Jenelle Summers Hybrid Chalean Extreme and Turbofire - October 15

Hi all!

I have a week and a half left of Chalean Extreme and am setting up my next plan of attack. I've decided on doing a CLX/TF hybrid and I've heard good things about the 12-week one that Jenelle Summers (Chalene's sister) set up.

Is anyone doing this now or starting in the next couple weeks? I think I will start on October 15th, but might build in a rest week and start on the 22nd instead.

I can start on the 23rd. I will be out of the country for a medical mission trip from October 13-20th and need a couple of days to recover. Count me in if that is ok!
Thanks,
Heather

Awesome!! Have you done CLX or TF before? I have previewed a few TF videos (after a google search everyone said Fire 45 was their favorite so I've done that a couple times, plus a couple of the HIITs).

With CLX I'm excited to start a second round! I got adjustable weights at the beginning of the second month but am anxious to see how much heavier I can go in the Burn circuits now that I have them (before I only had 5 and 10lb hand weights).

Bumping this as I'm hoping to start either next week or the one right after. Anyone else? emoticon

I was going to start a les mills pump/turbo fire hybrid...just finished a round of chalean extreme myself.

I went to a PUMP class with my friend the other day and loved it, so I am going to give it a try. It's only 3-4 days a week, so I figure a hybrid with TF would be good.

Love Love Love Turbo Fire!

Sounds good! I keep seeing Les Mills's name but don't know anything about the program. Maybe I will check it out and get some info. I've got 5 days of CLX left! Excited but also nervous to be adding in TF. I've done a few of the videos from TF and liked them a lot. Will definitely like them better when I get the moves down and am not as lost when she changes moves.

Have you set up a TurboFire/Les Mills Pump hybrid?? I am finishing LMP in a couple weeks and am debating on doing an INSANITY or Turbo hybrid with it...

Thank you - Mandy

Mandy-

No, I haven't set a true hybrid up yet.

This is my first time doing Les Mills PUMP, so I was going to follow the PUMP schedule and on the days marked "walk" do a TF workout following the TF schedule (so the first week, I will add in Fire 30, HIIT 15 and Fire 30). On the PUMP days marked just "flow," I am going to add Core 20. And I will probably just omit Sculpt and Tone 30 for now.

So week 1 will look like this:
pump challenge, fire 30, pump challenge, flow & core 20, pump challenge, hard core abs & HIIT15, fire 30
week 2 will be:
pump&burn, fire 45, pump challenge & hard core abs, flow & core 20, pump&burn, HIIT 20, fire 55
week 3 will be:
pump&burn, hard core abs & HIIT 15, pump&burn, flow & hard core abs, fire 45, pump&burn, hard core abs & HIIT 20

My priority is PUMP. I usually can get 4-5 days of working out a week, but that 6th and 7th day is sometimes hard for me, so I will see how this goes for a few weeks. I never schedule a rest day - at least 1 rest day happens each week without having it scheduled in. (Monday is almost always a rest day - I snooze the alarm too much on Mondays!) I just pick up where I left off the next day.

Anyway, that's my plan.

I'll add that I hate cardio, but I love weightlifting. I just finished another round of Chalean Extreme so I am a little cardio-starved at the moment. I've been doing Turbo Fire until my PUMP comes in the mail emoticon

Not gonna lie - Insanity was rough for me. I made it 6 weeks. I got through the 1st week of month 2 and I just ran out of motivation to push play. I was able to do the workouts and loved when I finished a workout but getting started that morning was tough.

I have friends that love Insanity - and I envy them for it!

I like Turbo Fire because of the music and have found I will push play if I start singing a song in that days workout before hand...so I trick myself "you are not going to do cardio, you're going to listen to 'boom boom I got your boyfriend.'"

How did you like PUMP?

yinbin, when are you planning on starting?

I have 3 days left of CLX! Eep. Still undecided on whether I should take a week off or jump right in.

I hope I can handle Chalene's hyper cheeriness in the early morning! She seems slightly less perky in CLX so that's been fine.

Alright I'm going to post here and hopefully y'all will continue posting and maybe some new people will come along! I finished up CLX yesterday and went straight into the hybrid this morning (woke up sore, so I'm sure tomorrow will be fun).

Burn Circuit 1 and Fire 30 in the books! This was my first look at Fire 30 and I was a little lost a couple times, but nothing major, and that music (and Chalene) was really helpful in keeping me going so I didn't think about how tired I was.

I feel accomplished! I'm used to Day 2 being a rest day, so seeing Fire 55 EZ on there for tomorrow is a little intimidating.

Hi- just got back in town from a wedding. I did Turbo Fire every morning YAY! I came back yesterday to find PUMP on my doorstep, so today will be day 1 - PUMP basics and challenge. Here goes nothing! (I read all the material last night- it looks pretty legit)

Cookie - I cannot stress to you - "New to Class" is awesome! It helps soo much. It took me about 3 weeks to get the hang of things. When in doubt, just keep moving emoticon

And, Fire 55 is no joke - tough tough tough! But, it has my favorite finale emoticon "Whose house? My house!"

Nice job staying dedicated when out of town!

I will have to check out New to Class! I think I have been figuring out the moves, but transitioning from one to the other has been a little rough.

I also feel like an idiot trying to "Pump it" and "House it" and EVERY.SINGLE.TIME, that is the moment my boyfriend comes out and can see me working out. Oy.

Part of the process I guess emoticon Good luck with PUMP! That's barbells, right? Looks interesting but I have dumbbells and am not sure those would work. Equipment is already taking over my apartment!

"New to Class" is about 10 min longer than the normal workout. She takes about 1-2 min just breaking down the choreography for the upcoming songs. In the regular workouts, this part is just edited out, and it moves from 1 song to the next. It's helpful for the fire drills too. Not to mention you get to catch your breathe.

I have a rule with my boyfriend - you laugh at me working out, you do it with me! He tried a fire drill once and almost passed out. Now he laughs at the songs with me, but he has a little more appreciation for how hard it is emoticon
I will "pump it" no problem, but for some reason, I just can't "bust a move" during the warm-up. I think it is because I am not in the groove yet or something - oh well!

Yes PUMP has the barbell - it comes with the dvd set. It's a special barbell designed for PUMP because you move it quickly, change weight plates fast, and do a lot of reps. The deluxe set comes with the workout step, but I didn't get that...yet!

I did PUMP basics and Pump Challenge today. I have taken some classes with the barbell so I am familiar with it. The schedule says to do Pump Challenge for the next 2 weeks, but I thought Challenge was a little too basic for me (I just came off CE, so I'm pretty strong right now) And it's only 20 min. I previewed Pump and Burn today - It's just over 30min.

So I think I will start with week 3 of the schedule with Pump and Burn and go from there.

Hey, I won't be starting the CLX/TF hybrid until after Christmas. I am on my 12th week of TF of the 20 week program, so I'll be able to mix the 2 programs starting 12/31 (I'm asking for CLX for Christmas). So, I won't be joining you for a bit. But, I wanted to thank you for the alternative hybrid schedule. I prefer it to the original hybrid schedule. Good luck with the hybrid!

ok, day 2 of my hybrid -

I did TF Core 20 today. I haven't done an ab workout in about a month and OMG I could definitely tell! I will be making an ab workout a priority each week from now on.

I also did Pump's Flow. It's a 20min yoga/stretching workout. I realized how much I miss yoga and how un-flexible I have become, so Flow will be done each week for sure!

Last night I took my measurements - in 6 months I have gained 15lbs but I lost 3 inches in each arm, 2 inches from my waist,
1 inch from my hips and 2 inches from my chest. (In those 6 months, I did 6 weeks of Insanity, fell of off the wagon for about 1 month, 6 weeks of CE, fell off the wagon for a month and have been doing Turbo Fire pretty religiously for the last several weeks).
So,on the positive, I have gained a ton of muscle. I look better. I am firmer and less jiggly. The negative - I gained weight and am still not down a pant size emoticon But, I can feel it in my body that I am soo very very close....

So, my PUMP/Turbo Fire goal = get down 1 pant size!!!!

I eat healthy but I know my portions are way off, so I will be focusing on portion control these next few months.

Wow great job setting goals! I have a number in mind as a goal, but it's still 25 pounds away, so I need to come up with a better goal for the near future. Down a pant size is a good one. I need to take my "final" pictures from my round of CLX as well, but haven't had the chance to do that. I didn't take my "before" ones til a few weeks in anyway! Oops! I know my body has changed, based on how my clothes fit (I only have 2 pairs of work pants that still fit! Really need to go shopping...), though I don't see much in the mirror. Maybe staring at pictures will show something.

Core 20 is on my calendar for tomorrow after Fire 45 EZ. I am going to be doing the new to class option, so hopefully that doesn't make it TOO much longer than 45 min since Core 20 is after that. In general I don't like ab workouts because my core is so weak, but this one is (mostly?) standing up with resistance bands, right? I think I will like that better than crunches, which just make me feel pathetic.

Today was day 3 for me. I did Burn 1, which I also did on day 1. I burned a good deal more calories this go-round though, so I am proud of that. I'm pretty excited for some cardio tomorrow!

checking in: yesterday I did pump and burn again. I increased my weights by 3lbs- it was much more difficult to get through the workout, but I am only mildly sore today, so I might go up in weights again next time.
Today I was supposed to do cardio for 45min and hard core abs, but I only did hard core abs. However, I got my boyfriend to do it with me (he's just getting back into working out and way out of shape, so he's very frustrated). It was tough, but I was amazed how strong I was during the plank series. Thanks Chalean!

Tomorrow I am doing Turbo Fire - no excuses!
