery is great and I recommend it.

Accountability: As I said in the second post of this thread, post your accountability on this thread DAILY! This is absolutely key to keeping you motivated and consistent. You’ll meet others that are going through exactly what you are and it helps stay accountable and inspired! Your forum buddies will have tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well. You will be doing the same in no time!

So, ready to get started? First step, post your commitment to join the team, and second, add me as a buddy and I'll give you more important information. I can drill into any of the stuff above in more detail. I really want to help people succeed and look forward to getting to know you and seeing the new you!

GET UP AND BRING IT!!

Hi Tom!

Great intro and tips you got. I'm gonna have to remember that. I'm currently on week three of Insanity and in round 2. Love the results I'm getting and looking at rejoining Chalene and her crew in TurboFire. Need to a change of scenery.

Rich & Jen - Where ya at? I need a post from you today.

Accountability: Today is a well needed rest day. I did bang out 32 push ups while waiting for my wife to go somewhere today. I'm going to do P90X Stretch after the kids go to bed though. I'm feeling good and rested now though. I'm ready to tear up Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs tomorrow. I'll probably do P90X Chest, Shldrs, & Tris tomorrow PM.

Nutrition: Today my timing was weird because we were out and about, but I stuck to it. My wife packed me a lunch to take with me along with a protein bar. I had some AWESOME Maryland Blue Crabs for dinner. Yeeeeeah! Lots of protein. Its all in MFP.

OK...side challenge...do 20 pushups every tie your favorite NFL team scores. I'm doing it.

Just got back from the store had to buy all the skinless chicken breasts Publix had $2.99lb. On a serious note needed to get some clean food for the first week of the "nutritional rehabilitation plan or as others call it a detox or maybe a diet"

Well I picked the Jets....

I plan to work on balancing my diet out and getting ready for the workouts. I will need to do a 2 week clean of my diet and ease into my workouts since I haven't been doing much activity.

Beast Day 3 - Back and Biceps.

Wow. I can do a lot of pull-ups but super-set them with other back exercises and, well, um, not so much. My weights were good on all my back work but biceps I was all over the place. Too lite for one exercise and too heavy for the next. Learning phase I guess.

Speaking of biceps. I'm used to X and X2 where you go back and forth with back/biceps. After pre-fatiguing the biceps doing back, the biceps were fried.

Loving this so far. Tomorrow is Diamond day (Shoulders). I love that Beast has a day just for shoulders. Strong cantaloupe shaped shoulders are the cherry on top of a great shaped body.

After tomorrow I will be off for three days camping at the beach. I'll run all three and return to Day 1 Beast when I return.

I'm starting my insanity 60 day challenge tomorrow (october 1st) as well. I'll be checking this thread everyday! I mostly want to lose weight even though i'm not in bad shape, I just want to look my best before 2013, not after it!

DanM31, NewCarlo, artx3 - Welcome to the thread!!! Thanks for joining us and congratulations on your decison to bring it for the next 60 days. You've found a good group of people and we're all dedicated to each other's success.

Please check out the stuff in the second postt in this thread, Its important that we all post every day and interact with each other. Thats whats goona keep all of us going and get us through the rough patches. I'll send each of you a welcome note later to give you the link to our group facebook thread and other stuff like that. I gotta go get my work out done right now.

Everyone - If you are stating today... knock out your Fit Tests today. The most important thing is that you maintain proper form. Breaking form is when you get hurt...and people do. It doesn't count as a rep if you break form anyway. I also recommend that you get some good cross training shoes. You're going to be doing a bunch of jumping and lateral movement. Nike Free Trainiers are awesome. I have the v5s and love them. Lastly, make sure you do some kind of recovery drink or shake right after your workouts. That will rally make a difference in your recovery by minimizing glycogen depletion and muscle break down. It really makes a difference. If nothing else, have a small meal right after the workout that has some high glycimic carbs (good sugars) and some protein.

You'll find that you look forward to the later Fit Tests because you know you'll do better and see real progress.

Dig Deep and Bring it!!

Hey Team - I hope everyone is having an awesome day. For those that started Insanity today, I want to hear about it. Please post!

You each should have received a buddy request from me. Please add me as a buddy so I can sent you a direct message with more information about the group, our Facebook group page, etc. You can't send direct messages to other TBB members unless they are your buddy.

Accountability (so far): Day 22 of Insanity for me. You're not going top believe this, but I did the wrong workout this AM. I did Plyo Circuit instead of Pure Cardio. Oh well. I realized it when Cardio Abs didn't start after the first workout. So at least I still got cardio Abs in. I burned 872 calories doing them. I'm gonna do P90X Chest & Back later. I feel good today!!!!

Nutrition: Great so far. Its all in MFP (MyFitnessPal).
