I'm from manhattan ks and am doing my first time with P90X.

I'm 20 years old and will be turning 21 in November. I decided to do P90X because I don't feel happy or confident in my body. I wear baggy clothes to hide my body and never feel confident. I have skipped on cruises, vacations, and swimming with friends because I'm scared for others to see my body. I feel like anything I do or whoever I'm with I can't be truly happy or in the moment because I'm always embarrassed about my body. I just want to feel happy, confident and pretty in my body and with myself. I am "skinny-fat" and I would like to tone up. My problem areas are my biceps, love handles and lower stomach. My physical goal is to wear jeans and pants without extra skin hanging off of my sides, for my forearms to tone up and to at least be able to slightly see my lower abs. My bonus goal is to be able to do the splits emoticon.
Problems I think I will have are that once I start feeling better about myself I will stop before I fully complete the program and I am also worried that I will miss a day or two during the weekends.

Here I am on Tuesday October 2 2012, the day I started P90X.

Bandxaid. I understand about the stoping after you've reached your goal. One very good way to not stop is to think about becoming a coach. This will allow you to share all the knowledge you now have and share with others. Would love to have you join our thread. We have some awesome motivated people doing all sorts of programs. Many of us have done several. I'll post a link below. If you have any questions about the coaching option let me know. Would be glad to share with you.

We also have a guy on the thread who is AWESOME with food science break down. He can take you daily intake and show you what it really is. I love that!!!!

Bandxaid,

You've made the first step. You DECIDED to do something. I have a thread started with tons of great info on starting P90X. I did my first round back in May and my goal was just to finish the 90 days - I did - but I also got great results and I know you will to.

Many people along with my coach helped to keep me motivated, push me when I didnt want to work out and gave me all the info I needed as well as answering my many questions.

If you have a minute check out my thread and if you have a moment say "hi". Ask any question or participate and help yourself and others (along with me) stay motivated together!

Here's the link to get to the thread:

Motivation + Teamwork = SUCCESS!

We are here to help!

Hi, welcome to Beachbody! P90X will give you great results and just take it a day at a time! You already look great, like you said, just need to tone up! If you have to miss a day, don't beat yourself up about and just do it the next day. As long as you are consistent and keep pushing play you will see the results you want!

If you are on Facebook and want extra support, come on over to my team page: Team Lemon Shake Up. It is a page where I organize challenge groups and where we all post about our workouts or any other fitness questions / comments or just life in general. It is a nice supplement to what you do here in the WOWY gym.

Hope to see you there, too! Best of luck with your first round of P90X!

Andrea

try to find a way to make working out fun, I feel great in the morning after working out - everything else seems a bit easier, even without results I'm now addicted to working out, I feel like crap if I go a week or so without getting at least 45 minutes in - hopefully you'll enjoy it and make it a lifelong habit!

best of luch

Happy Early birthday! emoticon And congratulations for starting P90X, Great gift to yourself!

All the goals you mention are very possible! Follow the program, trust the program. You can do it. I know those self esteem issues...I have those. I hit a high of 215 pounds...215 extremely out of shape pounds! And I did just what you're talking about. I started P90x and lost 20 pounds and I stopped. I have no idea why, because I certainly wasn't happy with my body by then but those self esteem demons were screaming "you lost 20 pounds, big deal you won't lose anymore!". So i gave in. I got back to 209lbs before i decided to commit this time. less than 3 weeks to go before i finish my full first round! I've lost 25 pounds to date this go round emoticon They key to my success on pushing forward came from outside support. I have my amazing coach who backed me up 1000% and i attribute a lot of my success to him. We have these forums for support, millions of people are behind you. We want to see you succeed and watch you're progress. It's like addictive to us!

As far as missing workouts go, I had a HARD time accepting this at first. I missed a day and was ready to just give up. Mad at myself, everyone around me..the world. But you have to look at it this way. P90X and these beachbody programs that are here for us to use to adapt into our individual lives and bring us success. If you miss a day, you have options to "make up" or you can look at it like this; your fitness and health isn't 90 days, it's the rest of your life. So you miss a day or two, in the long run that day or two will be ok! I have 3 kids, Life happens..they get sick, other responsibilities I have to do or i'm just plain exhausted. What did i do? I followed a rule, if i missed more than 3 workouts a week, i extended that phase by a week. As it stands , i should have been done with p90x this week, but i have 2 more to go! Then a week break and i'm after it again emoticon

Anyways, all that being said. Keep your chin up. Go push play and bring it. If you feel you need motivation, come to these boards, look at other peoples stories. Post any questions or concerns you have and let us answer them or come give you a boost. And my inbox is always open if you need anyone to talk to.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing your progress emoticon
