Insanity Asylum Volume 2 - Challenge Group Oct 15 -Get Fit, Ask Questions
asylum 1 day of insanity 1st time asylum asylum 2
10/18/12 4:54 AM
Hello All,

I have done all of the Insanity products from Insanity to Asylum, even did Asylum & Insanity Hybrid. I've done P90X2, Body Beast, etc.

So you're like me and you're bored of Asylum Volume 1, what do you do...skip the rest, dont even consider any other videos. If you're an insanity die hard and got Asylum, then VOLUME 2 is for you.

Now I am taking the Asylum Volume 2 challenge. Who wants to join me? Anyone is welcome even if you start a week or 2 weeks later than me.

I am here to answer your questions as well and coach you if you need it!

First Observations:
1. If you have not done Asylum Volume 1, do that. Asylum Volume 2 is on a whole new level and you cant just skip from Insanity to Asylum Volume 2.

2. With that said, if you're incredibly fit and active in sports...Soccer, Football, Basketball, etc and do workout for an hour a day doing HIIT training, then go for it and get Asylum Volume 2.

3. For me, Asylum Volume 2 is a whole new level, Volume 1 is a joke compared to Volume 2. I just did X-Trainer today and it was intense to say the least. I could feel my muscles asking for more energy to push on and I had none to give.

4. "The work doesn't start until you get tired" and you will get TIRED.

5. The Music is amazing in this set, it gets you even more involved. More MOTIVATIONAL.

6. Do the Agility tutorial video, even the 20 mins of intro had me sweating. I can tell I am in a world of hurt for next 30 days.

7. Visit my other page for more generic info: Generic info

8. Ask me anything. Friend me and email me any questions you have.

9. The combination moves in Asylum Volume 2 is unlike any you've experienced before so get ready

10. Lets do this together. JOIN ME.

Is there a lot of jump roping (warm ups and active rest) in volume 2?
Report Post Report Post
?
Jump roping is there as its a key component of this asylum, but I have not seen it as much of an active rest yet. I've seen some new moves like hopscotch jump rope which ask you to take it up a level.

He does moves with a jump rope that I didn't even know existed in this one. And now combines different jump rope techniques into same rotation.

I will let you know more as I progress through the days. X-tainer only had one section of jump rope and a lot of agility moves combined with pushups and weight training.

Day 2 - Was another beast of its own. Talk about push-ups!

The jump rope moves are now sequence combined so its taken up a notch from asylum 1, although one did have some sequences of its own.

I really like how so far videos do cardio, abs training, and strength training using weights and body weight.

Upper Elite really made me feel the pain. Lower abs are sore like none other, and my arms are hurting.

More to come as I progress.

Regards,

Ajay

Day 3 - Power Legs

Quite an amazing leg workout esp at the end where there is a burnout followed by a squat rotation that really takes it to your legs.

This is basically a how long can you last given the weight you chose. Well done Shaun-T.

Great reviews.

I a still waiting for my Vol. 2 to arrive. It is in my hometown butnot at my house.

I might not be able to start until monday Oct 29.

I have done Vol. 1 many times and have been doing it occasionally the past few weeks. But I know no matter what Volume 2 will be a killer!!

I can't wait!! I love how Shaun T makes me feel inadequate!! Just more motivation!!!

I will drop into this thread as my journey progresses and we can push each other.

I also have a thread on the Insanity section called: Over 60 Doing the Asylum. You can stop in there too if you want.

you aborted the workout ?!
Report Post Report Post
?
No way I aborted it, haha. I am still going strong, just real life such as midterms for college and work get in way of me posting.

The Back and Six Pack Abs workout was just meh for me expect the burnout in the end. I always love how the burnout at the end, you want to keep your legs up doing scisscors but no way you're lasting it. I might increase the weights next time. I felt I got a better abs workout out of the X-Trainer.

Then there was an off day, stretch phase, and off day. I took another off day to study for midterms.

Tonight is the best one --> Suddent Death OT, will let you know how it goes right after. There is a place to record when you tap out so I am looking forward to this!

Excited you guys are joining up, post how you feel after and lets keep this thread motivating each other.

Well that concludes, week 1.

Championship was decent, I would have to say Gameday from Asylum Vol 1 was more intense. Gameday followed by Overtime in Volume 1 was the ultimate workout. The only things to top it so far are X-Trainer and Upper Elite.

Sudden Death OT was intense at the very end, that Agility: The Audition round is like none other, I was literally panting as I finished by 7th round of it before time ran out and the end of Championship.

I will put off the Fit Test to tomorrow night and let you know how many rounds of that I last through. Its basically Agility: The Audition, 4x Power Jumps, 2x burpee into jump. I am going to do X-trainer tomorrow morning.

I might do one more week of Asylum Vol 2 before switching over to Asylum Volume 1 + 2 hybrid. I like the Vertical Plyo, Speed & Agility, and Strength from Vol 1 and they give a nice schedule for the hybrid, so I'm game for that.

i think you should do it a month to the the results for example for me insanity was more intense than asylum but i got better results on ASylum

Agreed, I was just thinking about it this morning. Why not give it a full try to see the results.

I did Ab Shredder last night instead of the fit test as it appears the first test is the sudden death OT.

Wow the Ab Shredder had me in a pool of sweat for a 20min ab workout; and I am feeling the effects today.

In 2 weeks, its got Ab Shredder doubled with Upper Elite and Power Legs, so that will be hr and 20 mins of workout a night.

Almost all the videos aside from Ab Shredder are 1 hr in this volume, so have fun to those starting.

After all, 3 intense videos and 2 ok ones is not a bad deal right?

Anyone started their vol 2 yet?

I've got to say, I am still feeling that simple 20min ab shredder workout. No running, no excessive jump yet jet it really got my lower abs.

Thats one thing vol 2 does very well, it has a focus on targetting lower abs. Almost every workout, the lower abs will be engaged more so than upper, so for those of you like me who need defined lower abs, this is workout to do.

Just found this thread. I'm on day 4. I loved Upper Elite - it was awesome. Power legs and X trainer were pretty good too. Looking forward to Back and 6 pack today, off tomorrow, then I'll get to post my audition for round 1. Thanks for the thread.

My schedule just has Ab Shredder doubled with Power Legs. I was wondering why it was on both DVDs...

Finally arrived in the mail yesterday for me...can't wait to start Monday morning. Holy monkeys, the agility moves are off the charts! I'm definitely going to practice to the tutorial this weekend.

@John - Sounds great! Looking fwd to how many rounds you lasted in sudden death OT at the end of Championship.

@ abowls - I think its just for ease to user, since it doubles up on Upper Elite, and Power Legs, much easier to have it on each dvd, so we don't swap them in and out. Good thing they did.

@WVeer24 - Yes def do the tutorial, otherwise you'd get lost when you do X-Trainer. They're def off the charts, and the speed at which some of the people do them on the video makes me get dizzy. For a tutorial, it had me sweating at the end.

-----------------------

Also post who is your motivation in the video --> who do you look towards as the person to beat.

I did Ab Shredder 2x back to back last night, so challenge completed Shaun T. I will try to see if i can do 2x after power legs or upper elite.

This morning was X-Trainer round 2, this is one of my favorites.

Wow Coach Ajay!!!! Inspiring stuff. You sure have come a long way. And how do you manage with career, home, school, life workouts, and being a coach. You sound very dedicated - *impressed*.

Jason,

It is very difficult, but I take a look back at where I was and I don't want to go back there. It is like you said very easy for me to slip back into eating junk and taking it easy; but fitness actually makes me focus more career and school wise.

Coaching is fun, but I do only accept a certain few as I want to make sure I offer them my undivided attention especially with school now.

Well Vol 2 kicked my butt this weekend:- X-Trainer Friday, Upper Elite - Sat, Hurricane Prep - Today, and hopefully some early morning Power Legs before the hurricane lands.

How is everyone else progressing?
