Hello everyone,

I've had the Slim in 6 program sitting in a drawer for about three years and I've finally decided to try it out. But like any other exercise program I have started, I'm scared I'm going to give up very easily.

Let me tell you a little about me...I'm 45 years old, 5'10" tall and weigh 178 pounds. I would like to lose 30-35 pounds and get in shape. I have never been in shape in my adult life. I lead a very sedentary lifestyle...hate exercise and have a desk job. I get winded going up a flight of stairs and basically feel like I'm living in a 60 year old body. I'm so sick of this! I really want this program to work. I ordered the two day fast, which I plan to do this weekend and I also plan to use Shakeology and the slimming formula.

I'm planning to use this thread to post an update every day which I hope will keep me accountable, but I also wanted to know if there is anyone else out there who can support and motivate me or who I can team up with to finally get this done. If so, please respond.

One more question...does anyone know of a good heart rate monitor to buy? If I'm going to do this, I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of every workout.

Hello again,

I received my two day fast in the mail today. I may start that tomorrow, but wondered since I'm working tomorrow if I should wait until I'm home over the weekend. I've read where a few people suggest staying close to the bathroom while you're doing the fast. Any suggestions there?

Did anyone watch the video chat with Debbie Siebers yesterday? She answered one of my questions, which I thought was pretty cool. She also had lots of great tips at the end for using the bands in case you want to check it out.

Hi Debbie,

I just saw your post. I started Slim in 6 today with the "Start it Up" disc. So I am just a couple days ahead of you.

I'm 41 and would like to lose about 15 pounds. I used to be in shape in my early 20s but that was a million years ago. I had a baby four years ago and have kind of let myself go since that time. And I have decided enough is enough.

Hopefully we can support each other along the way!

I'm glad you saw my post and it would be nice to have someone to go through this with. I'm sure we both need the accountability.

How did your first "Start it Up" session go? I am planning to do the 2 day fast this weekend and will be doing SIU on Monday.

Hi Debbie,

It went well - I was able to get through the whole routine without stopping, but it actually was more challenging than I expected. I had read reviews saying that the first disc was too easy for some people, but I did not find that to be the case. But I am pretty out of shape!

I did not do the two-day fast that you are doing. Are you starting tomorrow? Hope it goes well for you!

Hello Debbie,

Polar makes a great heart rate monitor. You have the right idea on finding accountability! Stay focused and keep an eye on your goal at all times.

We are not doing the Slim 6, however, my wife and I are both Certified Personal Trainers and coaches. If there is anything that we can do to help of motivate you with your fitness goals, let us know!

Good morning Debbie,

I woke up with lots of stiff muscles today so I think that's a good sign! Sore in spots where I could really use it - like my butt and my abs especially! I'm a little embarrassed that other people think Start it Up was too easy - because here I am hoping I'll actually be able to move up to Ramp it Up in a week. I might be stuck on Start it Up for the entire 6 week program - LOL! Oh well. Even if I can only do this one video, it's still more than I was doing before.

I am not even especially overweight, just need to lose 10-15 pounds. But I am like 95% flab. Gross. No energy, no endurance, tired and grouchy all the time and I am sick of it. It ends now.

Are you starting the fast today? I hope it goes well.

Hi Jackie,

How are you feeling? Are you less sore this evening? I have a feeling I'm going to be like you and SIU will be hard for me too. I have a little more weight to lose than you, but even getting that first 10 pounds off will feel great.

I started the 2 day fast today and I made it until 5pm. I had a headache all day and by 5 I was starving. So, I ate dinner and overdid it. That just didn't work for me. I'm pretty disappointed. I did figure out my meal plan for next week and plan to grocery shop tomorrow. I need to have a plan for food or else I fail. I wish it was as easy to take the weight off as it was to put it on.

I thing we are going to need lots of support and encouragement. So lets use this to talk about all the good things and success we have, but also we need to write about our challenges and not so good things that happen along the way. In the past, for me anyway, I have hidden my slip ups and have held on to my weight. I think it will help me to be open and honest about everything.

Even though I ended my fast at 5pm yesterday and overdid it with dinner, I still lost 2 pounds...woohoo!! I got up and ate a healthy breakfast and plan to grocery shop and prepare my food today. Tomorrow...day 1 of Slim in 6!!!

Jackie...what time of day do you exercise?

Hi Debbie,

Good on you for setting up a meal plan for next week! It always helps me so much to know exactly what I am making for dinner every night. Not just for healthy eating, but also eliminating that stress of "what should I do for dinner" that comes at the end of the day when you are tired. It is just nice to not have to think about it.

I did SIU again yesterday and I found it to be a little easier the second time around. It was still a challenge but I think this time knowing what to expect and what comes next made it seem easier. I am still pretty sore and stiff today. I am going to stick with SIU again, see how it feels today.

I still have not done the add-in workouts (the Slim & Limber and the Slim & 6-pack workouts). The calendar says to fit them in 3-4 times/week in addition to the regular workout, but I just don't see that happening at this point. I'm not going to beat myself up about that.

Hi Jackie,

Well I spent 1 1/2 hours at the grocery store! I usually make several small trips every week and I'm usually grabbing the quick and easy things to fix. Everything in my cart this time was very healthy. I came home, made my lunch and my snacks for tomorrow and put everything else away. We are having baked chicken for dinner tomorrow night, but I'm usually home by 4:30, so it won't be a biggie to prepare. What do you have yummy on your menu for tomorrow?

I'm so glad to hear you thought it was easier yesterday. How did it feel today? I'm going to set out my workout clothes tonight so I'm ready at 5:30am tomorrow. I hate getting up that early, but if I wait until later in the day it just doesn't happen.

It's funny you should mention the add on workouts. Debbie Siebers did a video chat last week and she answered the question that I posted. I wondered how many times a week I should do the add on's. She said not to worry about those until you really get the hang of things. You work the abs plenty in SIU, RIU, and BIU. I was glad to hear that since I'm so out of shape I'm going to have enough trouble just getting through the one workout.

Hi Debbie -

I started another round of SI6 today too. Over the last five years I have been trying to make ti through the whole program. Each time it gets easier but I start making excuses when I get half way through. It gets boring doing the same routine every day.

Maybe joining a team will help. Good luck to you and hope to see you tomorrow and every day for the next 6 weeks.

Good for you!! I'm also worried about the time coming where I will start making excuses. Hopefully we can help each other out with that. It looks like our group is you, me and Jackie. I'll add you as a friend so we can keep track of each other.

I wasn't able to do my workout this morning, but have it on my calendar to do as soon as I get home tonight. My daughter has drivers ed so there is no excuse why I can't go home and do this. What time of day do you do your workouts?

Day 2 done!! My thighs are pretty sore from yesterday but I feel better after the workout. I hope you are doing well Debbie. Just remember to go at your own pace. Keep moving even if it is just walking in place. It is hard to get used to do the moves and just watching the video helps to get the rhythm.

I just started (ok.... re-started actually) Slim-n-Six on Monday as well. Today marks Day 2 of Start It Up (SIU) for me.

I am a little frustrated because I hurt my lower back and I haven't been able to start yet. I had a therapeutic massage done which has helped, so I'm hoping it will feel better and I can get at this tomorrow.

Good for you for getting Day 2 done. I wondered if you would be sore. Do you think you will advance to Ramp it Up right away or will you stick with Start it Up for awhile?
