Starting CLX - would love accountability buddies!
chalean extreme accountability clx newbie buddy
11/11/12 7:56 PM
I'm an Insanity alum making the shift over to CLX - thought I'd go after more strength training than cardio this time! I loved doing Insanity and I think the area I struggled with the most there will probably be my problem area here too...the FOOD! It's not that I really eat all that terribly but I definitely need a bit of work and discipline in that department. Help keep me on track!! :-)

If you are just about to start CLX or recently started, I'd love to go through this adventure together! I've tried to get some friends on board but so far, they've shown me no interest -- they support me in my endeavors but don't want to put forth the effort themselves. So in 3 months when I have this rockin' hot body...we'll see if anyone regrets not doing it with me then! ;-)

I have a great coach and coaching group - there's a lot of great support there and I'm not looking to leave. But I just think there's something to be said about doing these programs alongside someone else doing the same one that really elevates the experience for you. This weekend I'll be plotting out next week's menu and can't wait till bright and early Monday morning to start gettin' EXTREME!

Oh, and if anyone has done the program before and has any advice to offer, I'm all ears!!

Thanks & KPP!!!

Day 1
day 1 clx burn circuit 1
10/15/12 9:52 AM as a reply to BostonJenny.
Just finished my first CLX workout!
Completed Burn Circuit 1. It's definitely a big shift from the nonstop craziness of Insanity! I found today a slight challenge, trying to figure out the best weights for each move while at the same time learning the new moves - but with time, I have a hunch it'll get easier.
I also did all my measurements and before pics today - those are always so much more telling of progress than just watching the scale! I'm just so not a fan of looking at before pics though (keeping them laying around is very motivating!)

Day 1 is in the books...looking forward to experiencing what the next 89 bring!

Jenny :-)

Way to go! I am an Insanity grad too now doing CLX! Almost to the 60 day mark. My 30 day results with CLX were as good as my 60 day results with Insanity! Blew my mind! Good Luck! I think you'll like it!

Well that's a very motivating sentiment - that you got similar results in half the time! Thanks for sharing!
Did you find there was somewhat of an adjustment period initially switching from so much cardio to the strength training? I've had to remind myself of how I struggled with Insanity in the beginning too and then became stronger and was able to handle the workouts. Day 1 is always somewhat of a humbling experience!

Yes, it was a big adjustment. It was weird not going cardio crazy every morning and still trying to feel like I had a good enough workout. Once you get the weights down it will be better. I started by going one step down from what Chalene was using. That was a good starting point for me. I try to do an Insanity workout once a week just to keep up the torture! emoticon

I will let you know how my 60 day mark goes - it is coming up Sunday.

Jenny, I finished Insanity a couple weeks ago and started CLX yesterday! I also need accountability. My coach always says that fitness is a three-legged stool- nutrition, rest, and exercise...my diet is what trips me up! Like you, I don't eat terrible, but I tend to get bored and start to drift!

Would love to check in with you guys daily! I'm also struggling with the lack of cardio, although I've been told CLX covers that in some of the burn circuits.

Hi Wendy!
Sounds like we're having a simliar fitness journey - with the same struggle in that diet area! I wish the Ultimate Reset wasn't so pricy as I've heard such great things about how it helps you learn how to prepare healthy meals and eat clean - I could definitely use some help in that area! But for now, I'm just doing it on my own. Are you planning to follow the eating plan that came with CLX? I think I will but unfortunately didn't get to plan out my meals for this week before kicking off the program so I'll have to make up for that.

Just completed Day 3, Burn Circuit 2. I did much better I think today picking more appropriate weights than I did on the first day. My muscles were all twitching during the cool down; hopefully that's a good thing!

I don't have a lot of upper body strength so I've tried to gauge my weights by doing half of what Chalene was doing. I did a lot better today, as I wasn't as afraid to pick up the heavier weights. Day 1 I think I was just a little intimidated, not knowing what to expect. And I noticed today with the heavier weights that I did break a sweat. I think that's what I missed on Day 1. With Insanity, I felt like I clearly got a good workout because my heart rate was pumping and I was a hot, sweaty mess at the end of each session; I have to re-adjust my thinking with this slow burn.

I was thinking of throwing in an Insanity workout on the rest days - just for fun emoticon

Definitely let us know about your day 60!

Jenny - give your all for the 30 days and you will have upper body strength! I couldn't believe how much better my arms and shoulders looked and so quickly! And my push-ups have improved too! I struggled with those during Insanity.

...Insanity just for fun....yeah right! emoticon

Hi ladies!

I am also a Insanity Grad and will be starting Chalean Extreme today. I am totally excited! I would love to join this group! I also have a hard time with food, but I am making progress slowly. I drink shakeology once sometimes twice a day depending on my time and hopefully this new workout will break my plateau I've been on the past couple of months!

Stoked to be adding a new routine and will miss Insanity and it's craziness. Maybe on some days I will add it in just to visit Shaun T and the rest of the crew.

Good luck to you all! emoticon

Hello ladies,
Mind if I join in? I have not done Insanity and although I have dabbled in P90X, CLX will be my first start to finish program. I just completed the Ultimate Reset and found it excellent but you can't exercise while on it. If you are considering it, you need to be prepared to take a 3-4 week break from exercise other than a 20 minute walk morning and night.

Officially I start CLX tomorrow but I have been through the first week once just to get a feel for the program. I too struggle with diet. It isn't what I eat necessarily, it's how much. I have trouble with portion control, what can I say, I like to eat and eat well.

Welcome, VeeBee97 and GrammaT!

Today was Lean Circuit 2 for me. I cannot believe how shaky I was by the end!! I was also encouraged by how far my push-ups have come since I started Insanity. I am excited to see how much farther they will come by the end of CLX!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday emoticon

Hi VeeBee and Terry!

The more, the merrier so welcome! :-)

Sounds like diet is going to a battle area for all of us. Are you all planning to follow the eating plan that came with CLX? I'm really hoping to. And I'd like to track my food intake on My Fitness Pal but I struggled with getting into the habit of that during Insanity. Does anyone else use the My Fitness Pal? If you're not familiar, [Edited by CSBB5] to check it out; it's a helpful way to track your food and calories. We can buddy up on that site if you think it will help.

Terry, mind if I ask what you thought of the Reset? It seemed tempting to me but I was concerned with the cost and that lack of working out for 3 weeks. I feel like I went through so much to create this workout habit that it'd be hard to start all over again. But I've heard it really helps you learn how to eat clean which I would love to learn!

Hi! Welcome newcomers!!!! yeah!

VeeBee - you will miss Insanity at first - I throw one in now and then on one of the CLX rest days so I'm working out 6 days a week. Good Luck!

Wendy - I start Lean next week - any advice for me? It definitely looks more challenging!

Gramma - would love to know about Ultimate Reset too. Yes, the cost is hard to swallow!

Jenny - I use myfitmesspal - it's great! You can do it online or on your Iphone. Definitley helps with accountability.

I eat 5 equal meals a day (300x5=1500) - basically following the Insanity nutrition guide. I just haven't had time to really adjust to the CLX meal plan - it looks a little more complicated. I liked that Insanitys meals were all 300 calories. Works perfect for me!
I soooooo wish BeachBody would just put out a cook book with all the recipes from all the programs in it! I would buy it! It seems like I'm eating all the time - every 2.5-3 hours- no time to want snacks or "bad" food- it's very satisfying!

Day 4 accountability
10/18/12 8:06 AM as a reply to BostonJenny.
First time doing the Burn Intervals and Ab Burner today. Not sure if it was the workout, poor sleep or yesterday's diet but about halfway through the Intervals workout, I started to not feel so good. I don't think I was working too hard but I did switch to the lower impact moves that the woman on the right was doing because I really didn't want to just quit. I'm trying really hard to just accept this as a new program and do it as laid out - but I wasn't a huge fan of the Ab Burner workout & am thinking of using the Insanity one in its place. Maybe I'll give it one more shot but I really like Shaun T's c-sit position versus Chalene's crunches - although if she does it and looks like she does, maybe I can grow to love them too... And that triceps series was a killer - and I was only using 2/5# weights for it! I definitely identified my weak spot today!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday emoticon I messed up when I posted yesterday...I did Burn Circuit 2, not Lean Circuit 2. Today was Burn Intervals and Ab Burner for me as well. I felt like I was right back in Insanity a few times...whew, I was tired!! I am not completely sure about following the food guide 100%. I am planning on picking one new recipe out of the book each week. We have a family of 6, and we spend a lot on groceries. I know I need to eat a lot more veges and protein and fewer carbs. I mainly use MFP to look up calories. I tend to write all my food down in a notebook (habit from my Weight Watcher days). Also, Coach JasonW told me I need more calories than the 1400 the book suggests....confusing sometimes! Are you all following the recommended calories from the book?

Can I join your group ? I have not been consistent with my workouts. Started CLX 2 weeks ago but only did couple of WOs before slacking. I think I can use a group to commit to.
I also need a coach to guide me. Any active CLX coaches around ?

Shack, A BB cookbook would be an awesome idea! I bet a lot of people would buy it as it seems to be a consistent problem area for a lot of us - you should pass along that idea to the powers that be :-)

Wendy, my plan is to aim for 5 300-calorie meals a day. That's not exactly following the plan but I think it'll work for me. I'm not a huge eater and it's hard for me to hit those higher calorie numbers (through healthy eating; of course it's easy to hit a higher calorie intake with the junk food!) And since we're not doing the crazy cardio of Insanity every day, I think as long as I watch my protein intake, I'll be OK at 1500.

RTANYA, welcome! Of course you can join in!! Having a group to post to really does help with accountability and I find it really helpful to do the program at about the same pace as others - that way we can share the successes, the tears, the complaints of aches & pains :-) I'm a coach; you're welcome to use me in any way that I can be of assistance if you'd like.

Thanks Jenny for the welcome. This group is already working I did my yet again first CLX workout tonite and it was awesome. I was sweating within 10 mins. Some background abt me.
I first bought Slim in 6 in 2008, and it took me 6 months to finish my first round. I got to my lowest weight with it. I stopped working out and got pregger, had baby, breastfed her for a year. During the breastfeeding I lost all my baby weight and more but then my body got smarter but I kept eating and no workout lack of sleep got me. Now I m at my max weight.

I did a month of p90x before I stopped to resume in a month, which never happened so now I m doing CLX. I like the concept alot more since its not boring as SI6 (same routine for 4 weeks) and not dancey dancey (I can't do too many steps workout). also it has the concept that i think will work for me.

I do have major eating problem, I tend to eat when I m bored/stressed or home. If i m at work I eat very clean, drink water but home I loose it.

Thanks again for the welcome, how do I make you (Jenny) my coach ?

Sorry for the novel.
