insanity motivation accountability support running 10k race les mills pump

I decided to commit myself to a 5 mile race on October 27th which really shouldn't be that big of a deal, but I have this phobia of running. It's like, this teenage girl who suffers from asthma still exists inside my head, even though I don't even have asthma anymore, thanks to HIIT workouts.

To deal with my fear, I decided to start Insanity on October 1st. I've had this workout forever and I've gotten through the first 2 weeks many times and then just quit. It's become just a collection of DVD's that gathers dust in my rec room that I occasionally pull from when I feel like I need to use to punish myself for eating badly.

Well, not anymore. I'm going to do the whole dang 63 days. I am going to sub a few Pump workouts here and there because I feel like I need some resistance and I need to do this in a way that will keep me sticking to the 2 months. Adding in Pump takes some of the pressure off in my mind.

So, if you've recently started Insanity or plan on starting pretty soon, please join in and let's keep each other motivated and on track! I really don't want to let myself give up this time a round and I'm happy to work to keep you on track too!

I'm on the last week of the first month and love it...
it gives you recovery in the middle of the week and a rest day..can't ask for more!!!..it's perfect..however I find it somewhat intense too ..you still sweat...have two more left to finish and then the rest day emoticon
and will follow the calendar...stay focused..you can do it...as I am working out at each section ...when you can't no more...just say...just a little bit more to go..and that's how I get to finish it...already lost 7 pounds ...some body definition..I am 5'2 and before stating was at 140lbs...38 years old..didn't follow the diet..since I've never dieted before in my life...but maybe will do in the 2nd month....I feel slimmer and stronger..now am 133lbs..and with muscles..muscles is heavier than fat..so probably I lost more body fat..emoticon good luck and stay focused!

Thanks Cawini and congrats on your 7 lb weight loss - that's awesome and very inspiring!

I messed up the schedule and accidentally doubled up the Fit Test and Plyo Cardio Circuit on Monday, so instead of doing what would be Cardio Recovery today, I'm going to do that tomorrow and go for a run today instead. I haven't ran in a long time so I figure I should work in a couple of runs here and there in the week so my body can get used to what that feels like. I am excited to do Cardio Recovery tomorrow, though. That is actually one of my favorite recovery workouts.

Good grief, my legs and butt are sore from Cardio Power and Resistance!

Hi My name is Dawn. I am a 48yo nurse, who works night shift. According to the doctor's scale, I have gained 8 lbs in 2 weeks that I have been doing Insanity. I am afraid to get on my scale, but my pants show I am thinner, so next week I am going to measure and weight.
It is hard to eat right on nights and also hard to get a workout in, let alone daily, but I am doing it and am not going to quit until it is over and like it so much I am really thinking of doing it again.
Good luck and I will be your buddy emoticon) but I am on day 11 tomorrow. I have a friend who has4 more days to go and the last fit test. She is going to quit when she is done, but she lost 90 lbs before she started it. Anyway good luck.

Dawn, I bet that's water weight or new muscle. I definitely was feeling muscle soreness after doing Cardio Power & Resistance yesterday and today I can really feel I'm retaining water. Congrats! It sounds like you've lost some fat so that's awesome! Good job getting your workouts in even working night shifts! That's inspiring by itself!

Hi, you look great in your photo, you dont look like you need to do Insanity! Anyway, Im a 41 year old single mum and Id like someone to buddy up with too. I love insanity but after doing it for two weeks I sprained my ankle (I find its pretty hard going on the ankles and knees), so Ive just come back into it after a few weeks off when I had to rest my ankle, and Im almost through my first week again. Im doing Insanity to bulk up and get stronger, I def dont need to lose any weight :-)

Hey KP40! Thank you! I'm not trying to lose weight with Insanity, I just want to work on my endurance and speed. What day are you on?

Yesterday, I ran 3.5 miles which felt okay except now I have DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) in my butt and quads. It's going to take some time for me to adapt to the movement and impact, I think, and I definitely need new shoes. Just finished Cardio Recovery and I love that workout. I love/hate the squats and lunges and the pulses - it's so hard to stay in it with how badly my muscles are burning but I'm hoping those pulses push out any left over lactic acid from yesterday. Oof!

How is everyone else's Insanity workouts going?

I muddled up my days somehow when I came back into the workouts after resting my ankle, so last night was Cardio Recovery. My muscles burn too, especially when I hold the lunge and pulse it out. The guys in the dvd make it look effortless! Today is Cardio Power & Resistance - my favourite :-).

kP40 - I know! They make it look like it's nothing. When Shaun T walks over to Jimmy who's squatting, yeah he's making faces but it almost looks like he's acting. emoticon

I'm supposed to do Pure Cardio today but I'm going to do it tomorrow. Last night, my upper back started getting really sore and this morning it's very sore and stiff so I'm going to rest it, though I'll probably go for a short jog later. I don't think the soreness/stiffness is from Insanity, I think it's more likely due to dealing with a tantrummy toddler. That's a workout in itself!

Went for a 2 mile run yesterday with the plan of running 5 miles but... 2 miles in I realized that the shoes I was wearing (while I wait for my new shoes to arrive) weren't going to cut it. My arches were not happy.

Got Pure Cardio in this morning but took it low impact. I wore the weighted Turbo gloves and kept the workout low-impact with very little jumping. Still got in an awesome work out, though I feel like I have left over energy now that I don't know what to do with! emoticon

Workout today was supposed to be Cardio Power and Resistance, but my feet are still out of whack so until my shoes get here, no jumping for me. Did Pump & Burn instead. Wasn't really there mentally but I did it and it's done which is what matters. Tomorrow's workout will be much better!

Pure Cardio today - kept it lower impact since my arch is still tight in my foot, but higher intensity than yesterday's workout for sure! Getting a cold so hopefully the boost in my circulation helps my immune system too!

How is everyone else doing?

I started Insanity 3 weeks ago and I am determined to finish it. I was very sick yesterday so I missed my first day. I felt so guilty. I got up this morning and kept it moving. I will make yesterday up on Sunday because next week is just abs. I am in the same boat with feeling the need to add in a Body Pump class or something. My knees bother me from time to time and I just don't want anything to stand in the way of me finishing Insanity. I have started things too many times and not finished. I can't let it happen this time around. I am willing to check in with you periodically to see how things are going. You can do it, WE CAN DO IT!!!!! Good luck!

i just started insanity this morning, and even though it was brutal to start with, im actually really loving the difficulty of the workout. props on the 5 mile run goal, as thats pretty much the reason why i started insanity myself

Hi! I too started Insanity on October 1st! I am also doing a 5K run on October 27th. Funny. So far I am really liking the Insanity. It is a great work-out! I absolutely don't keep up, but I am going without stopping at least! I have already lost about 4 lbs! I screwed up on the fitness test the first day too. I didn't realize I was supposed to 'count,' instead, I timed my first exercise. the rest of the exercises, I counted the reps.:-)

Tiemo - Nice to meet you! Sorry you were sick but glad you're feeling better! We can definitely keep each other on track!

Shadow - What is your goal that got you doing Insanity?

Leppard - That's kind of funny about the Fit Test. The Fit Test is actually a pretty challenging workout in itself. Congrats on losing 4 lb, that's awesome!

Got in Plyo Cardio Circuit this morning. I actually like this workout a lot. I don't know if it's the water breaks every 2 min or just the exercises themselves but I find myself getting more in this workout than others and am definitely the sorest after this one. The level 1 drills, ski abs and in&out abs seriously kill me but I can feel myself already in week 2 getting stronger in my lower abs so that's pretty bad @$$. Definitely helps me stay motivated!

Hello, great to meet all you motivated people. I too need buddies to help me get through this program. I start my insanity workout on Monday oct 15. Can't wait to get my DVDs. I am a little anxious from so many posts about how hard it is but motivated still to see so many have completed the program and lived. Good luck on your marathons and lets keep up the faith in our bodies.

I just started Insanity on Monday with the fit test and after that and the first day, I am soooo incredibly sore all over.

I'm a "skinny fat" girl. I'm in single digit sizes and can hide my fat pretty well, but I hate how my body looks naked. My husband does Crossfit, which I did for a year, but I hated how badly it ripped up my hands and it was super competitive. I did P90X 3 years ago for a month before my wedding and then quit. I definitely plan to stick with Insanity though - I just turned 30 and I weigh the most I've ever weighed in my life. End the trend, right? Would love some buddies to keep me motivated through to day 60 so I can post some awesome "after" photos!

Hi MelissaJudy and fellow forum ladies,

It`s so nice to read about your stories and your journey embarking on and `surviving` the Insanity workouts! I just received mine in the mail today and plan on starting them next week with my husband. I`m kind of worried because I don`t think I can even do one push-up! emoticon

I had my first baby three months ago and I`m really looking forward to toning up and losing those remaining postpartum pounds! I look forward to having buddies as well to motivate one another!

I don't have children yet, but we plan on starting to try for our first next year after we settle into our next Army duty station. I'm worried that I'll really let myself go after pregnancy so I wanted to ensure to create a healthy body now, before we think about getting pregnant. That way, it's more about maintenance than stepping back. I could be way off on that plan, but that's my thinking anyway :-P

I didn't grow up in a "healthy household," but my husband did so it's a tough transition for me, especially since I had always been skinny and ate whatever I wanted. Not so much these days...

I'd be happy to tell you about what's ahead of you since I'll only be a week ahead of you and your husband. Best of luck in Insanity!!
