WOW! I did X Trainer and the Agility Tutorial yesterday. I ended up spread eagle on the floor shaking from head to toe. That was freaking hard. I've done Asylum 2 and a half times while waiting for this so it's not like I'm a newbie.

Today my glutes are killing me emoticon. I'm not sure if it's all from X Trainer since I also did some RevAbs yesterday and there was some glute work in it but wow! ouch! I'm rearranging the schedule a bit so today I'm running and tomorrow I'm moving on to Upper Elite. I'm so glad I don't have to face Shaun T again today!

Agree totally. I decided to do the Agility Tutorial on Sunday (ended up doing it several times to get the footwork down pat). Probably worked on it for an hour. Glad I did. Did the X-Trainer today and I found the footwork easier to follow. I can't say the same for the workout. Holy Crap (best polite phrase I can come up with now!) What a beast! I really enjoyed variety of sequences and the variety of body parts worked on. Like you I have done Asylum several times. Thought that Vertical Plyo was the toughest. X-Trainer was tougher. Can't wait (!!!???) for Upper Elite tomorrow! Man, this program is going to get me in shape! My recreational hockey league starts in about three weeks, so I will be ready. Oh, by the way, I turned 55 this summer, so if I can do it so can you who are much younger. Congratulations to Sean T, another superb, superb program.

I did a short run last night. I intended to go about 6.5 miles but I just didn't have anything in the tank so I stopped after 3.5 miles. At least it stretched out my glutes so now I can feel everywhere else I'm sore. This soreness is really weird b/c I almost never get sore anymore. I had to stretch out in a hot epsom salt bath last night. I'm scared for Upper Elite today. I'm still feeling all the pushups from X Trainer a bit and I heard that Upper Elite has a ton of pushups.

I need to get my eating sorted out. I'm pretty sure lack of calories was responsible for the crash in my run yesterday.

You guys are scaring me!!! I also have done Volume 1 quite a few times. If X-Trainer is harder than Vertical Plyo, YIKES.

I am hoping to receive my Volume 2 today. I probably won't be able to start officially until Friday, November 2, although I might do the tutorial one a few times to help me get the moves right.

I am 63.

I usually communicate on the Over 50 Doing Asylum thread. A lot of good dedicated people over 50 who have been doing Asylum and other programs. Godd motivation.

Well Upper Elite was not as bad as I anticipated. There were a ton of pushups. Lots and lots of one arm pushups with the other arm at the side to "help" if you need it. Right. Also, lots of triceps pushups. Eventually I had to go to my knees for the pushups. I noticed by the end the girls in the video were on their knees and barely going down at all for the last enormous set of tricep pushups so I don't feel to guilty about it. It was not easy but I'm not sore today and I wasn't shaking from head to toe at the end of Upper Elite.

I'm not sure how much of my trouble with X Trainer was that I had already worked out a bit or it's possible that I didn't have enough calories on board. I'm hoping that will be better this week...

It's interesting isn't it which workout people found the hardest from Volume 1? Vertical Plyo was a workout for me but Speed and Agility was by far the hardest for me. All those mountain climber progressions, in and out abs, and bear crawls were just brutal for me. I found it much harder than Vertical Plyo or Game Day. I wonder if it's a male/female thing or just person to person. I'm a runner and a soccer player so my lower body is fairly up to the task (even Shaun T tasks) but all the upper body and abs stuff is killer for me so maybe it's just background and personal strengths? IDK.

At any rate, I did Power Legs last night and if you are one of the people that thought Vertical Plyo was awful, I suspect this will be killer for you. I thought it was like Vertical Plyo except harder and longer and with a bit of strength training and agility thrown in. It was tough but it didn't have me collapsed on the floor at the end of it so so far X Trainer is by far the hardest for me. I'm not too worried about Back and 6 pack tonight as far as killing me. I am a little worried that it will be the workout that I dread though since Back to Core was the workout from Vol. 1 that I wasn't in love with.

I've been doing RevAbs all this week as well as Asylum 2 and I think I'm going to ditch the Total Strength and Power Intervals workouts from RevAbs from now on. I'm getting plenty of cardio from running and I think that I can get more from weightlifting on my own than from his workout. Also, Brett annoys me a bit so it's probably for the best if I not have to do his workouts every day. Serioulsy who says "get a drinkie-poo?" It takes too much time to do both and I'm sure it's overtraining anyway.

Great feedback. I play soccer too - did you do P90x2 as well? If you did, curious how you found it as related to your soccer playing? I am about to go through a P90x2->Asylum->Asylum 2 progression for the next 5 months or so.

Also, will continue to follow how you found A2 as well.
Thanks - good luck

I have not done P90X2 yet. So far I've done P90X, Insanity, and Asylum (2.5 times). I probably will do P90X2 at some point possibly after I get bored with Asylum2/RevAbs. I have a feeling I won't love P90X2 because it sounds like a ton of core stuff and flexibility? I don't like that kind of stuff but I'm aware that I desperately need it. Before I started doing Beachbody workouts I was so inflexible that I couldn't even straighten my legs completely.

Back and 6 pack was much as I suspected. It will be my least favorite workout of Asylum2. I had fun with it last night and it was pretty difficult but it's slower paced and less frantic so I'm pretty sure that I'll get bored with it long before the other workouts. I don't like the varied jumping jack sets that seem to go on forever as a warmup and the only real criticism I have of Shaun T's exercises in general is that I do NOT like the whole abs workout in a C-sit position. I feel like it's really easy to do it wrong and I probably am doing it wrong when I start to get tired. It cramps my hip flexors and I feel it in my lower back more than I think I should.

Anyway, despite my slight criticism of Back and 6 pack I'm so far loving Asylum 2! I LOVE Shaun T even when I'm hating him emoticon.

Started a day early with X Trainer this morning...loved it. My footwork sucks, but I remember the first time I did Volume 1 I stunk up the joint as well. I wish I had this stuff when I was in high school and college...I could have been soooo much better of an athlete.

Speed and Agility was my favorite Volume 1 workout, with Vertical Plyo being the most difficult. It appears as if my chest is my strongpoint as I never really had problems keeping up with pushup moves in Volume 1, and I can complete the pushup matrix in Volume 2 without dropping. I would say my shoulders are my weak point, as I struggled with the pulsing in Back to Core and I really struggled with the pressing move during the dumbbell portion of X Trainer...I really need to focus on that.

I think I will do X Trainer again in the morning to start on schedule because I didn't get all that I could out of the workout...I was stopping because I didn't have the moves down pat. I'll get much more out of it doing it a second time, I think.

I LOVED Championship yesterday. That was quite possibly my favorite Shaun T workout ever! X Trainer kicked my butt agsin today but was possibly a tiny bit better than last week. I think I love Volume 2 even more than Volume 1. I would never have thought that was possible emoticon.

I finally got my V2 on Thursday. I reviewed all the DVDs. Yikes!!!

I will officially start on Friday. I need to do the first four workouts when I am home because of the dumbbells and pull-up bar. I will do Championship on Wednesdays in my hotel room.

I will do the agility tutorial a few times this week to prepare. I know I will spaz it up the few first times.

I enjoy your reviews.

I got up early and did the Agility tutorial. Jesus I am a spaz. I did the Agility: The Audition. I didn't make the cut. I don't know if I will ever master all of his agility routines. I felt the same way in volume 1, so maybe there is hope. I hope I am not the only one who had trouble with the agility stuff the first time they tried it. I will be very sad.

What will motivate me is that if I do master all of this stuff I should be in pretty good shape.

I also did Pure Contact and Ab Shredder.

I have a slightly smaller hotel room this week, so I had to improvise on some of the moves because I dont' have as much space as Shaun T requires.

The guy is indeed a "mad genius."

I will repeat the process tomorrow morning. Hopefully I will see some improvement.

His workouts are so much more athletic-oriented than the others, which is a good thing. It not just a matter of doing a bunch of reps, which also is good; but you really need some coordination, balance, and concentration to do all the moves. I like it. I just get frsutrated at how poorly I perform some of the stuff. But if I apply myself I am sure over the next month I will get better. I may have to repeat the whole thing in December to really nail it.

Just finished Power Legs for the 2nd time. As I've said, I feel that legs are my strong point but Power Legs is HARD. It probably doesn't help that the only space big enough for Asylum workouts in my house is right next to the woodstove which my husband had on yesterday in case we lost power in the hurricane. It's flipping hot down there! Also my green band is dying so I used the red one the whole time. I'm becoming convinced that beachbody should be marketing this as the ultimate Shaun T buttlift. My glutes have been sore after every workout except Back and 6 pack. I think it's all the out/out in/in in the ladder moves.

Marcj you are definitely NOT the only one having trouble with the agility moves in the ladder. I have to keep rewinding and watching again. I'm probably doing 25% extra workout every time b/c I try to a bit with them, then I rewind and do the whole set eventually. It's almost like choreography and that kind of stuff is NOT my strong point. I also can't do the swing the jumprope to the sides then go back to jumping over it most of the time. I should really make a blooper reel of me trying to do that. I just keep trying and keep moving.

I'm absolutely shocked to have seen a few reviews where people said they were finding Vol.2 easier than Vol.1. I'm definitely not trying to say that anyone is wrong. Everyone's body is different but, to me, this is much harder than Vol.1. I LOVE that they put it on a schedule ( every Sunday for me is XTrainer, Monday should be Upper Elite, Tuesday should be Power Legs...). It makes it much easier to plan ahead. That was more difficult with Vol.1.

Upper Elite this morning...holy monkeys, that was much more difficult than Strength. I like the way back and chest are divided up into to separate workouts. Tomorrow will be Power Legs and I'm prepared for a sore butt.

I did have a stroke of luck this morning as the power went out in my area not more than 5 minutes after I finished my workout. We received about 8 inches of snow overnight, but that's nothing compared to others in the higher elevations...and the people living in NY/NJ with the flooding. I hope Shaun made it through okay...

I got up early again this morning and did the Agility Tutorial. I worked on the Agility: The Audition until I nailed it. Done! I am excited.

I also got the other ones which I found to be easier.

I fully expect that by the end of the 30 days I will be in the best shape of my life!! Can't wait.

I will start for real on friday.

I rearrange my schedule a bit so that I can still go to the gym to run and lift 2-3x/wk. and work with my personal trainer 1x/wk. so yesterday was a run/lift night for me. I have this pipe dream that I'm going to do a Half Marathon in May and run 8 min. miles which would be spectacular for me so I want to keep running.

Anyhow, last night I lifted for 45 min. and then ran for an hour. Tonight I have Back and 6 pack and I'm also going to do a RevAbs workout (Fire up your abs). I'm happy there isn't a lot of leg work involved in my workout tonight b/c my legs are pretty tired from my run last night. With my modifications to the schedule I have to double up the Off Day Stretch workout with one of the others so I might do that tonight too. That way I still get one day off per week.

I bought RevAbs when it was on sale for $20 and I just realized a few days ago that it was some version of it that doesn't come with Full Throttle Abs or the Full Throttle Intervals DVDs even though they are on the workout calendar they apparently don't come with it? WTH? I can't even find them to buy them.

Is anyone else using a preworkout? I've been using Energy and Endurance and I love it EXCEPT that, unfortunately, it has Arginine in it and if I don't take massive amounts of Lysine pills with it, I break out in cold sores which is kind of a PITA. I've been looking for an alternative. I have Jack3D which I bought when I ran out of E&E (it takes about 8 days for me to receive things from Beachbody for whatever reason) but the Jack3D apparently can make you test positive for meth I hear and there are all kinds of dire warnings about it online which may or may not be true warnings but it makes me nervous.

Good Morning (at least it is for me)...

I mix my own preworkout...I take beta alanine and arginine supplements about 30-45 minutes before my workout (love the beta alanine tingle). Ten minutes before my workout I drink half of my cocktail which consists of 1 scoop of Body Fortress NOS, 1/2 scoop of Gatorade, and 1/4 scoop of whey protein powder in 16-20 oz of tap water. This mix gives me the exact carb/protein ratio I need. I drink the rest of the mix during the workout to help me get through. Additionally, I create my own post workout as well based on creatine, coconut water, whey protein, leucine and glutamine.

The book Nutrient Timing by Ivy and Portman was one of the greatest discoveries I've ever stumbled (along with Taubes' Wheat Belly and Sisson's Primal Diet).

Today was supposed to be the stretch day, but I had too much energy, so I did a round of Kenpo (my P90X fav). A nice workout to not overexert yourself, but enough to burn some calories.

Can't wait for Championship tomorrow...

I went to grad school at UT way back in the day. I am not that serious of a UT fan but Like the hat. I also did a project in Austin a few years ago. Great town. I still have some good friends there.

I am going to start the program here in a few minutes. X-Trainer. I am very nervous.

I did X-Trainer this morning (Day One of Asylum Volume 2). Very difficult. I need alot of work on my agility and on the leaping pushups. I also need to drop down five pounds on the dumbbell pyramid the first few times.

I know some have discussed which was harder, X-Trainer or Vertical Plyo. I think they are both equally as hard. I do find Vertical Plyo tougher on my quads. I build up a lot of lactic acid during the warm up and throughout, so it may seem "harder."

X-Trainer is more on the calves from all the Agility moves.

Nonetheless, X-Trainer was killer. My goal, as always, is to master it by the end of the 30 days.

I also have set a goal of losing 12 pounds by the end of the year. I have become re-miss in the last few months. I don't know if I can do it in 30 days. It might take another round of Volume 2 in December.

We shall see.

Tomorrow is Upper Elite. I am looking forward to more embarrassment.
